After ISIS was able to break through our front line on our right flank early in the morning and they captured the town behind us, they sent a single, armored suicide vehicle to attack us from behind. The vehicle sped down this road, which leads to the front line and to where me and my group was gathered. We were out of anti-armor rockets and totally defenseless against this armored beast that was bringing death with him. Another armored vehicle, a Hummer from Zerevani, an elite Peshmerga unit, quickly realized ISIS’s intention and drove straight towards the suicide vehicle to intercept it. Right before they crashed in each other, the suicide bomber decided to blow himself and the vehicle up, injuring the two Zerevani Peshmergas. These two heroes saved our lives that day, something that we will never forget.
