I know people call each other pretentious for talking about "Tumblr etiquette" but you've gotta understand that it's not a Tumblr versus Twitter superiority thing (not generally, at least) it's just about fandom spaces versus creator engagement. Tumblr is a self-governing entity; we solve problems on our own, we have well-developed practices and courtesies, we've figured out what works and what doesn't. And while I stand by the fact that you shouldn't be cruel or strange on the internet because "they'll never see" (they probably will) I also think those independent fandom spaces are super important. Usually the fandom as a whole is pretty independent, but it's a little different when it comes to real people. That's why some Twitch streamers are freaked out by groups of people who talk a lot about them: they just don't get it, they think it's over-the-top when that's literally what a fandom is. So while obviously ccs are allowed to do as they like and I wish them a good time around here, I do worry about things like them getting invested in a situation that has nothing to do with them + we would've resolved privately or wanting things a certain way when that's not the point of fan spaces.
