EVALUATION
At the start of the project I was not comfortable with any idea I had but over the weeks and after growing and exploring different concepts, I decided to go with the concept of lockdown. I did explore lockdown in the FMP concept last year but it mostly was exploring the more negative side in a way. In this concept, I want to be less negative and funnier but done ethically. I don’t want to make fun of the covid situation as people did pass away, I want to highlight the trends and scandals and much of the past two years in a light-hearted way. This project I attended to achieve my skills in various design areas both digitally and practically. My research was constructed of a lot of primary research as I went to lots of different types of exhibitions around Birmingham and this has helped me gain more of an understanding of how an exhibition should and shouldn't be set up. My secondary research mostly came from Pinterest as I felt like it wasn't forced research and that everything I found flowed with my concept. The research helped me massively in gaining more of an idea of my final concept as my concept is spread over several elements and each element explores a different meaning and a different design. I generated my ideas through many ways like mind maps but I found out that writing my idea out on paper or in my notes app helped me gain more of an understanding of what I needed to do and what I have done.
In this unit, I have done experiments linking to the idea of lockdown. The idea of the receipts developed quite quickly as it started very vaguely but after each experiment good or bad I have an understanding of my next steps. My time management has improved a lot during this project as I have been using Workflowy which is a time management app that helps you manage your days out and is very editable. I have gained and developed skills, for example, my Adobe skills as sections of my final piece include adobe aspects of my zine and my toilet roll. I have had many workshops throughout this project from Digital Marketing workshops to screen printing which all have helped me with this project and will help me for life. At the start of the project, I set myself some aims which I feel I have achieved in some way or another. I have planned out my next tests in line with the exhibition date. I do believe my outcome reflects the last two years for me.
Given the chance, I will change the way I want about certain aspects of how certain elements and would've given more time to create my elements. Going into the HND I want to keep on experimenting with my style and develop my skills when analysing and annotating people and my work.
I did sort of achieve what I set out to do which was to create a piece of work that highlights memorable moments from lockdown. I do believe this piece has and once finished will reflect the last two years during the lockdown. Looking back at it now, it has been a journey of some sorts and if I could change anything I would most definitely change the way I went through each idea and how detailed I should've gone into it. I have learnt many skills through different types of workshops like screen printing and such. Going forward my goal is to move up into the HNC course and develop and experiment with my style more in-depth and expand my horizons.
