Had he misread her statement. “Why would you think that? Of course I’m happy to spend time with you. What big brother would say no to spend time with his little sister,”

       “Do I have to spell it out for you?? It’s not everyday we get time away from war you know! So I thought it’d be nice for JUST the two of us to hang out since we can spend time with mother and father later. It would’ve been nice if Jolt had joined a team too, preferably one that lost, so we’d be complete.”

    Really, she was just using the loser part of this as an excuse to be with him. She would have asked him later to join her, albeit in a more subtle manner.

“Yeah we could have all five of us been losers I guess. Honestly don’t know why Jolt didn’t come along. He just refused to participate you know. Wonder who’s team he would have joined,” Kirito debated while keeping his focus on Severa.

Kirito truly didn’t know why his brother didn’t want to come along. He could think about it for hours, but he never come up with a answer. Still he tried to pick up Severa’s spirits.

       “Ugh, no! I meant just the two of us. Forget the rest of them, we’re the only ones here now. This is OUR time together. You and me. Brother and sister bonding time as losers. Unless... you don’t want to be seen with your adorable little sister!?”

“At least you did something to help. I couldn’t even do that. I played the game, and wasn’t able to do anything,” Kirito only sighed. It was clear the saber was beating himself up to much for his failure. “You didn’t screw up as much as mother did thought. She hit one of her own teammates,”

    She gave her brother a watery smile in response, blinking away tears. As much as it hurt to lose to their mother (like always), it hurt even more to see him hurt. Perhaps it was time for her to suck up her pride and be helpful for once.

       “She did do that, didn’t she... Too bad Jolt didn’t join a team. We could have all been losers together- but that’s fine! We’ll be losers together, with or without him, and we’ll be the BEST losers anyone has ever seen.”

“You still did better then me. At least you were able to help your team. I couldn’t do anything,” Kirito tried to comfort his sister. He was still thinking of how usefulness he had been. “Bad saber”

       “Obviously my ‘help’ wasn’t enough! This is the WORST!! I can’t believe I lost to mother’s team out of all of them...”

       “I used to train with a friend who’s an archer and I dabbled in archery for a bit before becoming a Dark Mage. If I have to say, I’m better than average, but not close to Lord Takumi’s or Niles’ skills yet. I still have a little ways to go now that I’m a Bow Knight.”
