What happens when her love was all for a bet?
It was a typical Friday morning. Y/n had just arrived at school, she was heading to her first class. In the hallway, she past a group of boys. It was Shawn and his friends. They were all talking amongst each other.
âLook at Y/n go. Sheâs the most innocent girl Iâve ever seen.â Said Brian, as he watched Y/n walk by.
âIâll bet $100 that one of you guys can break her.â Said Ian, as he pulled out money from his wallet.
âIâll do it. What are the rules?â Said Shawn.
âThe rules are that you have a week to break her heart. If you can do it, then this $100 is all yours.â Explained Ian.
âThat sounds easy. Iâm in.â Said Shawn.
Shawn had a plan. He was gonna make Y/n fall for him, and right when she does, heâll break her heart.
It was now lunch. Shawn tried looking for Y/n. He found her outside on the bleachers, reading a book. He started heading towards her.
âHey, whatâre you reading there?â Shawn asked, as he sat beside Y/n.
âOh hey, Iâm just reading The Great Gatsby.â Said Y/n, showing Shawn the cover.
âA classic. Daisy didnât deserve Gatsby.â Shawn said.
âDo you like to read?â Asked Y/n, while being shocked. She didnât expect someone popular to read.
âJust because Iâm popular doesnât mean I donât like to read.â Explained Shawn.
For the rest of lunch, Shawn and Y/n bonded over their favourite books. They learned more about each other.
âMaybe we should hang out after school. We can go out to dinner and discuss our favourite books.â Offered Shawn.
âOh I donât know, I donât really do dates.â Said Y/n.
âWell maybe I can change that. Iâll pick you up at 6. Hereâs my number. Text me your address. See you tonight.â Said Shawn, after exchanging numbers with Y/n.
Y/n was excited for tonight. Sheâd never gone on a date before. She didnât even know what to wear.
At home, Y/n was busy deciding what to wear for tonight. She called her best friend, who didnât really help on choosing an outfit. She decided to go casual. She chose some skinny jeans and a warm sweater.
It was now 5:45. Shawn would be arriving soon. Y/n started to feel nervous. She was excited to finally talk about her favourite books with someone.
The doorbell rung. Y/n ran downstairs to open the door. Shawn stood there in some skinny jeans and a denim jacket.
âYou look cute. Are you ready?â Asked Shawn.
Y/n couldnât help but blush at Shawnâs compliment.
âThank you, and yeah Iâm ready.â Y/n said, as she was locking her front door.
They head towards Shawnâs car. Once they get in, they head towards a cute little Italian restaurant.
âThis is my favourite restaurant. They have the best lasagna.â Said Shawn, as they got out of the car.
âIâm excited to eat here tonight.â Said Y/n.
Once they get inside, the waitress seats them. They decide on what to eat.
âMaybe Iâll get the lasagna since you said it was good.â Said Y/n.
âOh trust me it is. Maybe Iâll go for the Alfredo penne.â Replied Shawn.
After they order their food, they start to discuss their favourite things.
âHave you read the Harry Potter series?â Asked Shawn.
âOf course! What house are you?â Asked Y/n.
âObviously Iâm in gryfindor. What about you? You look like you could be in hufflepuff.â Shawn said.
âWell actually youâre wrong. Iâm also in gryfindor.â Said Y/n.
âI guess this was meant to be thenâ Shawn joked.
During their date, they found out more things they had in common. Y/n was starting to like Shawn. And Shawn was starting to like Y/n, but he remembered the bet. He felt bad that he had to break her heart. After their done dinner, they head back to Shawnâs car.
âThat was one of the best lasagnaâs I hadâ Said Y/n.
âI told you didnât I.â Said Shawn.
âWe should hang out more. I had a really good time.â Said Y/n.
âYeah, we should hang out more at school.â Said Shawn.
They arrive back at Y/nâs house. Shawn walks Y/n to her front door.
âThank you for tonight.â Thanked Y/n.
âNo problem. I had a great time, Iâll see you on Monday.â Said Shawn, as he kisses Y/n on the cheek.
Y/n felt butterflies. She was starting to form a crush on Shawn. All throughout the weekend, Shawn and Y/n were texting non stop. Shawn was starting to regret this bet.
It was now Monday morning. Shawn told Y/n to meet him before class started. Y/n was waiting in the hallway by her locker.
âGood morning. I had fun on the weekend talking to you.â Said Shawn, as he approached Y/n.
âGood morning to you too. I enjoyed talking to you too.â Replied Y/n.
At lunch, Shawn and Y/n hung out at the bleachers again. And enjoyed each otherâs company.
As the week went by, Shawn and Y/n hung out more and more. Y/n was developing a crush on Shawn. She started getting more and more nervous around him. Shawn was also starting to like Y/n more and more.
It was now Friday, also the last day of the bet. Shawn had a plan. He had asked Y/n on another date. Y/n on the other hand was excited for the date.
Shawn said heâd pick Y/n up at 7:00. Y/n started to get dressed for the date. She picked a cute dress. She had a feeling this would be the date where he would ask her to be his girlfriend. But little did she know.
Y/n was all dressed. She looked at her phone and it was 6:50. Shawn could be arriving any minute now.
The time went by and so did Y/nâs patience. It was now 7:30, and no sign of Shawn.
âWhere could he be? Maybe he got stuck in traffic. Iâll just wait a bit more.â Thought Y/n.
A few minutes go by. Y/n decides to sent Shawn a text asking where he was. Still no response.
Y/n was starting to become more nervous. She never felt this way for a boy. And heâs not even showing.
Itâs now 8:00, no text or call from Shawn. Y/n is heartbroken. She wants to cry.
âThis canât be happening. Shawn just stood me up. I knew he wouldnât ever date a girl like me.â Thought Y/n, as she had tears running down her face.
Y/n decides to change out of her dress and take off all her makeup. She gets in bed and cries all night.
All weekend Shawn didnât text or call Y/n. Y/n knew this was too good to be true. She was heartbroken, but little did she know that this was the plan all along.
It was now Monday morning. Y/n had bags under her eyes, from all the crying she did on the weekend. Y/n was ready to confront Shawn.
Shawn was in the school hallway, with his group of friends. They were discussing the bet.
âGood job Shawn. You did it. You broke her heart. Hereâs the $100 I promised.â Said Ian, handing Shawn the money.
Shawn felt bad. No girl deserves this. But he knew he couldnât fix this. He broke Y/n.
Y/n spots Shawn and his group. And makes her way towards them.
âShawn! How could you? I canât believe you stood me up. We got to know each other. And I was starting to trust you.â Y/n cried out.
Shawn felt guilty. He didnât think Y/n would be this heartbroken. Y/n was a nice girl and didnât deserve any pain she got.
âAw did Shawn break your heart? Well sweetheart, sorry to break it to you but this was all a bet. You actually thought Shawn would like you?â Said Ian.
Y/n didnât know what to think. She couldnât believe that Shawn was just doing this all for a bet. Y/n was completely deviated.
âIs this true Shawn? Was I just a bet to you?â Said Y/n, with tears streaming down her face.
Shawn was quiet. He didnât want to admit it. But he had to.
âYeah itâs true. Iâm sorry Y/n. I didnât mean for it to get this far. I really like you, I hope we donât end like this.â Said Shawn.
âIâm sorry Shawn. You shouldâve thought about this before you agreed to the bet. Canât believe I fell for this.â Y/n started to walk away, while letting all her tears fall.
Shawn wished he never agreed to the bet. He couldâve been happy with Y/n, but instead he lost her. And he knew he couldnât get her back.
Y/n on the other hand was broken, she felt stupid. She fell for Shawnâs games and was left with a broken heart.
