1908 Postcard of The Grammar School Ipswich UK - "Our love to you and your dear parents Mr. & Mrs. & the Miss Harveys join in love to you all. Ours are all well. When there is a 3 day excursion, we will come see you. fond love, M.A. Witter” . This lovely postcard was sent to my grandmother who had immigrated to the US in 1906. Fun find! A vintage map of Australia printed in The Courier Mail newspaper 26 Feb 1945. Sent from Cousin Edith in Brisbane Australia to my Grandfather Benjamin in SLC Utah. One of my favorite finds. The reference key indicates sheep & cattle population, city populations, train & plane travel routes; wheat, sugar cane & pearl farming; location of gold, silver-lead and copper mines. The quantity of sheep & cattle is astounding. For example, over 2.6 million sheep in Tasmania. (Is that possible?) 808,000 cattle near 90 mile beach close to Melbourne Victoria. Map by C.W. According to the England & Wales National probate calendar, at his death in 1877, his effects were 299 pounds 9 shillings 6 pennies. Ruby Amelia Woodcock 1896-1963 #genealogy #familysearch. She was the sister-in-law of my paternal grandfather. Likely taken early 1900s. Of course, it is possible this might not be Ruby but one of her children, as census records imply Ruby was in the U.S. when she was 4. Love a love letter? I found 7! Written at the end of 1926 from Benjamin Atkinson to Hilda Pinborough. They married June 1927. Without Ben's sweet letters and persistence, I might not exist.
