Things I’ve learned about love

1. Love never means the same thing to two people and it’s best to try not to force them into one definition. For you being in love may make you want to skip around and tell everyone how happy and in love you are. But for him being in love may mean not letting anyone know because he doesn’t want anyone to taint it.

2. Love poems and love songs are not to be followed as the bible for love. Actions are. Follow his actions only then will you know how true his love is.

3. It’s the easiest thing to confuse heartbreak for love. It’s the mistake millions makes every single day. They may look similar like salt and sugar but they taste worlds apart.

4. Love will not like 100% things about you but love will never ask you to change any of it ever. You shouldn’t either.

5. There is so much out there on love. Everyone has so much to say and teach you and warn you about. So many movies and books that will give you unrealistic expectations. So many friends who will try to project their past when you ask for advice. You have to navigate it through it on your own with the one you love.

6. You have to form your own meaning for this four letter word. And god you have to resist comparing your love with anyone else’s because there is no standard measure and there is no guide book.

7. Someone who truly loves you will never ask you to stop doing something you love - a particular job, being friends with a certain someone, spending time with your family - they will never ask you to choose.

8. Trust your fucking intuition. Trust it over anyone else’s words - lies and promises.

9. Love doesn’t equate to 100% codependency. You don’t have to do everything together. You don’t have to know every little thing about each other. It’s great if that comes naturally but it shouldn’t be forced. It’s not a prerequisite for love.

10. Love will not shame you. Not in bed, not about your lack of a college degree or your family or about how cheesy you can get. Love will not make you feel ashamed for who you are.

Gain more knowledge. Grow your mental ability. Read, read, read. Don’t just watch TV and movies. Virtually all highly successful people do some form of daily educational reading. Regardless of what they read, they make sure it contains useful and meaningful information from which they can benefit from in the long run. Statistics show that the average person reads less than 1 book per year. If you could read 1 book per week, that would mean about 52 books per year. Now imagine what an advantage that will give you over everyone else.

i've yet to discover the sound that the heart makes when it breaks. does it yell out loud when it's angry? does it weep when it sad? and when it's lost, does it call for help? would anybody be able to hear it? how do you find a forgotten heart? tucked away in some abandoned place and giving it another chance of feeling again. sometimes an old heart just needs a new body and a lifeless body just needs a new heart. sometimes you just need a little bit of help from someone, for a heart to do what it is meant to do again.
