Actually no but ok. Was never mad about her not leaving him lol. I just felt like there was multiple moments in the beginning and end of the scene she could have tried a bit more. AND just because I think that, which is also due to scene editing etc, does not equate to me blaming the character, cause I don’t. It’s not that serious just my own personal commentary and POV on a scene and it’s ok that it differs from yours.

daemon TELLS her to run and she does because she thinks rhaenyra and addam (complete stranger to her btw) are about to kill her. not her dragon. getting on the dragon and fleeing is a bigger risk because seasmoke and syrax could pursue and kill them both. her hope was most likely to escape with her life now and reunite with sheepstealer later.

rhaenyra then TELLS her "this is finished" and she falls to her knees because she thinks she's about to be executed. that fear is what sheepstealer reacts to. rhaenyra then COMMANDS her to get on syrax in the confusion of it all. her dragon is getting jumped and what can she say to rhaenyra? no? add another count of treason to the list? say, "oh um i'll actually stay here with the dragon you guys are about to kill!!! stop it please!" like she's not already on thin ice with that woman? do you expect rhaenyra to just let her keep wandering about with a wild dragon after all that's happened? rhaena finally thinks she's about to face the justice she deserves and has been evading for quite some time and she accepts it. she doesn't fuck off to a 5 star bed and bath to leave sheepy in the mud the way you guys are making it seem.

well of course nothing about a fantasy tv show is serious but your POV is literally something that didn't happen. i am allowed to say that, sorry not sorry. rhaena didn't wilfully abandon sheepstealer with the intention to just have him fend for himself. she really didn't have as much agency in that situation to have just "left him". she very clearly did not want to leave him given that she screamed when she realised he was hurt.

maybe what I'm about to say is #antiwoke but i don't think phoebe campbell was a good casting for rhaena. not because they're a terrible actor (the faces they make are a bit jarring sometimes but that's neither here nor there because they do have their moments) but because much like emma , i do believe they let their gender identity (or lack thereof) get in the way of portraying a thoroughly feminine character.

if bethany antonia could advocate for keeping baela's hair uncut, phoebe most certainly could too. no, the writing may not be within their jurisdiction and for that, i won't blame them. however, it's been pretty clear that the actors on this show have some say or suggestions in which direction their character should be taken (tgc refusing to have aegon kneel and swear fealty to rhaenyra). actors NEED to advocate for the characters they play. it doesn't seem like phoebe does that, sorry. they're losing me because i can't imagine a world in which a black woman reads the description of the white character they're set to play then reads the script they were given and alarm bells don't go off in their head. and I think it's particularly because phoebe doesn't have any affiliation with black womanhood or femininity that they're not interested in protecting the femininity of this black character.

playing rhaena as some boyish rugrat is certainly a choice and it's not made in good faith. and if the excuse is "well nettles was like that" i'm here to tell you idgaf. bc if that's the case, they wouldn't have made sheepstealer and rhaena bear responsibility for jace's death nor act like she has no bond with her dragon.
