BIG BANG GET WILD WITH NEW SINGLE ‘BANG BANG BANG’
Making good on their promise to drop new music at the top of every month, BIG BANG revealed their latest creation, “Bang Bang Bang,” with an out-there, potentially controversial music video.
“Bang Bang Bang” feels like a 2015 update of the band’s 2012 EDM single “Fantastic Baby,” which is the most-watched, non-PSY Korean video on YouTube. The new cut features bouncy, electro-pop production on the verses before it moves into a siren-like, trap-laden breakdown where G-Dragon sneers “bang bang bang!” After such an energetic verse, the trap section feels out of place and, due to the genre’s time-change shift, screws with the song’s stamina.
But “Bang” essentially stops at the 2:40 mark to revamp itself as a full-on party track with the trappy snares now replaced turbo-powered synths, as the guys lead a chanting, shouting chorus. It’s a similar style to how “Fantastic Baby” ends, but now the vitality’s been kicked up to a new level making this the perfect to track to end any concert with — which was probably its initial mission.
Also like “Fantastic Baby” (not to mention “Bae Bae”), the new single’s accompanying music video sees the band in a neon-flecked world where they guys rock everything from high-fashion (the band’s leather coats are all on point) to unexpected accessories (TOP’s bearskin hats, or Seungri’s football pads) to looks that are boundary pushing (G-Dragon looks a bit like a new-age David Bowie when he’s decked out in glitter and heavy eye-liner).
More or less every look is on point, with the the exception of a scene where we catch Seungri wearing a Native American war bonnet — worn only by those who have earned the highest honors in their tribes. While this slip-up might have been excusable for a more localized Korean act, BIGBANG has toured around the world, has been exposed to multiple cultures and is part of YG Entertainment, a very globally minded record label. Someone should have caught that.
Controversy and questionable trap breakdowns aside, “Bang Bang Bang” is a banger that both longtime and international fans will devour quickly. “Bang Bang Bang” was released June 1 along with the double A-side single “We Like 2 Party,” which will get its video revealed on June 5. For now, listen to “We Like 2 Party” via Spotify:
BIG BANG ANNOUNCES PLANS FOR INDIVIDUAL BROADCASTS ON NAVER
On the night of June 1, BIG BANG hosted a special live streaming event on Naver to countdown to the midnight release of their new single “Made Series-A” and the music video for their new track “BANG BANG BANG.”
During the special show, Seungri reveals that they’ve decided that each member will be running their own individual broadcast on Naver in July.
“In the past we did ‘BIG BANG TV,’ but now we plan to each do our own individual broadcasts,” he says. He then asks fans to tell them what kind of thing they should do on their shows.
The guys also talk about some of their own ideas for what they could do, such as a cooking show hosted by Taeyang. Taeyang throws this idea out pretty fast though, saying all he can make is kimchi fried rice and he can’t learn how to cook by July.
A fan also sends in the suggestion that T.O.P do a special show on art, to which T.O.P replies, “You should study that on your own.” Another fan asks him to recommend furniture during his broadcast. T.O.P shoots this idea down too, saying that they can get that from furniture stores. “My job is singing, you know,” he says.
What kind of things do you want to see the guys do on their individual broadcasts on Naver this July?

TAEYANG AND ACTRESS MIN HYO RIN ARE DATING, BOTH AGENCIES CONFIRM
Amidst resurfacing rumors, it has been confirmed – by Yang Hyun Suk himself, in a phone call with Daily Sports – that BIGBANG Taeyang and actress Min Hyo Rin are in a relationship.
Yang Hyun Suk started off by congratulating Taeyang, and said, laughing, “Taeyang has said until now that he’s been single his whole life. Even fans were starting to get worried.”
“I heard through his manager that it’s true. It’s not something to worry about; it’s something to congratulate [them on], I think. Taeyang is filming ‘Sketchbook’ right now so I couldn’t speak [with him] for specific details, but I’m happy for them,” added Yang Hyun Suk.
The two stars have been dating for two years now, according to reports, having met through the filming for Taeyang’s “1 AM” music video which took place in September of 2013, although the music video was released the following year.
Since then, various witness accounts have come up online, in which writers state that they’ve seen Taeyang and Min Hyo Rin together.
Fans also have gathered certain “evidence” online, including pictures of the two wearing what appear to be couple items, as well as SNS posts that suggested a dating relationship.
Yonhap quotes an acquaintance of the two, who said, “It’s well known among idols that the two are dating.” Also opening up to media, anonymous idol acquaintances of Taeyang said, “The two are dating pretty seriously,” and “As I know it, they’ve been dating for two years. They look great together, with their appearances and personalities.”
JYP Entertainment has also given a confirmation. A representative of the agency stated to My Daily on June 2, “It’s true that Min Hyo Rin and Taeyang are dating.”

FROM YG:
Is it a full album? Yes. This is Taeyang’s second full album. It’s called RISE and it has a total of 9 songs. It’s his first full album in 4 years since his first one, SOLAR, in July 2010.
What can you tell us about the title track? Taeyang took part in composing and writing several tracks in the album, but the sole title track is “Eyes, Nose, Lips”, a joint production with YG’s main producers TEDDY and DEE.P.
For the past few years, most YG artists promoted two or three title tracks. What is the reason behind the decision to pick a single title track for Taeyang’s album? Most songs in Taeyang’s new album were regarded as title tracks at one point, so selecting joint title tracks was the hardest task. This is why we chose “Eyes, Nose, Lips” as a single title track and decided to focus on it for early promotion. We offered Taeyang to be in charge of his solo album production 4 years ago, and late last year, when the album was nearing completion, we were about to make the tracks Let Go, 1AM, andBody the three title tracks. However, Taeyang was keen to work further on the album and at the end of last year, I actively got involved. As a result, we added tracks This Ain’t It, Stay With Me, and lastly, Eye, Nose Lips, which eventually became the title song.
Every time a new song was added, it was excellent enough to be the title track, but “Eyes, Nose, Lips” was chosen because when Taeyang sang the first line, it was so powerful that our past plans simply evaporated.
The excitement was passed on to me as I watched him record the song. I even suggested, “Youngbae, how about filming an M/V like this for this song?”—this was the first time for me to propose an idea for a music video for a YG artist since Big Mama’s “Break Away” 11 years ago. That is how much affection I have for “Eyes, Nose, Lips”.
From “Look Only At Me” to the recent “Ringa Linga”, most title tracks were done with dance performances—but “Eyes, Nose, Lips“ is a slow R&B song that steers away from dance moves and maximizes the strengths of Taeyang’s sentimental voice.
Single title track means one music video? Not exactly… We are releasing 3 music videos. The music video of the title track “Eyes, Nose, Lips” will be unveiled simultaneously with the online album on June 2nd at 12AM. The music video for “1AM” will be released on June 10th at 1AM. We recently decided to have an additional video for “Body”, the fastest-tempo song in the 2nd album, which we are considering as the follow-up track. It will be directed by Seo Hyun Seung and the release date is estimated around mid-June.
Thoughts on Taeyang’s imminent 2nd album release as the producer? Apart from “Ringa Linga”, which was already released as a single last year, there will be 8 new songs in Taeyang’s 2nd album, including the intro. Despite having 20 complete songs that Taeyang recorded for the second album, we carefully selected 9 songs in respect of his wish to focus more on quality than quantity. All the songs are truly exceptional that they could all be title tracks. Although there are more things I want to say about the latest album, I believe it is right for Taeyang to do it himself when it is released.
