So caught up in his own greatness, in his own ability to handle everything... well then a guy like me comes along, and throws a wrench in it all, and all that planning means nothing. That’s why he hates Superman so much. He had this great plan to become beloved, and then an alien appears and does it with no effort. That’s the writer for you. He doesn’t realize he’s the villain of the story.” 

“Not like me. I accept my role. I relish it. Gives me freedom. You though? You’re like him. Stuck in a role. Of course I can tell you’re not bound by your own ego like him. You’re bound by trying to be everything else he’s not. You define yourself by being contrary, like a bird that defines itself by saying it’s not a fish. True, but meaningless.” 

“But then, that’s what makes you such a good character. You know, I was wondering about you when you said you were a Luthor. Wondering about how you fit in with the female alien girl. Wondering how all the pieces that the writer created fit together. But I see it now. I see the role you play. You’re the lamb. The one to be sacrificed, only for the angel to stop it at the last moment.”

“You might not believe this, but having the power to make people do whatever you want isn’t always the blessing it seems. If you aren’t careful, it gets downright boring. I’ve made people; men, women, children; do terrible, wonderful things. I’ve done it all. Or they have, I guess. Everything I can think of.” 

“But that has it’s limits. Orchestrate one tragic murder-suicide and you’ve orchestrated them all. So now... I don’t make it about what I want my puppets to do. I make it about what they don’t want to do.”

“That one monstrous thing they recoil from like a cockroach on their toothbrush. The image they can’t even believe their mind could conjure up. And then I make them do it, and I get to watch as they burn their souls to ash.”

“The purple man had sent these people after his children, and they wouldn’t stop until they had them. They literally couldn’t. They’d broken their hands to get through the front door, and that was wood. The door of the panic room was solid steel, inches thick.” 

“They’d kill themselves trying to get in. Bash themselves to death like a wave against the beach. They wouldn’t stop. They couldn’t.”

“That level of power... it warped him. I think there was probably something broken in him from the start but now... he’s just evil. As far as Killgrave’s concerned... We’re all just here for his amusement.” 

“He’s given himself women, money... He’s even played at being a family man. Anything he wants, until he gets bored. People, ordinary people, have to think about other people all the time. Caring, on some level, is an essential survival trait.” 

“But not for him. Not because he can’t. He just doesn’t have to. There is literally no incentive for the Purple Man to ever care about anything other than himself. There’s not point to it.” 

“Sometimes I think he’s the most dangerous man in the world.”

Why had everyone presumed what she did or does is ruthless, every time they heard that name Luthor it’s what they automatically saw in her.

She was ashamed to admit that the more what he did became all what people saw yet now that people close to her had convinced her other wise. She was okay once more with saying it.

“Didn’t know he had a sister. Seems like the type that’d either kill a sibling or turn them into a science project. Not that you seem too happy about me thinking you’re like him. You the black sheep of the family then? Luthor with a heart and soul and a hangup about torturing people in the name of ego?”

“Ruthless. I like that.” He did, really. He could respect ruthlessness. He was ruthless too, when he wished to be. “So, are you related to Lex? He and I have some history.” Not good history. Hatred, mostly. But then, Killgrave basically rubbed every powerful person the wrong way; he liked having power over them, and they rarely forgot it.

My favorite thing about comics universes? Superpowers are expected. 

Example, Casino’s have telepaths on the payroll to find cheaters. Mostly to detect other people who might use similar powers to cheat too. 

But I do like the idea that there are more roles for people with super powers than just hero or villain.
