And we all know that Asriel was a sweet boy both in undertale and deltarune

I think that when he was still getting used to his new reality he was accidentally dropping hints that they can actually conjure staff too.

At the same time, I do think that deep inside he can relate to bubbles stragle, even if they have a bit of a beef, and that would cause him to try to hide the fact that they have that ability

BUT, I did think that in some point he'll warm up to the other and he would slowly start to see their point of view

And then when ep 8 in the au would happen, I think that then Caine would tell them about that possibility.

this will perfectly show his growth, as he lets go of control and and joins the team

But hey

that's just a theory
