Red carnations - Mingyu x reader - Hanahaki
Mingyu felt a pang of guilt in his heart as he walked out the door again. He used the same excuse he had used many times before. āWork needs me, you know I canāt say noā. He saw how it broke your heart every time he left and how clingy you were when he got back. He knew that you loved him. You had the Hanahaki disease after all. When you started throwing up red carnations, he knew it was for him. You were so happy to be able to spend time with him, despite your constant coughing. Mingyu enjoyed the time too and that was when he found himself falling for you.
Now, it wasnāt like Mingyu didnāt love you. No, he still did love you, but he craved the life of partying. He wanted to run his hands over girls he found beautiful and while doing so, he started to question his love for you.
The mafia was a tough job and you made it bareable when he came home but it was never enough, would never be enough for Mingyu. He knew how much it would hurt you and he was scared that if he didnāt love you anymore, your disease would come back. Yet, he still used the same excuse. You still believed him. Mingyu would go out, and pick up girls before fuck them in the bathroom, cleaning up and leaving. He would then rinse off the smell of perfume before going home to cuddle into you again. You would sometimes even question his hickeys, but he would simply brush it off as something from work.
Mingyu was even surprised you hadnāt picked it up yet. He wasnāt sure if you were just acting like you didnāt know or you really didnāt. Either way, he was grateful that he didnāt have to have that conversation with you yet, because he wasnāt ready.
You werenāt aware of his cheating, but of course his mafia was. When you spoke to the members about all of the extra hours he was putting in, they knew something was up. Eventually, they found him in a club. To some of the members, you were like a sister and it killed them to see this happen to you. They werenāt sure if they should tell you or not, but after Wonwoo explained how Mingyu was feeling, they all decided against it.
The more time that passed, the more Mingyu felt guilty, but he couldnāt stop. He got more risky, he started doing things at the house while you were at work. It made him feel dirty when you would do the same with him in the bed he had slept with a random girl only hours before. Still, he never broke and told you.
In the end, that was Mingyuās downfall. When you came home from work early on a Wednesday afternoon, you could hear it as you unlocked the door. You hoped and prayed it wasnāt true, but when you saw Mingyu on top of another girl, you couldnāt help but believe. Tears streaked your face as Mingyu finishes off. Thatās when he notices you. His face drops. He hadnāt heard you come in and the look you were giving him, broke his heart. You quickly turned away, not wanting Mingyu to see your heart broken face and made your way to the couch.
Mingyu quickly got dressed and lead the girl out the back door before making his way to you.
āThis is my fault, isnāt it Mingyu?ā
āY/N? What do you mean?ā
āI wasnāt a good enough girlfriend. Maybe if I was better, maybe if I gave you what you wanted more.ā
āNo, no, please donāt say that. Itās my fault.ā
āNo, itās mine, and I understand if you want to leave me.ā
āI... I think at this time, maybe it would be better. Because you deserve better.ā
Mingyu knew it hurt both of you but what he wasnāt sure of, was whether he would hurt more if your Hanahaki came back, or if they didnāt.
Mingyu knew that if the Hanahaki came back, you would have to make a choice, but if it didnāt, Mingyu knew that it was his fault you no longer loved him. Regardless, he packed up his things and was gone by morning. He left hesitantly, he had heard your sobs all night and he wanted to comfort you but he knew he didnāt have the right to when he was the reason.
It was strange to see you with his friends. Laughing and happy. Of course you still kept in contact with the gang, you had made some close friends after all. Yet, seeing you so happy, broke Mingyu. It reminded him of all his happy times with you and how badly he hurt you. He couldnāt take it back any more, even if he wanted to. The way you clung to Joshua, he knew that you and him were something more. It made his gaze soften and hold a sad look. When he took one last glance at you and Shua before going out to the field, he felt something in his throat. Mingyu coughed before looking at his hand. There, in his hand, sat (your favourite flower) petals. Mingyu could only slightly chuckle at how cruel the world really was.
