Blaine smiled when Shay kissed his cheek. These affectionate gestures, whilst unfamiliar, were really growing on him. “Don’t be silly. What kind of secrets from you am I going to be keeping with the likes of Santana ‘I terrify everyone I talk to” Lopez?” he asked, only half joking. He still couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that they were apparently close. That was definitely weird. Who even was he these days?

Blaine watched completely enraptured by the movie. He knew he was going to love it, but he’d also bee a bit worried that it wouldn’t quite live up to what he’d built it up to be in his head. He was glad to find that it definitely hadn’t been a disappointment. When the credits began to roll Sheamus planted on on him. It caught him by surprise and made him blush that they both had family right there, buzzing around the place - even though nobody gave even a quarter of a damn. It was silly, but he’d reverted back to being very shy. He just nodded in answer to the first question, a bit embarrassed to admit he was embarrassed. “It’s great, but where’s the remote? I know there’s more - I’m not quite that new” he joked.

Shay blushed and shrugged. “I don’t know if maybe you had questions for them about us or wanted to talk to them about how you were feeling about all of this.”, he tried to explain. He could help giggling when he heard Blaine’s nickname for Santana. “She can be terrifying like when she gave me the “you hurt my Blainey and I’ll put you in the hospital” talk.”, he told him honestly. “But her heart is in the right place. Santana really is a good friend to both of us.”, he added.

Sheamus smiled at his fiancè as he enjoyed the movie. It broke his heart that Blaine didn’t remember anything for the last four years and he was happy that the movie took that off their minds for the couple of hours. He looked him in the eye when he pulled back from their kiss and saw the embarrassment there. In a lot of ways his lover was the young fourteen year old he was when he last had memories of his life. “Baby, would you prefer if I only kissed you when we are alone?”, he alone he whispered in his ear. They watched the end scene after the credits and started a different movie. Shay cuddled with Blaine as they watched the DVDs.

“Okay, great” Blaine smiled. “Though maybe we should just call them. I don’t want them to see us and be more worried. No offense, but you look like hell and I’m sure I look pretty bad too. You can definitely be there though. I’m sure they want to know you’re okay too.”

“I know, it just makes me feel bad” he whispered back. He understood that nobody in their right minds would get upset at somebody with moderate to severe brain damage for not remembering their name right away, but it didn’t mean he didn’t feel guilty and embarrassed that his brain wasn’t working right. “Awesome!” Blaine agreed excitedly, settling down to watch it. At least this would be a lot of fun. He took his snack from Megan, happy that she had been so thoughtful as to introduce herself properly. It took a lot of pressure off. Now he wouldn’t have to sit next to her for two hours, silently wondering who she was and reminding himself to ask Sheamus later. That could have really ruined Avengers for him. “Sure” he replied. “The more the merrier.”

“Yeah, the two of us do look a little worse for wear. I wouldn’t want to scare anyone.”, Shay agreed. He kissed Blaine’s cheek. “Thank you. I just want you to feel free to call your friends and ask them questions and things that you aren’t comfortable asking in front of me.”, he told him.

Sheamus smiled at his fiancè as he became excited by the movie. He cuddled into his side with his arm across his shoulders as he took his soda and popcorn from his cousin. It was a little weird watching a movie with Blaine without making out with him during it but he was enjoying watching his reactions to the movie. When the movie was over he gently kissed Blaine’s lips. “I hope that’s okay.”, he told him. “What did you think of the movie?”, he asked.

Blaine smiled at the compliment. Wow, these people were all so warm and kind and although he didn’t remember them or his fiance, he was extremely grateful that Sheamus had them around him, especially right now when things were and would be so difficult. He was going to need someone and Blaine couldn’t guarantee that he’d be all that useful to the guy most of the time. “Thanks, uh…” What had Sheamus called him? Paddy? “I’m sorry, Patrick, right? Thank you, Patrick, that’s sweet of you to say. You seem lovely too” he returned politely.

Giggling, he followed Sheamus into the living room. “I think it’s cute. It’s nice that you’re so close with your family.” He was about to reflexively go into a detailed explanation of his own family’s dynamic and how they were sort of close, but sort of not, before he stopped himself, realizing that it wasn’t necessary. “I feel like I should probably call Ev and Corrie, and apparently Santana. Sam’s probably heard too - I’m still friends with Sam, right?” he asked. Just one more thing on the list of things he didn’t know about his own life. He’d barely scratched the surface, but like… no big deal or anything. It’d be totally fine.

He just let his fiance’s grandmothers fuss over him and nodded as they told him everything. “Um… I don’t know what my favorite is, but I really like anything with pasta. And chocolate for dessert. I love chocolate” he replied, wanting to give them an answer but not be too specific or sound like he was actually asking for anything. When they left the room and another or Sheamus’ cousins (shit, what was his name again?) suggested they watch every Marvel movie that had come out in the last few years. He looked at the stack of DVDs on the table; Thor, The first Avenger, Avengers, Iron Man 3, The Dark World, Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy, Age of Ultron, Ant-Man and Civil War? He had so much to catch up on just in the MCU, but at least this part would be fun. Not many people got to binge movies like that for essentially the first time. “Sounds great” he replied enthusiastically. “Where do we start? Oh! Yeah, I remember the Avengers movie was about to come out. I mean I’m happy to watch anything before that too, but that’s where I’m at” he clarified.

Sheamus had to giggle softly at the way Blaine spoke to his family members. It was way too cute and dapper. “You have always been my dapper man, Blainers.”, he whispered as he cuddled up to his man next to him on the couch. He nodded. “Yes we should call Sam, Santana, Ev and Corrie tonight after dinner. They are all aware of what’s going on thru group texts with my cousins and siblings. I knew how worried they would be about you. Maybe we could Skype them together unless you want to talk to them alone. I understand if you need to talk to your friends alone.”, he told him.

Shea’s grandmothers went into the kitchen chatting about what types of food to make their newest grandchild for his first dinner home from the hospital. Shay smiled and leaned down to Blaine’s ear. “That’s Colin, baby. No one will feel bad if you forget their name. We all understand.”, he whispered to him as he squeezed his hand in solidarity. Shay grinned at the movies. “Let’s watch them baby! We can start at The Avengers. I bet you will love it.”, he added as he stretched out next to Blaine. Colin put the movie in the blu ray player and started the movie while Paddy turned off the lights. Megan, Paddy’s little sister, came in carrying a tray of sodas and bowls of popcorn. She handed them out before climbing on the couch on the other side of Blaine. “Hi I’m Megan. I am Paddy’s sister. I am 16. Do you mind if I watch the movies with you?”, she asked him.

Blaine wasn’t sure if he was going to be able to get used to strangers using nicknames for him, but he appreciated the kind offer of help from whom he assumed was a relative or less likely a friend of Sheamus’. “Thanks though” he replied with a small smile and a shrug. As they made their way into the house, he turned his smile on the other man. “Shayme, huh? That’s cute. I think it suits you… I might start calling you that too” he teased.

Patrick smiled at his little cousin’s fiance. “You are welcome but you don’t have to thank me, Blaine. It’s what you do for family. I know you don’t remember anything about Shayme or us right now but from the first trip my baby cousin made to visit us after you started dating he couldn’t stop gushing about you. Honestly you would’ve thought you were the greatest thing since sliced bread by the way he spoke about you. After meeting you three days ago, we all could see you were as wonderful as he told us you were.”, Patrick told him honestly. 

Shay blushed with embarrassment at what his cousin told his man and from being called Shayme. He shook his head slightly as he led Blaine to one of the couches in his Mam and Pap’s living room. “I couldn’t say Sheamus when I first started talking. I would tell people my name was Shayme instead of Sheamus. My older cousins still call me Shayme quite often, Paddy does more than anyone.”, he explained. 

Shay’s grandmothers both came over to them to fuss over them. They tucked quilts around them and made sure they were comfortable. Mam set a baby monitor on the coffee table and switched it on. “We have the other end in the kitchen so if you need anything just call for us. Blaine if you need the bathroom it’s just down the hall on the right. It’s the second door in on the left side of the hallway.”, she explained. “Now we already know our Sheamus’s favorite foods but we don’t know yours. What is your favorite dinner and dessert?”, Shay’s other grandmother asked Blaine. Once they went back to the kitchen the other young men in the family migrated towards the living room to hangout with them. Colin the cousin closest in age to Shay smiled as he set the blu ray movies he had brought from his house for his cousin and his fiancee to watch on the coffee table. “You told me the other day that you liked super hero movies. My mom told me you couldn’t remember anything from the last four years so I brought all the Marvel movies that came out since then so we can watch them. Would you like to watch one of them?”, he asked him.

“Okay, Mam” Blaine replied, offering the older lady a warm smile. He was really starting to get the measure of these people, even if he didn’t remember them and he was going to like them very much indeed. He turned back to his mom. “Okay, Maymay. I’m sure we’ll be fine.”

Cuddling close into the unfamiliar familiarity of Sheamus’ arms, he managed a smile once more. “I know” he agreed. He wasn’t quite sure how he knew, but he knew. He could trust Sheamus. He wished he could say those three words back, but it just wasn’t possible. “I promise I’m here for you too. I know this is even harder for you than it is for me.”

Sheamus smiled down at the love of his life as he held him in his arms. “Thank you for trusting me. I don’t know if I would be able to do the same thing if I didn’t remember you, baby. I am so proud of you for handling all of this so well.”, he whispered to him. He wished his fiance was able to say he loved him back but he understood why it wasn’t possible. “Let’s just say it’s hard for both of us and we’ll be there for each other”. he suggested as they drove to his Mam’s house. 

Once they were parked in the driveway, Shay’s oldest cousin Patrick came out to help them get in the house. The six foot six inch red head looked down at his baby cousin and his fiance and smiled. “You need help Shayme? What about you little Blainers?”, he asked. “I can carry you in the house if you aren’t feeling up to it.”, he offered. Shay shook his head. “Paddy would you stop calling me Shayme? I’m not a baby anymore.”, he huffed as he started to get out of the car. He moaned softly in pain as he straightened up and it pulled on his ribs. “I am not sure if it’ll be better for you to carry me coz but you might want to follow us just in case we need help.”, he suggested as he started walking towards the front door holding onto Blaine.

“Thank you, ma'am” Blaine replied all formal and polite, smiling gratefully at Sheamus’s grandmother. She seemed really nice. Sure, if he was going to be marrying her grandson, she probably considered them to all be family by this point, but she still didn’t have to put them up in her home at literally no notice. Blaine would have to do something nice for her and the rest of the family who’d been so good to him and his own family. He hadn’t even the faintest clue what right now, but he’d definitely do something. He’d talk to his Maymay who he knew would be just as grateful - she’d think of something they would appreciate. Blaine’s heart sank when his mother told him that she’d need to get back to work soon. He was brain damaged for heaven’s sake, and she still couldn’t take enough personal time to help him fully recover or rehabilitate. As a young adult, Blaine had learned to understand that his parents did love him as well as his siblings very much but just had a rather warped sense of what they needed, and could accept them for whom they were. They were two good but flawed people trying to parent four very challenging offspring, three of whom hadn’t even been planned, instead just showing up unannounced in-utero one day. Blaine wasn’t the same person who’d been coming to terms with the less shiny parts of his otherwise wonderful upbringing for that crucial extra few years, and who was used to having Sheamus there to fill that void and the news broke his heart a little, as well as leaving him feeling vulnerable. He never was one to make a fuss though and he knew that he’d already caused everybody quite enough trouble. “Okay, Maymay. Just tell Coop to be nice. You know what he’s like. He’ll feel sorry for me for like a week and then he’ll be finding a way to use this to torture me.”

Shay’s grandmother was surprised at first that he thanked her for doing something that you are suppose to do for your family. She realized why when Blaine’s mother said she would have to go back to work soon. She couldn’t imagine leaving her child, who had just suffered from a head injury, with people he could not remember and his older brother. She took a deep breath and shook her head. “You don’t have to thank me, love. You are a part of my family. I would do the same thing for any of my grandchildren. Also you can call me Mam like all the rest of my grandbabies do.”, she told him before she kissed his forehead. Blaine’s mom smiled sadly. “Cooper has already been warned. Call me if he acts like a jackass. I will straighten him out”, she told him.

Both the boys were wheeled downstairs to the car where Shay’s Pap was waiting for them. He came over and helped the boys get into the backseat while Blaine’s mom went to get her rental car so she could follow them. Shay cuddled into Blaine’s side and held his hand once they were in the car. “I know it hurts, baby. I’m sorry but I promise I will always be there to take care of you. You won’t ever have to be alone. I love you.”, he whispered in his lover’s ear.

Blaine nodded as his question was answered. He really did want to go home as soon as was physically possible, but on the other hand, he did understand why the doctors wanted to avoid them getting on a plane for a little while longer. It probably had more to do with Sheamus’ lungs being kept at a stabilized pressure than it did to do with his ow injuries, but of course he wanted to stay with his fiance, whether he knew him right now or not.

Wanting to be a comfort to him, Blaine held onto his hand nice and tight, whilst refusing to watch the tube being removed from Shay’s side. He was fine with blood and medical procedures or things like that, but seeing Sheamus’ in pain was way to unpleasant.

Blaine looked from Sheamus’ Mam to his own mother and back again before addressing his fiance’s grandma. “Can Maymay and Coop stay too?” he asked sincerely. He was starting to feel things for Sheamus, for whatever those few unidentifiable emotions were and his family were probably lovely too, but they were strangers and nobody wanted to be alone with strangers when they were vulnerable. He wasn’t scared to be, just uncomfortable with it. He needed his mom and his oldest brother was kind of an asshole to him most of the time, but his family had been his family for his entire life and their presence was a comfort.

Sheamus was almost afraid his lover would put two and two together and figure out he was the reason they couldn’t fly home yet. He was worried that he would decide to leave him there alone, after all he couldn’t remember anything about the two of them being together. Why would he stay with someone he couldn’t remember? That was why he was relieved when Blaine decided to stay with him. Shay felt comfort in holding his man’s hand while the chest tube was being removed. 

Shay’s grandmother nodded. “They have been staying at my house since we found out about you two being hurt. All of you will stay there until you can go home to the states, dearheart. Don’t worry.”, she told him. Blaine’s mom helped him get into a wheelchair at the same time Shay’s Mam helped him. Blaine’s mom smiled sadly. “I will be here with you until you fly to the USA. Then I will go back to work but Coop will be there for you and so will Shay’s family.”, she explained.

“Okay” he replied with a nod, reaching over to take Sheamus’s offered hand. He wanted to be some kind of comfort to the other young man as he was allowing him to be for Blaine. Plus he still wanted to maintain as much contact as possible, in order to try reforming their bond.

“Have we been here long? In Ireland, I mean” he asked simply. He didn’t want to make it sound like he was desperate to go home, but he really was.

“We have been here for three days. The doctor wants us to stay in town for a few more days. We will go home as soon as its safe for us to fly.”, he told him before kissing his cheek.

A few minutes later a doctor came in to remove Sheamus’s chest tube. He came around the side of the bed and explained what he was going to do. He cut the stitches and had Shay take a deep breath and let it out. Shay squeezed his fiance’s hand as the doctor pulled the tube out. It hurt when it was pulled out. The doctor put a bandage on it an reminded Shay to come back and have an x-ray done in three days to make sure he was safe to fly. He wrote them both prescriptions for pain medicines. The doctor left and his Mam and Blaine’s mom came back in. “Are you guys ready to go to my home?”, his Mam asked.

Blaine blushed and buried his face against Shay’s shoulder. “That doesn’t help” he chuckled. Once everyone else left the room again, the nurse set about removing the catheter. It was by no means a pleasant experience, but he screwed his eyes shut and held Sheamus’s hand tight until the mentally and physically uncomfortable procedure was over.

Breathing out a sigh of relief when he felt the tube completely gone and his privates covered back up, he opened his eyes again and smiled at Sheamus. “That’s better. All set, I guess.”

Sheamus ran his hand up and down his lover’s back as he buried his face in his shoulder. “I can guess how it must feel”, he said to him. He was over the moon though that Blaine was looking to him for comfort. He may not remember him exactly but anyone could see he knew he wanted him to be there for him. He held his hand and pushed his curls back from his forehead as the nurse took out the tube and kissed him gently when it was done. “I am glad and now we have to wait for them to take us to get my chest tube taken out. We’ll get to go home then, well to my Mam’s home.”, he said holding his hand.

It didn’t take long for the discomfort to subside, and then Blaine felt bad for making quite such a fuss about it and obviously making Sheamus feel guilty. “It’s alright, it’s okay, don’t worry. Everything’s going to be just fine” he soothed. Sheamus was being so sweet and wonderful to him, the least he could do was be there for him too. “But yeah, I do. I don’t need it anymore and it’s kinda weirding me out.”

Then a bunch of people came in, the only one he recognized being his own mother. He was incredibly embarrassed about being caught in bed with Sheamus, but he just had to deal with it. Nobody seemed to think it was weird considering his condition. “Yeah, I’d like to go with him” he confirmed.

Sheamus smiled and kissed his fiancé sweetly. “I’ll get them to take it out, baby. I am sure that doesn’t feel very good.”, he told him sweetly. He was surprised by the nurses and their family coming into their hospital room. He was happy that they hadn’t walked in while they were fooling around. 

Shay saw the embarrassment on Blaine’s face that they got caught in bed together. “Babes your mom and my Mam have caught us in bed together before. This is not as embarrassing as the first time by your mom.”, he whispered in his ear. The nurses nodded. “You can go with him but first let’s get that catheter out.”, the nurse suggested. He sent their mother and grandmother to wait outside while they removed the catheter.

It felt really good for a while. It was a weird kind of good - not quite right somehow - but it was good nonetheless. Except for after a little while, he became fully hard and his cock began to ache way more than the feeling when he needed more sentation. Then as Sheamus moved against him, something down there started to… scrape and sting. He whimpered once, not in pleasure but in pain, and that was when Sheamus paused to speak.

“I’m sorry, I can’t. Please don’t touch me” he managed to get out, before scrambling to look under the blankets. Obviously nobody had known if he would wake up, let alone when, so they’d inserted a urinary catheter.  “I got one of those pee tubes in my dick” he explained.

As soon as he looked Blaine in the eye and saw pain he untangled their legs. Shay eased away from his lover, lying by his side instead. “I am so sorry baby I never meant to hurt you.”, he said almost in tears. Once again he was a little overwhelmed. His fiancé still didn’t remember anything about their life together and they had gotten swept up in hormones and he had hurt his lover. He heard Blaine say it was a catheter that was causing the pain and took a deep breathe. He had to be strong for his fiancé. If Shay was scared and hurt and remembered everything, how must Blaine feel. “I am sorry. Do you want it out of you?”, he asked right as two nurses, Shay’s Mam and Blaine’s mom came in. “Good to see you both awake. Shay we are going to take you to get the tube out of you chest.”, one of the nurses told him. “Can my fiancé come with me?”, he asked suddenly scared. He wanted Blaine to hold his hand and tell him everything was going to be alright.

Incredibly grateful for Sheamus’ patience and understanding when it came to what was expected of him emotionally, Blaine thanked him with pliantness, allowing him to essentially tongue-fuck his mouth and press their bodies impossibly close. Shay smiled at him and ran a hand thru the curls on the side of his head that had not been hurt. He had been sad when he saw that Blaine’s curls had been shaved away on one side of his head. “We can try making out, baby but we need to be careful of my ribs and take this slow.”, he told him. He turned bright red when he thought of something though. “Um Blaine if we get into making out, I might get hard. I won’t mean anything by it but most the time making out leads to more for us so my body may remember that. If you are okay with that then I would love to make out with you.”, he explained. He didn’t want to freak out his fiancee.

Blaine was incredibly thankful for the fact that Sheamus wasn’t questioning his motives or logical reason behind suddenly wanting to make out with somebody that he barely even knew, because in all honesty, he wasn’t exactly sure that those would really hold up if looked at with even a modicum of scrutiny. It was partly because he wanted to encourage the bond between them to grow back in one way or another - either by possibly jogging his memory, or by learning to love this guy all over again if he couldn’t - whether or not he should be forcing things so much. It was also partly because he felt for Sheamus and on some level he still cared, so he wanted to offer him some sort of comfort and reassurance. Then there was another part of him that saw that Sheamus was really hot and just… wanted to kiss him. And yet another one that was just tired of being so confused and thinking so hard about what he didn’t know. He just wanted to feel good things for a while.

He blushed at that, but nodded. “I can handle that” he promised, leaning in and pressing the softest, most chaste kiss imaginable on the other’s lips. His idea of making out wasn’t the same as it once was.

Shay watched Blaine’s face searching for signs that his man wasn’t overwhelmed by anything as they leaned in to kiss. He allowed Blaine to take the lead. He was mildly surprised that he kissed him so chastely and sweet. He thought back to their first kiss which was very similar to this one. Shay’s hand cupped Ted’s cheek in his palm as they kissed each  us other softly. After they broke apart for a few moments he smiled down at him. “Baby, would you like to kiss a little deeper next time?”, he asked not wanting to pressure Blaine either.

Shay went to the connecting bathroom and washed the plug in the sink with their toy soap. Once it was completely clean he brought it back to his lover. He grabbed their bottle of lube out of the drawer in the bedside table. He sat next to him and grinned. “God baby you are hot as hell like that.”, he whispered. He spread lube on his index and middle fingers. He swirled them around his hole and pushed them in. “I want to make sure you are open enough for the plug.”, he told him as he found his prostate and stroked it softly. “Feel good?”, he asked.
