We always get some customers asking why is the price of damascus so high, higher than some normal branded knives
The truth is, first: the raw material cost a lot, damascus is the best steel material at present. The price of ordinary steel may be some thousand or above ten thousand per ton, but our damascus steel is above 40 thousand to 50 thousand per ton, obiviously, that’s not the same thing
Second, the craftmanship and process of damascus steel is some more complex, devoted to a higher requirement of production. But it also easy to produce waste because of this heavy, complicated production. In a word, what we sell is the first level of the price, cuz we export a lot to foreign customers which they usually make it a thousand or more of one piece
[ Identify The Real or Fake Damascus ] The most simple and direct method is to check the pattern. If that is the natural pattern of damascus steel knife then it is the real one. For a fake piece, that pattern would be formed with a laser scanning, no grainy feeling. Border of each line looks the same. Some people say why not try acid washing, well we never said we couldn’t, that is a way. Real damascus won’t be afraid of acid washing, the pattern won’t disappear. Fake damascus is just the opposite, you will never find the pattern back. But we kindly suggest that, this is not a best way cuz acid is some poison item, and it may corrode your knife
