So!

Apparently, the Chuffed posts I've been reblogging may or may not have been scams...

If they are, it just puts so many things into a new context.

The constant messaging every day, multiple times a day, no matter what I did.

The guilt-tripping and accusations of not viewing them as people and not caring about their suffering, even when I donated and signal boosted them.

Talking as if I was their only hope left, and that they hadn't gotten any money in days, even when their Chuffed donation pages showed that they'd gotten other donations just a few hours ago.

And claiming that my own donation (and supposedly the others, as well) "didn't go through" on their end.

Continuing to hound me for more money even after I tried explaining to them that I barely make anything as is and have multiple-digit medical bills to pay.

And especially the very similar ways they typed, and repeatedly called me by "my friend" in practically every single sentence. That should have tipped me off, above all else.

But they had multiple reblogs from other users claiming that they were vetted and gave them legitimacy, and I didn't want to even risk being callous if someone in a worse spot than me really needed help.

I've been on the Internet since before personal home computers were a thing.

I should know better than this.

Did my bleeding heart just make me stupid?

Well. Nothing for me to do now than try to make up the lost funds I might've just thrown away...
