You know what I really miss about long distance relationships? That deep understanding that this person really, truly enjoys you. You’re thousands of miles away and that person is choosing to invest their time and their efforts in you. It’s so easy to forget about the people who aren’t present in your life every single day, but they’re working to make sure they’re present in all the ways they can be. And there’s such an intense level of trust in devoting your time and care to people you can’t see or touch or feel. They’re there for you, without much opportunity for selfishness. No one invests their time into long distance relationships if they don’t really want it. I miss that security of knowing that person is fucking with you not because they have no other options, but because you’re their first.
