oh for sure, they're both just kids, so i don't blame either of them for their behavior. Jaspvid is such a good dynamic like THIS, it's so good for me tbh to portray it in it's raw truth like this. That's so interesting, i hate how people just sand it all away like it's filler. Many people, in my opinion, never take full advantage of the jasper lives au to really look into Jasper.
The thing i think about most in regards to Jasper, it's just that he DIED in the middle of the lowest point of his young life, and that makes me more emotional than i thought it did. People think better of David because he got 14 more years of development as a person than Jasper did. They were both just kids responding to awful events and complex emotions, and only David was able to cope at all in the first place. Jasper's coping was cut off because he's in forced stagnation as a ghost, and he is forced to abandon any of his personal feelings of resentment towards David and just cry or pretend everything's fine because he CAN'T cope, he CAN'T work on things, he's a ghost. He's gone. aaugh me making myself sad by talking about Jasper and David. sobs in the corner.
SEE If Jasper got those 14 years, who knows how his feelings would've changed and developed? How he'd grow to take on his feelings and cope with what happened at camp? How he'd take on his complex feelings of both dependency on and resentment of David?
like. David protected himself and his pain, the traumatic event caused him to switch personalities essentially to keep himself safe.
Jasper chose to express his anger, wanting to scream and throw things and show how betrayed and hurt he is.
This incompatibility is so painfully clear, these two responses literally attack each other. They're tied together, yet so incompatible, they hate being near each other and yet David misses Jasper and vice versa. YAKNOW???
for the physical touch thing, i never see people really getting on that, and you're incredibly correct about that by itself posing a very real issue even if everything else wasn't toxic. a great point. It isn't likely to just go away either. God the duo is just fucked up in every single way. TERRIBLE for them. They'd likely argue constantly because the other's presence, despite mutual clinging, is attacking them just by existing.
(WANDER MENTION. WAAANDER- btw your analysis here on David is 10/10 no notes. David is so much more than the toxic positive camp man i love him.)
