The way you scouted Oguri Cap was... different than normal.

You knew it was going to be hard to scout an umamusume for the first time, especially since you were only a rookie. So that means its time to get creative!

Your family owned their own humble restaurant, and they just opened in the area. You figured you could cook some food for the Umas looking to be scouted (and get them on your good side) while also doing some free promo for your family! It was a win-win!

You set up shop near the race course so you could get a front row seat to the racing and look out for possible trainees. You were organizing your samples when you hear the announcer,

"Oguri Cap takes the lead with only 400 meters left! Will another Umamusume take the lead? Whats this?! Oguri Cap seems to have veered away from the pack!"

From your stand, you watch curiously as the leading Uma starts running completely off course. Was this some kind of new strategy you were unfamiliar with? Huh, that strange, why does it look like she's running towards you... and even faster than before?!

"Oguri Cap has gone completely off course and has been disqualified from the race!"

The audience all watches closely as Oguri, for some reason, is charging right towards your humble food stand only to stop just in time before colliding with it.

You stare at her bewildered, "C-can I help you?"

With a blank stare, as if she hadn't just charged toward a stranger, she asks, "Are these free samples?"

"Y-yes... please have as many as you want." Somehow, you feel somewhat bad for making her go off the turf - but she really didn't seem all that bothered. In fact, she seemed to be preoccupied with gorging on all your samples.

Wait, all of your samples?

In approximately 4.7 seconds, it seems like all those samples you had lovingly placed were now lovingly swallowed into a particularly hungry umamusume's stomach.

"Are you making more?"

And that's how you became the personal chef trainer of Oguri Cap.

While after initially being pretty pissed your hours of hard work were demolished in just seconds - you couldn't stay mad at her for very long.

Turns out, an umamusume completely going off the race course for food from scent alone was pretty good publicity!

Oh! And you also didn't have to worry about scouting anymore! Or wasting leftovers!

Unfortunately, this came with a couple of downsides.

"Oguri... can you please get up? We have to train... the Arima Kinen is just a week away!" The familiar scene has just occurred, and despite your naivety, you hoped that maybe it would be different this morning... but Oguri Cap just wouldn't get out of bed.

You let out a sigh, "Fine, if you get up now, I'll make you a three-course breakfast."

And just like that, Oguri suddenly remembered she had legs! Like to move around! And race! Wow! Amazing!

Honestly, sometimes you wonder how long you could get her to run if you tied a chicken leg to a string. Hmm... a new stamina training, perhaps?

As for your family, they LOVE Oguri!

Whenever there's leftovers at the restaurant, she makes sure nothing goes to waste.

She's also become your restaurant's official food critic.

"An interesting texture, but it's hard to bite into. Definitely needs more flavor. I'd probably give up on this one."

"Oguri, that's a sponge."

But despite everything she's ever tasted, your dishes are by far her favorite.

"It has the scent that led me to you. Of course it's my favorite."

Awww... wait, did her stomach just growl again?!
