Protesters have camped for months at Tennessee’s Capitol. So lawmakers made it a felony.

“This is all about criminalizing peaceful protesting,” said Justin Jones, an organizer of the protesters who have camped at the state capito

It’s important to point out that protesting generally hasn’t been made a felony, but rather the camping that the protestors are doing (and the legislation also includes other things to discourage protesting).

This is still really bad though, because the right to peaceful protest is protected in the Constitution, and even if protesting isn’t outlawed outright the government is still criminalizing an act of peaceful protest just because it’s a protest.

Furthermore:

According to tn.gov felons in Tennessee lose their right to vote. This is called Felony Disenfranchisement

So this means that the Tennessee government just passed legislation that would render the protestors unable to vote.

Pokémon, through the lense of real-world Evolutionary Science

(Or: Why Ditto possibly predates Mew, and some Cursed Thoughts about pokéworld humans)

So. What do we know: Some of Mew’s DNA was found to contain the genetic code of every other known pokémon, leading scientists to believe it was the common ancestor of all pokémon. Ditto was a byproduct of attempts to recreate the primordial Mew from its DNA that got branded a failure, and also contains the DNA of other pokémon which allows it to transform.

Arceus created the world, and the Creation and Lake Trios, so it’s safe to assume none of those are descended from Mew, and that instead Arceus created another pokémon as a starting point. Nothing dictates that this has to have been Mew though.
