From his book âOn Killing: The Psychological Cost of Learning to Kill in War and Societyâ
From LTC (RET) Dave Grossman: âHow many kids have been killed by school fire in all of North America in the past 50 years? Kids killed⊠school fire⊠North America⊠50 years⊠How many? Zero. Thatâs right. Not one single kid has been killed by school fire anywhere in North America in the past half a century. Now, how many kids have been killed by school violence?â Standing on the stage of a high school auditorium, Grossman walked to the side nearest a wall as he addressed the crowd. âLook up at the ceiling! See all those sprinklers up there? Theyâre hard to spot â theyâre painted black â but theyâre there. While youâre looking, look at the material the ceiling is made of. You know that that stuff was selected because itâs fire-retardant. Now look over there above the door â you see that fire exit sign? Thatâs not just any fire exit sign â thatâs a âbattery-backup-when-the-world-ends-it-will-still-be-litâ fire exit sign. He walked to the other side, nearby a fire exit and exterior wall, Grossman slammed the palm of his hand against the wall and exclaimed, âLook at these wall boards! They were chosen because theyâre what, fireproof or fire retardant? There is not one stinking thing in this room that will burn!â Pointing around the room as he spoke, Grossman continued, âBut youâve still got those fire sprinklers, those fire exit signs, fire hydrants outside, and fire trucks nearby! Are these fire guys crazy? Are these fire guys paranoid? No! This fire guy is our A+ student! Because this fire guy has redundant, overlapping layers of protection, not a single kid has been killed by school fire in the last 50 years!â âBut you try to prepare for violence â the thing much more likely to kill our kids in schools, the thing hundreds of times more likely to kill our kids in schools, and people think youâre paranoid. They think youâre crazy. Theyâre in denial.â I want you to stop for a moment and think about how much fucking money is spent on ways to put fires out and stop them from spreading. How much time is spent on training what to do if a fire burns and spreads? Now how much money and time is spent on stopping violence? Very little because it makes YOU UNCOMFORTABLE. The idea of trained staff and security with firearms in your childrenâs schools shocks you. Well⊠reality check. The image of your child in a casket due to a murderer in school with a gun will be infinitely more shocking I guarantee you. Passing laws restricting firearms would have the same effect as passing laws against fire. If changes in firearm laws are your answer as to how we can save childrenâs lives, you are naive, uninformed about human conflict, and frankly have nothing better to fucking offer. You are grasping at straws in the darkness of ignorance. I do not hold it against you. Anyone asked to solve a problem they are not equipped to solve will make an effort to do so if they believe it to be necessary. ACCEPT that evil walks the earth and you or your children may one day see it. LEARN about how the human reacts in moments of danger and peril. DEVELOP SKILLS to stay alive whatever they may be. SHARE the mindset, knowledge and skills with your children and loved ones. WATER puts out FIRE. GUNS stop GUNS. You all keep pissing in the wind and wringing your hands. - Lt Col David Grossman

RIP Sir
Good work marine. Time to rest now.
R.I.P.
Rest In Peace General
This guy was a badass! Check out his career!
Peterson enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June 1950 as a seaman apprentice and served as an electronics technician. When Petersen aced the Navyâs entrance exam, the recruiter told him he would make a âgreat steward.â[8] However, being motivated by the recent Korean War combat death of the Navyâs first black aviator Jesse L. Brown in December, Petersen vowed to be a combat pilot.
In 1951, he entered the Naval Aviation Cadet Program. In October 1952, he completed flight training and accepted a commission as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps. Petersen served a combat tour in the Korean War (1953) and in the Vietnam War (1968). His first tactical assignment was with Marine Fighter Squadron 212 during the Korean War. He would fly over 350 combat missions, and had over 4,000 hours in various fighter/attack aircraft. He held command positions at all levels of Marine Corps aviation, commanding a Marine Fighter Squadron, a Marine Aircraft Group and a Marine Aircraft Wing. He was also the first African-American to command a fighter squadron, a fighter air group, an air wing and a major base.[1]
On February 23, 1979,[9] he was promoted to brigadier general, becoming the first African-American general in the Marine Corps. In May 1983, he advanced to the rank of major general and on 12 June 1986, he was promoted to lieutenant general. Petersen relinquished duties as the Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Quantico, Virginia on July 8, 1988. He served as the Special Assistant to the Chief of Staff from July 8â31 and retired from the Marine Corps on August 1, 1988. Upon his retirement, he was presented the Distinguished Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious service as the Commanding General, Marine Corps Combat Development Command, Quantico, Virginia, from June 1986 to July 1988.
On November 9, 2016, Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus officially announced that an Arleigh Burke-class destroyer would be named in honor of Petersen.[10] On Feb 21, 2017, the keel was laid for the future guided-missile destroyer USS Frank E. Petersen Jr. (DDG 121) at Huntington Ingalls Industries shipyard, Pascagoula, Mississippi.
The Navy said that DDG 121 âwill be built in the Flight IIA configuration with the Aegis Baseline 9 Combat System which includes integrated air and missile defense capability. This system delivers quick reaction time, high firepower, and increased electronic countermeasures capability for anti-air warfare.â
They donât name Naval ships after just anybody.
RIP Sir!

Oh my heart
WTF. If you place your 2 shots correctly there is no need to waste all that ammo.
With the rise in drug use, two rounds center mass may not stop a threat. You can live without your heart for 13 seconds. Thatâs enough time to put someone in a world of hurt.
I know, Goes back to my LEO training, â2 center mass, re-evaluate your target, 2 center mass, re-evaluateâŠthen empty your fucking mag.â Exact quote from the firearms trainer.
I never understood the âMozambique drillâ for most run of the mill EDC-ers.
A human head is what? 5" wide, 10-13" tall? Add in the human stress level, a moving target. Makes a Recipe for disaster. Unless your John Wick, Jack Bauer, or Travis Haley. Stick to turning his heart and lungs into Swiss cheese.
Iâd rather do 3-5 rounds stacked on his/her breastplate; rather than two rounds and a miss going for his brain.
Not really lookinâ for it eitherâŠ
