Uninvited Dinner Guest || Red Shadow
Alarm bells were ringing in her ears in that moment.
How was anyone around for this? Veronika was generally very good at keeping herself unnoticed and finding something to feast on with nothing else nearby. Granted she hadn't anticipated her ache for human blood to get so bad that she'd accost this late evening jogger but... here she was.
Veronika was still gripping onto the man's arms, her teeth no longer in his neck, but she was still leaning toward it, wanting to lick the pooling blood off. But she was being watched. She was watched and now someone knew she was out of control. Panic spiked, and she bared her fangs at the stranger.
"What do you... what is it you want?" Veronika tried to seem steady, but her voice shook a bit, still too disturbed by the fact she hadn't even heard this stranger until he was almost upon them.

The elf did not flinch when the creature showed their evolutionary equipped weapons. He did not anticipate that they would detach themself from the human in favor of attacking. Otherwise, they would have already done so, as soon as he had made his presence known and his location within the dark obvious.
Instead, he filed the sight of them away within his mind.
The question posed was a very good one. There were a great deal of answers to it. There were many things that he wanted.
Given the context, Daehínen doubted that she was referring to anything but the situation at hand. It would be irrational to think she was inquiring after his personal desires or requirements.
"For you to let the human go," he replied, plain and simple. And then he moved, quick and efficient despite the turbulent ground of the woods, until he was stood over the pair.
It was not smart for someone with his magic to touch anyone, especially without the consent of the other party and who was a threat. He acknowledged this. He did it anyway, having full faith in his mental shields to keep everything out.
Daehínen had not anticipated how visceral and powerful the creature's present emotions were– their mind was chaos at present. (Most beings' minds were in comparison to his.) It was as if his own had brushed against a live wire. But he took hold of the creature's wrist. He did not pull it or do anything but make his own strength known. (His mind continued to keep up the walls that protected it from the deluge of surface thoughts and emotions emanating from the other.)
"You will kill him...but you do not want to," he concluded. "His death is avoidable."
