My first piece for @elementkitsune‘s Highwayman AU fic By the Moonlight

Keith’s fingers start to unravel his hair, combing through for the knots in them, and Shiro tells him about all the interesting things that have happened since last month’s visit. How the Galra seem to be teetering between giving up on finding their deserters or redoubling their pursuits. How Sam and Colleen and Matt and Katie Holt had welcomed Shiro into their home once again, with open arms and wide smiles.

And Shiro’s not exactly a professional storyteller, but neither is Keith. So he lets the words wash over him and pour into his ears, until the precious few that there are have all dried up. When done with his tales, Shiro looks up at him with soft, dark eyes, like looking at the night sky through mist, or the moon only half-shrouded by clouds.

“Your turn,” he murmurs, and instead of talking about the stream of travellers in and out of the inn (though more like a trickle, really; not a lot of people come around here), or the uncommon stories about Keith’s childhood, or the even rare stories about Dad and Krolia, Keith untangles his fingers from his hair and looks.

I’ve always loved the poem this story is based off of, so when I heard that someone wanted to write a fic for it, I was over the moon! Element is such a great writer and the way she writes characterization is so good! Please go check out her story, you won’t regret it (mind the tags though)!!

For this post, I’m going to do something a little different. Usually I give a little description about the fic; the warnings, the fandom, the characters, the summary and stuff. Here: Voltron, Sheith, you’re going to see a lot of Shiro and Keith because of that, slow burn, cyborg!Shiro and survivalist!Keith, panic attacks, minor violence. Written for the @sheithreversebang. There. 

Anyway. I’d like to thank Exy @impendingexodus​ and Nova @novamode​ for being the amazing people they are. They are two kind and hardworking individuals with bundles of talent, and I am a little gremlin with lots of love in my heart for the both of them. 

I’m going on hiatus until September, when I’ll post my thing for the Allura reverse bang that’s in the works, and then that’ll be the last thing I post for Voltron ever, I think. I think I will come back with other fandoms and probably some original works, but you know, that’s kind of still a maybe. 

Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed this story we all cooked up for you. It’s been an absolute pleasure making it.

Things are starting to get a little heavy here:

The machine roared in anger. Keith was seized by a fit of coughing that froze him in place and squeezed his throat. Damn the smoke upstairs. He was sweating down here, even though the fire was still contained to all the floors above them.

Keith couldn’t block as the machine swung a fist into his head. It was a sweet retribution, perhaps. As he fell, he heard Shiro scream “Kei—“

Then he heard no more.

It’s 1588, Queen Elizabeth’s England. The Spanish are assembling a naval force of the likes never seen in living memory and at the house of Her Majesty’s keepers‘of the Gate tween the earhtly and unearthly realms, Shiro disappears. 

Keith will do whatever it takes to finds him again,even if it means traversing the other realm and falling from human. 

I’m very excited to see myself what’s come out of a possibly tricky Reverse bang prompt. Thank you to Elly for stepping up to the task of it. It’s been fun sharing this story world with you  and I wish you all the best of the luck for chapters to come.
