I design and sew for ball joint dolls, and specialize in bespoke or commission work. I have a background in theater costuming and fashion. I'm one of those people who still thinks 'work' should be fun, especially if you're running your own business. I love anime, manga, fashion history, steampunk and dieselpunk, vintage and retro, and draw on those styles for creative refreshment. I like a good challenge in custom commissions, but will turn down anything I don't feel I can honestly do. If your design is complicated, I will tell you how it's going to be broken down and put together and give you every option available to chose from. “Dior from the tulle up” project

I finally got situated where I could start my dream project from way back when I was in design school.  I have always wanted to do a classic Dior style goddess dress from the bottom up, all by hand, all couture techniques.  Much easier to do 1/3 size!  I finally chose a doll to work with, my Iplehouse SID old style body girl, and got going. The under dress is done.  Posting progress on my blog, but here is one photo.  

This whole set (dress, opera coat, and clutch purse) will be available for sale once I have completed it. I am making it to fit the old and new SID girls, with bust pads for anything smaller than the old Glamour Bust size.

BJD Size Custom Digital Embroidery

We’re now offering custom digital embroidery on a BJD scale. You can order an item made for your doll and have it personalized with your own design.  You send us an image and we set it up to stitch out.  It has to be stitched before the garment is cut out to sew, though.  We can’t do already made doll clothing without having to dismantle it seam by seam.  T-shirts and T-dress prices on the Etsy listing.  Chose your color and you get to say what goes on it.  

I can do pretty much anything in BJD size, panels for evening gowns, blue jeans, obi for kimono, all I need is an image, fabric and thread. Digitizing the pattern timing depends on complexity.

How to make a knitting pattern from a paper pattern on BJDCollectasy ^_^  This is my sample for the tutorial, but you can turn practically ANY paper pattern that fits your doll into a knitting pattern with a little math work.

Maskedcatdoll’s Yael and her outfit remind me of the gorgeous old Tasha Tudor illustrations, right down to her little lace up boots.  The proportion of the print is so perfect.

Modoll knock off of Popovy?

I just caught this on Fashion Doll Chronicles and double checked it, the original photo of the comparison and  is here by Monika Viktoria :

They (Modoll) say they copied a human model’s face, but the model doesn’t look a thing like the Popovy sister’s work, the Modoll doll does.  The only thing their (Modoll) doll shares with the human model is a slight cleft in the chin.  It seems to rip everything else off from the Popovy’s amazing art work but the original nuance, the spirit of the art work. That and from the photo on Fashion Doll Chronicles’ post on the subject, the imitation is rather a sad fail.  That hair is ‘styled’? O_o

Etsy Shop Opening Again

Hi, I finally got some dresses and tops I had cut out finished and ready for sale.  My camera seems to be washing everything out again, probably natural lighting and then too bright laptop display.  So, here’s a preview and I’ll be adding more dresses in styles and colors over the coming weeks.  Thank you for taking a look! ^_^  (and nope, bad doll owner, still no decision on which body for Arita yet.  She’s either going to be cream Soom Super Gem or caramel SID and I can’t do her face until that’s decided.

Sorry it took so long to answer, O_o my computers have beeing going nuts with the new connection.  

I think I may have crossed him up, I spend far too much time looking under and in things for my brain lately.  Your dolls are all so marvelous!  You do a great job.
