So I just got back from spending the better half of a week in NYC with highcastle and it was an incredible experience (peep previous posts for highlights). Not only did I get to see the city for the first time, I also got to spend some time and work with HC on some new art that I’m incredibly proud of. This is a photo I took shortly after returning home, but it definitely alludes to what I was up to while in the city.

In our photo shoot I was able to push some of my personal boundaries and HC was there to document the stages of my breakthrough, which I’m beyond grateful for. I’m really excited to have some one of a kind instant prints in which the art of my sexuality is uncovered. Alongside the instants, we shot several rolls of film that document a step in my personal and creative evolution. The sad thing is that film photography is a pretty pricey art form, and due to that solely I might not be able to develop the gold that is contained within those canisters for a little while. It’s a shame because sexuality is such an integral part of human nature and identity- however the scope on sexuality seems to be crippled by conventional ideals. I, personally, am a pleasure seeker and find a great deal of happiness in trying new things. You never know if you never try and that’s why I jumped at the first opportunity to work with HC. His work is raw and uninhibited- which may be too bold or even intimidating to some people, but the bigger idea here is that SEX IS NOT A SIN. The ways that we expand and experiment with our sexuality shouldn’t be the things that segregate us rather than link us.

My intention as a creative contributor was not to create explicit or pornographic content, but to broaden the conditioned and narrowed view of sexuality and eroticism. There is more to sex than penetration and orgasms, just as there is more to highcastle than just erotic photography- his works exist to pry open our eyes and look at the way we view, experience, and even criticize the sex we want(but are too afraid)to have.

We both put money that could have fed us for weeks into this shoot because we believe that the message is important- SEX ISN’T SHAMEFULL. It costs about 10$ to develop a single roll of film, which isn’t a whole lot, but that sum adds up quickly when you’re looking at 20-30 rolls.
