*NEW* COSTUME FINDS (LYANNA + SANSA)
Alright so we ALREADY know the how they like to do lyanna/sansa hair parallels right?
I was doing a rewatch and thought it was a shame we couldnt see a good look at lyannas wedding dress but luckily they released some stills:
I was thinking how that criss-scrossed look seemed familiar……
“”””””””But Lyannas has criss-cross and a line down the middle!!!!!!!!!!!””””” ….wait a sec…..
In the actual show she wears a line down the middle too.
Interesting …. what a coincidence!!!!!!! Its totally not at all planned that the costume department deliberately invoked Lyanna in Sansa’s outfits (even when appearance wise shes closer to arya a la canon with their dark hair, their love of riding, ‘wildness’ , even the actor is chosen well and looks much like maisie, etc, but in fashion, the way they presented Lyanna to the audience was a nod to sansa…..what could it mean hmm)
BUT *THEN* THERES THIS OUTFIT TOO
(It was a very minor outfit in a very very dark scene…..i.e. an easily missed easter egg ;) also sorry for the shitty quality)
WHICH LOOKS AN AWFULLY LIKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
White-thin linen shift, thick tanktop straps, scoop neck, low cut?? what are the odds i wonder……….also sansa was curled up for the first half of the scene bloodied and bruised on her bed…..kinda similar to…… how strange
Ask yourself:
Whats the narrative purpose of this? Whats the costume departments goal/motivation for these similarities? And its NOT because Sansa is replacing or discounting Arya’s similarities with her aunt (they still honor Arya and Lyannas link with the horses, the similarities in actresses, etc.)
Rather it represents something else……forshadowing in some way maybe….. and if any of you say its forshadowing sansa’s death imma scream cuz no, so dont bother trying
Wow! this is great!
Taking your own life. Interesting expression. Taking it from who? Once it’s over, it’s not you, who’ll miss it. You know, death, it’s something that happens to everybody else. Your life is not your own. Keep your hands off it. Sherlock (c)
This shot here was when I knew that Jon was gonna fall in love with Sansa …
And of course R+L=J had not yet been revealed, and I felt so squicky about feeling that way … but damn, it hit me right in the gut.
Kit and his damn expressive eyes. And check Tormund … it was just an insanely intense scene before they even embraced.
ETA: ffs just cue Berlin “Take my breath away”

Sansa Stark and snow (Jonsa foreshadowing???)
One thing I enjoy about GOT was how they use the backdrop of snow falling with Sansa.
I saw a post once about the Starks + rain and how some people were asking if Sansa ever have that kind of scene with the show. The answer at the top of my head was a NO. Somehow the show has managed to not give Sansa any rain scenes which is interesting in and of itself because the other Starks were given one or more.
Rain scenes can help depict the kind of mood the show wants us to feel. We can feel the characters pain, misery and angst and being drenched with it. But somehow not with Sansa when she has also experienced so much agony and pain.
The only scene that I can think of that shows Sansa’s utter misery and being drowned in it was her scene with Ramsey
and the show use a “heavy fall of snow” to create a backdrop for her misery and pain and angst…
This made me want to go back to all those times when Sansa’s scenes has the backdrop of snow falling…
Sansa sees snow at the Eyrie
You can see the wonder in her eyes when she saw the snows fall… This made her think of home. This made her think of Winterfell. And this was confirmed when she made a snow castle.
It was this time when the audience knows that Sansa wants to go back to Winterfell. She wants to go HOME.
But when she is back in Winterfell, she realized that Winterfell will only be Home again if and only if the House of Stark will take back Winterfell from the Boltons.
Then we see Sansa, receiving fealty with the snow as her backdrop, not just as a backdrop but also with snow falling of course
Then when she reunite with Jon, there was again another snowfall… not too gentle but also not heavy… just enough to show a strong emotion…
Then we see another huge moment for Jon and Sansa’s bond in this scene again amidst a snowfall
another favorite of mine was this scene at the battlements
then when Jon and Sansa said goodbye
and last was when the time before she will do her first act of justice for the Starks and her first act as Queen in the North
I love how GOT has always given Sansa the snowfall backdrop. And more so with her scenes with Jon.
It always made me think of this passage from the books
“Snow was falling on the Eyrie.Outside the flakes drifted down as soft and silent as memory. Was this what woke me?….
…. Sansa eased open the door, and made her way down the winding stair. The snow drifted down and down
Drifting snowflakes brushed her face as light as lover’s kisses, and melted on her cheeks. At the center of the garden, beside the statue of the weeping woman that lay broken and half-buried on the ground, she turned her face up to the sky and closed her eyes. She could feel the snow on her lashes, taste it on her lips. It was the taste of Winterfell. The taste of innocence. The taste of dreams.”
So, Sansa associated drifting snowflakes as like a lover’s kiss, if that were not enough to make me think of a certain Snow lad, then I don’t know what would… Then the show gave me so many scenes of Sansa with snowfall/snowflakes and more so now that she is reunited with Jon.. This is what i call visual storytelling and I’m loving it.
Bonus: Sansa is kissed by fire and snow 😘.
Jonsa is here.
Jonsa is endgame. Let it be known. Now and Always.

I’m so glad someone wrote a meta about this! I was thinking about writing one but you beat me to it. Lol! I totally agree with you. Snow plays a big role in depicting Sansa’s emotions in scenes throughout the show. I also believe that the show is creating a theme of light and romantic snowfall in really significant moments between Jon and Sansa. I feel like snow has two purposes in Jon and Sansa’s scenes.
The first purpose is to create a romantic undertone/copy romantic tropes done in movies and tv shows countless of times.
The second is to depict Jon and Sansa’s individual emotions and the emotions they feel towards each other.
Seriously love this meta!
Reblogging for added meta 😍
This is for science as requested by @lostlittlesatellites
This is to establish a connection between Sansa and snowfall with Jon…
When Sansa reunited with Bran…this is what happened…
Note the absence of snow falling… snow was still all around them but no back drop of snowflakes drifting down… compare this to Jon and Sansa reuniting
Cue the snowfall of course…
When Sansa and Arya reunited there was even less chance for a snowfall since the show opted to have the scene at the crypts below.
Hence, depicting Sansa and Arya’s connection as that of their Father Ned and Winterfell itself.
This was hammered home at the battlements when they talked about him and how they need to be a pack
But what was interesting was their was no snowfall just a lot of snow can be seen but no snowflakes drifting down
compared to this scene
Lol. Such a huge difference. So, Sansa and snowfall is a thing in GOT but it is more pronounced when it is connected to Jon.
Before Jon and Sansa reunited, Sansa was given the snowfall backdrop and be reminded of “Home”. When she has already been reunited with Jon, the snowfall happened more with Jon or when Sansa mentions Jon like the time with Bran
So, in the beginning Sansa was reminded of “Home” when she sees snowfall, when she reunited with Jon, there were snowfall and everytime they are together in almost all their scenes, then when Jon is away, snowfall occurs when Jon is mentioned…
Again, snowfall with Sansa is JONSA foreshadowing.
For science ;)
For science!!! Lol. Reblogging again for the additional comments!!
Reblogging bc why not?
Jonsa is coming❤️

Jon Still Needs to Give Up His Honor/Duty For Love.
I feel like this is one of the most important roles Jon has to fulfill in season 8 because it’s been a strong/foreshadowed theme in his life since season 1. I personally don’t believe that Jon will fulfill this role because of familial love. I believe the show has set Jon up to give up his duty/honor for romantic love and here is why:
1. Jon doesn’t have an issue with giving up his honor/duty for his family.
In season 1 we saw Jon desert the Night’s Watch easily when he heard that his father was killed. Though Jon ended up staying in the Night’s Watch, giving up his honor/duty for his family has never been an issue. Jon giving up his honor/duty for someone he’s in love with is another story.
2. Jon loved Ygritte but it wasn’t enough.
The truth of the matter is that Jon can’t comprehend giving up his duty/honor for love because he hasn’t truly experienced it. Now I’m not denying that Jon had feelings for Ygritte but when someone is truly “in love” with someone you’re willing to give up everything to be with that person. The perfect show examples of this is Robb and Talisa, Sam and Gilly, and Rhaegar and Lyanna. Like Maester Aemon said love, real all consuming love, is the death of duty.
3. Jon’s friendship with Sam and him being a first hand witness for Sam’s love for Gilly.
Has anyone else noticed that some of Jon and Sam’s most heartfelt moments on the show has been about women/love? At the beginning of the series there was kinda an immaturity with both of them as they bonded about being virgins and Sam would complain about the Night’s Watch no sex rule (lol). As the show progressed and as they matured we really see Sam not only come into his own, but we see him fall madly in love with Gilly despite his vows and willing to do anything for her. Jon witnessed this. Jon knows how much Sam loves Gilly. Jon knows that Gilly and little Sam are his top priority, above upholding his vows. This matters! There is a reason/purpose behind Jon witnessing his best friend mature, fall in love, and abandoning duty for love. I will not be surprised to see Sam in season 8 advising Jon in this area.
4. Jon and Sansa’s deep rooted relationship that’s been established in season 6 and season 7.
The main problem I have with Jon and Dany’s relationship is that there is no basis for it. Other than the WWs there is nothing that connects Jon and Dany emotionally. Character wise they are nothing alike and they have two completely different goals and aspirations for their lives. Jon and Sansa on the other hand have established a deep rooted relationship since season 6. The two of them, who were virtually strangers to each other, who have the same dream and aspirations and who have been through hell and back together, have a relationship build on something that is lasting and tangible. These two seasons in my opinion was the set up to build the type of love that Jon would abandon his duty for.
5. Season 7 proving in more ways than one that Sansa is Jon’s weakness.
Last but not least I think season 7 established Sansa as Jon’s weakness. Some may not agree but I think the scenes involving Tyrion, Theon and especially Littlefinger proved that Jon has a weak spot for Sansa. For a season that was supposed to highlight Jon and Dany’s relationship why was there so much emphasis on Jon’s protectiveness of Sansa? What’s the point of of emphasizing that if it wasn’t going to come into play in season 8?
To conclude, in my opinion all of these points I’ve stated will eventually play a part in Jon giving up his honor/duty for his love for Sansa. I’ve stated before in my previous metas that I believe Jon’s biggest roles in season 8 would be his emotional roles or better yet the battles of his heart. I still believe that Jon will have a role in defeating the NK but I think ultimately the hero who will carry that out will be Jaimie ( potential the prince that was promised.)
*FYI I decided to post this meta I’ve been working on despite recent spoilers. But regardless of what comes out I’m still going to write metas based on how I see the endgame of the show.
Season 8 Preview:

Sansa: Take a guess.
Jon: No?

ASOS first jon & sansa chapters
Reading the first Sansa and Jon POV chapters in A Storm of Swords is like being hit with a strange sense of déjà vu, especially since Jon’s chapter follows right after hers. Shall we engage in a little game of ‘spot the difference’?
Both Sansa and Jon are brought upon a queen and king respectfully - who both insist they call them by their names:
Sansa knelt at the feet of her future queen. “You do me great honor, Your Grace.”
“Won’t you call me Margaery? Please, rise. Loras, help the Lady Sansa to her feet. Might I call you Sansa?”
- Sansa I, ASoS.
“I would be pleased to eat, Your Grace. And thank you.”
“Your Grace?” The king smiled. “That’s not a style one often hears from the lips of the free folk. I’m Mance to most, The Mance to some. Will you take a horn of mead?”
- Jon I, ASoS.

Inspired by this post by @sxpiosexualx - and also because I can totally see Sansa making a matching fur for Ghost. XD
“Sansa, is that a rabbit pelt…?” “Well we can’t very well have Ghost wearing the remains of his kind, can we?” “I see. Well done, sweetheart.”
Why is Sansa Burning these pages?
I was watching 7.06 again. In the scene where Sansa sends Brienne to King’s Landing, she is holding two pieces of paper that she burns in the same scene.
The scene starts with the camera focused on the papers. (It is also worth noticing that she is wearing the dress that she wears in 7.01 and 7.02 when Jon is around.)
The camera pans upwards and we see Sansa’s face. She seems impassive. Brienne is out of focus in the background, which means this shot was supposed to make the viewer look only at Sansa and her face expression. (In this entire scene all of Sansa’s shots are close shots meant to make the viewer look closely at her expressions.)
I’m beginning to think this few seconds long shot was just to show that it is lightly snowing outside. (There is meta about snow relating to Sansa. I don’t know the name otherwise i’d copy its link here.)
We see her throw both papers in the flame.
I find this extremely intriguing. The only two people I remember burning pieces of paper are Catelyn and Theon. Catelyn burns the letter Lysa sends her in Season 1 and Theon burns his own letter that he was going to send to Robb.
So what are these and why is Sansa burning them? If these were insignificant pieces of paper then there wouldn’t be so much focus on them.
Sansa was a lady at three, always so courteous and eager to please.
