HII I just came here to tell you how much I adore your fic <3
I am going to be honest, I don’t even know where I found it. I was cleaning out my tabs and noticed it with no memory or recollection of ever seeing that description before or opening it. But! It was there! And I’m taking it as a sign from god or something. Because the fic sure does feel like a divine blessing.
To say I am invested is an understatement. I am absolutely and fundamentally hooked. Fell in love harder than Scar, even. I love the way you build this Universe. How everything makes sense with minecraft logic and yet you still manages to surprise me when it gets explained. I love just- the visuals you’re putting in my head. And all the complicated Characters and motivations. And don’t even get me STARTED on Grian’s and Scar’s Dynamic. I fear I’d be writing a whole damn novel in your askbox if I did.
But I adore them. I adore everything about them. The way that Scar treats him, how his wariness fades into comfortableness that he doesn’t quite want to trust but does anyway. I love how easily Grian still cooperates while still being the most annoying person on earth. My god you can tell how starved for social interaction this man is. And yet his behaviour still makes perfect sense. Yet their dynamic doesn’t feel unbalanced. Yet the slow burn is at a perfect degree and not too fast but not too slow either.
And my god all the little details on everyone else too??? Ethubs? Tango? Impulse? Lizzie? (My god, I love her) Martyn? Ren? They all feel so natural. They fit so perfectly within the bounds of this story and merge and interact with everything so well that I find myself enjoying reading their time on screen just as much as when it’s the main duo. Which isn’t a given for a lot of fics.
I am genuinely dying to know more about them all and if you ever consider writing more I’d be eternally deeply grateful to you and cheering very loudly.
Their backstories are also something I deeply adore. Obviously we don’t know many but those that do just make sense . They flow in with everything else we know about the characters and they aren’t overdone or underdone either. They’re reasonable. Their unique and extraordinary for everyone but they are things that can happen. Things that make sense to shape characters the way they are now and affect them to this day but they also don’t feel over the top or too much. I don’t know how else to describe what I mean but it all strikes a perfect balance.
Safe to say, I am obsessed.
Oh and lastly, you get nothing but my deepest appreciation for making Grian an actual villain in this fic. I don’t think I’ve found a good Superhero fic yet that does this. Especially not one where he is actually doing objectively bad and harmful things that aren’t just thievery and stuff boiling down to being an annoyance. Not that I have anything against fics portraying him like that, but it adds such a nice depth to it. Especially because it’s important. It isn’t brushed off either. No, it is a central thing especially Scar grapples with. But it also doesn’t portray Grian as a fundamentally evil being. No. He just has flaws. He’s human. And I love that.
And to counter the absolute greyscale that Grian is so is Scar! He isn’t a perfect sunshine Hero either. He helped Bdubs. He happily works for Ren and Martyn in charge of basically the whole city which is incredibly antidemocratic and a definite conflict of interests with pretty devastating possible consequences despite how much Scar brushes it off. And yet even that isn’t totally evil! You can see the reasoning. You can understand it, agree with it even, and have a solid argumentative ground to stand on.
My point is, it all feels so amazingly sensical and human. You paint an absolutely wonderful world and story with these shades of grey that drags anyone in that dares take as much as a look at it. And their curiosity is not disappointed. I genuinely feel like my life has gained a little something by having read this.
Thank you for the wonderful experience so far, I am looking forward to however you are going to keep telling the story. Whenever that is, take your time.

my interest for hermitcraft/life series had died down a bit so I didn’t want to write for a bit but idk what kind of crack they put into past life because ever since the first episode i have been making my way through everyone’s season 10 and rewatching a lot. so hopefully i can kick myself a little and get back into writing. Especially since it’s been almost two years since I started lodestones. am so thankful for everyone’s patience—i have been a writer in fandoms for a long time and i have never written for a fandom so kind and patient (but i guess that’s to be expected, considering its full of ethoslab viewers)
I am so thankful you care so much for the other characters. though I obviously love writing scarian and their dynamic, my absolute favourite thing is the other characters and using them as foils. bdubs and tango specifically play a huge part in the story, and I’ve had a fun time developing both their characters and there is a lot more to come. Because I started as a fan of the life series, most characters are based off of them. Tango and Bdubs’ past mirrors last life. Bdubs and Etho’s backstory was originally based on last life and the snow fort. Lizzie is written as a comic relief because of how she narrates her life series. Ren and Martyn are based on third life, but specifically from how Scar edited them.
I also want to take a moment to say—my inclusion of certain characters and “exclusion” of others is also purposeful. Where is Jimmy? Where is Pearl? Where is Joel? Won’t say much, but they are all still very much important to the story, even if they’re not physically there.
Also Grian. Thank you for calling him a villain because he absolutely is, and there is no doubt about that. He’s complicated, and Scar has only just started to learn about him.
Anyways, my rambling is done. I will have to reread this again later because it has genuinely made my week, month, year.
