Silchar’s 8-year-old allegedly raped; accused on the run

GUWAHATI: In a horrific incident, a disgusting rape took place in Silchar, Assam where an eight-year-old was allegedly raped by her own uncle’s son. The incident took place in the city’s neighborhood named Malugram area. It is worth mentioning that the incident occurred on April 20 but since the family members of the victim underwent fear and mental harassment that led them not to register a case in the police station. However, the victim’s physical health was deteriorating day by day and hence she was admitted to a private hospital in Silchar.

Meghalaya sets up 3 oxygen generation plants to tide over COVID-19

Guwahati: To provide intensive care treatment to the critically ill COVID-19 patients, the state of Meghalaya has set up three oxygen plants.

Three civil hospitals in Tura, Nongpoh, and Jowai in Meghalaya now have emergency oxygen supply available. The plants utilize pressure swing adsorption (PSA) technology to produce up to 800 litres of oxygen per minute.

A total of eight oxygen generation plants are being installed in the Northeastern states of Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Tripura with the help of the Government of Japan and UNDP. The plants have the capacity to serve approximately 1,300 beds.

Breaking: Body of one trapped miner recovered from East Jaintia Hills coal mine site

Guwahati: Almost after 18 days, the joint search and rescue teams of the Indian Navy personnel, NDRF and SDRF recovered one of the trapped miners was finally recovered on Wednesday at Sutnga interior, under Umpleng Anti-Dacoity camp under East Jaintia Hills district.

The identity of the body has not been ascertained yet.

As per media reports, the body was stuck under debris in bottom of main shaft and this was traced during the Deep Diving conducted by the Navy personnel approximately 120 ft below.

BSF-BGB border coordination conference begins in Agartala

Agartala: The border coordination conference between Inspectors General, Border Security Force (BSF) and Region Commanders of the Border Guards of Bangladesh (BGB) level started on Monday through Video Tele Conferencing (VTC), keeping at bay the risk of COVID-19 pandemic situation prevailing in both the countries.
