Finally the short animation video for my animation project is finally complete! This is my second time ever animating anything, so I’m pretty pleased by the results. The project itself was simply to create an animation approximately 90 seconds long. My class gave me an obstruction which was to “use a specific color palette to color your animation.”

Frames Drawn: 1135 (had some rendering issues and playback desyncs)

FPS: 10

This video is kind of a take on my experiences with my gender identity and how it’s been for me. It’s been rad to do this!!

☠ Day 1 | Sunday, January 6th | Intro

☠ The Plague Doctor ☠

Dark leather boots crunch softly against the ground covered with leaves and decaying grass blades. A leather gloved hand holds a black-bladed hunting knife in one, and the other swirls a flask filled with a bright green liquid that sizzles and bubbles with an chemical rage.

The door to an abandoned shack opens as the sounds of desperate pleading of “stop” echoes through the old home, followed by a crazed rumbling cackle. The plague doctor stops before the door, popping the top of the flask and letting the survival knife sit in the concoction. A few moments later, the masked being tosses the flask in as a green gas escapes from the mouth of the flask, and a leather glove grabs hold of the door knob and holds it shut.

Confusion and fear echoes from the room behind the door, as the door begins to excessively shake with a demand to be opened. The coughing begins, shortly followed by a loud ‘thump’. The plague doctor opens the door, and lays their eyes upon two naked bodies. The plague doctor kicks the naked man at the door, and grumbles “enjoy hell, plague rat” under their breath.

They pull their bag from their side, as they begin their work - carving open the fresh cadaver and setting organs inside the bag as the room wafts with a green otherworldly glow. The plague doctor stops when they hear a pathetic wheeze and sob from the nude woman laying on the floor. The plague doctor stands, and approaches the body. The woman croaks a “please...” before the woman’s eyes fall.

The woman awakes that morning - dressed, alive, and sore. The body of her assaulter lays empty and unrecognizable at her side. She scatters, leaving the cursed and traumatic abandoned shack behind her as a bright green glint watches her from beyond the trees.

The woman makes it home.
