i've spoken about this extensively in some mutuals' DMs but I really do think that a lot of the qualities that career tributes are screened for are important and useful in healthcare. many fields in medicine, especially the more intensive ones like emergency medicine, require the physical strength, rigorous training, and mental discipline they get from preparing for the games as well as the decision making skills, leadership, and teamwork capabilities seen in the career pack dynamic. these are what (presumably) make great career tributes/what is being sought after in volunteers for the games. these are the talents needed in the medical field. even if the careers aren't necessarily the best people (which really reflects their circumstances and is a much more complex issue), that doesn't prevent them from succeeding in health and being incredible, safe and efficient providers.

cato is a great fit for being a paramedic for reasons other than the fact of his obvious physical strength. he's obviously very driven when it comes to what he wants to achieve, can easily handle gory situations/experiences, and enjoys taking charge in a team and setting goals. his aggression could definitely be redirected in a positive way that helps people because it would motivate him to respond as quickly and effectively as possible to a distress call. his canon reaction to the supplies being blown up is not a great sign but I think that was just him being reactive to stressful circumstances and having a lack of emotional maturity which is standard for his age. he would definitely grow out of it (especially with the extensive training that is required to become a paramedic) and learn how to be flexible/emotionally regulated/think on his feet.

i know clove would thrive in a fast-paced hospital environment and bring her competitive attitude to delivering excellent care. she would be able to keep an eye on patients' vital signs with the keen attention to detail and precision that we already know she has from her knife-throwing training. this is the complete opposite of the "mean girl to nurse pipeline" stereotype, because clove is too competitive and takes too much pride in her accuracy and skill to ever neglect a patient or jeopardise their care. she might not be the gentlest, kindest character in the world, but it is important to her that she does her job so well that she's considered the best at what she does.

tldr clove and cato should be employees at the pitt and I would love if they were a part of my ER healthcare team. I say this completely unironically that we need more people like them
