Friendly reminder after a frustrating Sunday in RMNP a few weeks ago: DRONES ARE ILLEGAL IN NATIONAL PARKS. I didn't hike all the way up here to listen to your stupid drone. What ever happened to enjoying the wilderness? Why do we have to consume it with Instagram posts and drone videos? Why not just hike up here and sit in the rare winter sun and enjoy the view? SMOKING WEED IS ILLEGAL IN NATIONAL PARKS. Now I realize we live in Colorado, but National Parks are protected under federal laws, and since weed is still federally illegal leave your horrible smelling stash in the car. Also please consider the people around you. You really aren't the only person on the planet. Stop acting like it.
A revengeful God has given ear to the prayers of this multitude. Daguerre was his Messiah. And now the faithful says to himself "Since photography gives us every guarantee of exactitude that we could desire (they really believe that, the mad fools!) then photography and Art are the same thing" From that moment, our squalid society rushed, Narcissus to a Man to gaze at its trivial image on a scrap of metal.
- Charles Baudelaire, writing shortly after the invention of photography in 1839. He obviously wasn't a fan of the medium. His vehemance against photograph is humorous now, but quite intense in his time.

Just because it's digital doesn't mean it's not handmade. Something I learned while spending hours moving around pixels to create this digital painting.

This project that I did as an assignment explores a wreck that I was in back in May. This project was the first time I had really thought about using photography as a means of exploring something that happened in my life - as a form of art therapy. It was interesting and painful to be forced to think about the trauma every time I shot an image, or sat down to work on the images. Two of the images are of myself, and the third is of my mother, who sustained a collarbone injury during the wreck and had two surguries.
