San Francisco Muni streetcar no. 1040 is the very last of 5,000+ PCC-type streetcars built in the United States. 

It is also the last of a group of 25 single-ended PCC streetcars Muni purchased in the early 1950s. It was restored and runs in regular daily service on the F-Market & Wharves historic streetcar line.
