The war on Oromo

On 20 January 2017, Workinesh Degefa took the women's title at the Dubai Marathon. She finished the race in 2:22:36 to win the Gold medal.

After the race, spectators gave her the old and outlawed Abyssinian flag which is also the preferred flag by Ethnic Amharas, the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and worshiped by many Ethiopians almost with the same revere as the holy bible. Degefa refused to hold the flag and looked for the official and current Ethiopian flag, for which she faced a litany of assault and backlash as she refused to hold the old Abyssinian flag.

The Ultra right wing extremist site zehabesha.com called her refusal "a shameful act". Its followers said she is a "traitor, idiot and a disgrace" they reminded Workinesh how "the flag should deserve all the respect in the world next to God". Some called her "ungrateful" claiming "she owe her freedom to {their} forefathers who gave her the freedom fighting under the umbrella of the flag". Others used derogatory and racial slurs calling her "G***", a term which has similar connotation with the word Nigger in the west. One Zehabesha.com follower added "the G*** has legs to run but no head to think". Degefa is an Oromo Athlete who is running for Ethiopia. She has won several competitions. "On April 21, 2013, she won the Yangzhou Jianzhen half marathon in 1:08:43 h. In 2014, she won two semi-marathons - in mid-March the Lisbon half marathon in 1:08:46 h and on 17 May the Gothenburgsvarvet with 1:10:12 h. In 2015, she won first the Prag half marathon in 1:07:14 h in March and in May she repeated her success from the previous year at Göteborgsvarvet in 1:08:13 h"

on February 7 2017, another athlete Genzebe Dibaba broke the world 2000M record in Sabadell. Dibaba finished the race at 5:23.75, to break the 19 year old world record which was set by Gabriela Szabo in 1998. Dibaba, too, is an Oromo athlete who is running for Ethiopia. She is one of the Dibaba sisters - Athletics' royal family which includes Tirunesh Dibaba, and Ejegayehu Dibaba - all world class Oromo athletes.

After Dibaba broke the world record, spectators gave her the same kind of flag which they gave to Degefa. Dibaba refused to hold the flag and the backlash reactions were no different. The derogatory insults and furry followed.

All these vile assault against these world class Oromo athletes come with a background of yet another outright and degrading insult on the entire Oromo people which was broadcasted by the Ethiopian Satellite Television - ESAT, a Diaspora based Opposition media platform which claims to be "the Eyes and ears of all Ethiopians"

On 22 January 2007, this diaspora based media outlet broadcasted an episode titled "WHO ARE ETHIOPIANS’? by Prof. Haile Larebo". The one and half hour segment went on and on about the dominant interpretation of Ethiopian history through the perspective lens of the satellite television. The guest, a highly celebrated individual among the ultra right wing Ethiopian extremists for his berated attack and vulgar insult of the Oromo, tried to explain who the Oromo are, whom he said are "refugees, outsiders and shepherds" - to which the ESAT host nodded in agreement; and referred to the ethnic group as "G***", refusing to use the name Oromo.

The satellite station faced backlash for airing such derogatory remarks. As a result, it released a public relations damage control statement saying "the views expressed in the segment was not the station's". However, even for releasing such a PR damage control, the station's base supporters continued to demand ESAT apologize for the guest and widely defended the guest, whom they called "a hero, an intellectual with integrity and a smart person" - for insulting an entire group of people using racial slurs.

Yet again, all this propaganda and info war on the Oromo comes at a time when tens of thousands of Oromo have been massacred by the current regime for demanding their civil and human rights, which makes it even absolutely clear that in Ethiopia, there is an insidious, ugly and ruthless war - in broadcast and bullet, being waged to destroy the Oromo from right center and left.

የሚዲያ ዳሰሳ ሲዳሰስ

ታህሳስ 16/2008 ዓ.ም "ሚዲያ ዳሰሳ" የሚል ፕሮግራም EBC ላይ ሲተላለፍ ሁለት እንግዶች ተካፍለው ነበር። የዝግጅቱ ዋና ሃሳብ በኦሮሚያ ክልል እየተካሄደ ስላለው ሕዝባዊ እምቢተኝነት የመገናኛ ብዙሃን እና ማህበራዊ ድረ-ገፆች ሚና ምን እንደሚመስል “ለመተንተን” ነበር። በዝግጅቱ ታዳሚዎች “ትንታኔ” መሰረት ማህበራዊ ድረ-ገፅ ተጠቃሚዎች የተሳሳተ መረጃ እያቀረቡ ሕዝቡን ለአመፅ እያነሳሱ ነው።

አዘጋጁ:

“በቅርብ በፓሪስ በደረሰው ጥቃት የተሳሳቱ መረጃዎች ሲቀርቡ እንደነበር : ዩሮ ኒውስ ማህበራዊ ድረ-ገፆች እንዴት የተሳሳቱ ምስሎችን እየተጠቀሙ ሕዝቡን ሲያሳስቱ እንደነበር በአሜሪካ የሆነን ነገር በፈረንሳይ እንደሆነ አድረገው ሲያቀርቡ ነበር። በተለይ አሁን መቀመጫቸው ሰሜን አሜሪካ የሆኑ የማህበራዊ ድረገፅ አቀንቃኞች ምንድነው ሲያደርጉ የነበረው?

በሶሻል ሚዲያ ከቀረቡት ውስጥ የሐሰት መረጃዎች ጭምር ናቸው ሲቀርቡ የነበሩት ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ ያልሆነ ሆነ ተብሎ ወይ ደግሞ ከሶስት ከአራት ዓመት በፊት ወይ በሌላ ሁኔታ ላይ የነበረን ምስል አሁን የነበረ ምስል አድርጎ በማቅረብ ረገድ ጭምር የተለያዩ ተዋናዮች ይጠቀሙበት ነበር። ሶሻል ሚዲያው ላይ ከአስር ከአስራ አምስት ያላነሱ ፎቶግራፎች በዛ መልኩ ሲወጡ ተመልክተናል።”

ይልና ከሶሻል ሚድያ የተወሰዱ የተሳሳቱ ምስሎችን ያሳያል

“ሶሻል ሚድያ ይሄ ነው የሚባል ተጠያቂነት የለውም። እንደተለመደው ሚድያ ዋና አዘጋጅ የለውም። አንድ ጋዜጣ ቢያጠፋ ዋና አዘጋጁ በብሮድካስት አዋጁ መሰረት ይጠየቃል። በማህበራዊ ድረገፆች የሚወጣው ግን ተጠያቂነት የለውም። “

ሲል ያክላል።

ዝግጅቱ በመቀጠል ወደ ስነ-ምግባር ዲስኩር ይተላለፍ እና ሶሻልሚዲያ ተጠቃሚዎች ኃላፊነት እንዲሰማቸው: ትክክለኛ መረጃ ብቻ እንዲያስተላልፉ እና ከዛም አልፈው ከተገኙ በሕግ ተጠያቂ እንዲሆኑ ይመክራል።

አንደኛው ተጋባዥ እንግዳ በተለይ

“ከኃላፊነት በስተቀር ተጠያቂነትም መስፈን አለበት ብዬ አምናለሁ።በነገራችን ላይ ውጭ ሀገር ብቻ ያሉ አይደሉም። ሀገር ውስጥም ሆነው የተሳሳተ ስም ተጠቅመው ብቻም አይደለም በራሳቸው ስምም ይሄንን አጀንዳ ውጭ ያሉ አካላት በሚሰብኩት ልክ አዲስ አበባ ቁጭ ብለው የሚሰብኩ አካላት ነበሩ። በስማቸው። በራሳቸው የፕሮፋይል ፎቶ። በራሳቸው የፕሮፋይል ስም የሚጠቀሙ አሉ ።አንዳንዴ ምንም አይመጣም በሚል ስሜትም ጭምር ነው። ይሄ ነገር ብዙ ዋጋ ካስከፈለ በህዋላ አይደለም እነዚህ ሰዎች ተጠያቂ መሆን ያለባቸው። ፈረንሳይ ሀገር ላይክ አድርጋችዋል ተብለው የታሰሩ ሰዎች ነበሩ። ስለዚህ ተጠያቂነትም ያስፈልጋል።”

በማለት ፌስ-ቡክ ስታተስ “ላይክ” ያሚያደርጉ እየታደኑ እንዲታሰሩ መንግስትን ሲማፀን ይስተዋላል።

ባጭሩ የዝግጅቱ መልክት እና ድምዳሜ በፌስ-ቡክ የተሳሳተ መረጃ ማሰራጨት ወንጀል ነው። ይህንን መረጃ ላይክ እና ሼር የሚያደርግ ደግሞ እየታደነ መታሰር አለበት የሚል ነው።

ተጠያቂነትያለበት እና በአቶ ጌታቸው ረዳ በየደረጃው የተዋቀረው የመንግስት ኮሙዩኒኬሽን ጉዳዮች ጽ/ቤትን ማህበራዊ ድረ-ገፅ በዚሁ የስነ-ምግባር መለኪያ መሰረት ካየነው ፅፈት ቤቱ እና በበላይነት የሚመሩት አቶ ጌታቸው ረዳ የተሳሳተ መረጃ በማስተላለፍ ወንጀል መጠየቅ ይኖርባቸዋል። ፅፈት ቤቱ ፌስቡክ ላይ ያለ መረጃን ላይክ የሚያደርጉ ሰዎችም እየታደኑ መታሰር ይኖርባቸዋል።

ፅፈት ቤቱ በተደጋጋሚ የምያጋራቸው መረጃዎች የተሳሳተ ምስል እና ዜናን ነው የሚያቀርቡት። በቅርቡ ስለተከሰቱ ግጭች ብቻ ሳይሆን በመደበኛ የ “ልማት” ዘናዎቹም ጭምር።

ለምሳሌ በኦሮሚያ ክልል የተከሰተውን ግጭት አስመልክቶ December 28, 2015 ላይ ባሰራጨው የተሳሳተ መረጃ ይህንን ምስል ተጠቅሞ ነበር

ምስሉ የተወሰደው “Ambo Kegna! Ethiopia” በሚል ርዕስ May 6, 2014 ዩ ትዩብ ላይ ከተለጠፈ ከዚህ ቪዲዮ ነው። እዚህ ድረገፅ ላይ ደግሞ ያለምንም ገለፃ እና ምስሉ ከየት እና ማን እንደ ወሰደው ሳይጠቀስ በተመሳሳይ ቀን ተለጥፎ ነበር። የመንግስት ኮሙዩኒኬሽን ጉዳዮች ጽ/ቤት ግን ክስተቱ አምቦ ውስጥ ታህሳስ 18/2008/ኢ.ዜ.አ እንደተፈፀመ አድርጎ ኃላፊነት እና ተጠያቂነት በጎደለው መልኩ የሶሻል ሚድያ ተጠቃሚዎችን የማሳሳት ወንጀል ሲሰራ ነበር።

ሰሜን ጎንደር ላይ እየተከሰተ ስላለው ግጭትም

"በሰሜን ጎንደር ግጭት በተፈጠረባቸው አካባቢዎች ዘላቂ ሰላምና መረጋጋት እንዲሰፍን የተጣለባቸውን እርቀ ሰላም የማውረድ ኃላፊነት በአግባቡ እየተወጡ መሆኑን የሀገር ሽማግሌዎችና የሃይማኖት አባቶች አስታወቁ፡፡"

የሚል ዜና December 28, 2015 ላይ ከዚህ ፎቶ ጋር አያይዞ አቅርቦ ነበር።

የሃይማኖት አባቶቹ ጎንደር ላይ ታህሳስ 17/2008 /ኢ.ዜ.አ ሲወያዩ እንደነበር ነበር መረጃው የሚያመለክተው።

ነገር ግን ፎቶው የተወሰደው ገናዬ አሸቱ በሚባል የ MSH ሰራተኛ JANUARY 30, 2014 አም ላይ ነው። የሃይማኖት አባቶቹ ሲወያዩ የነበሩትም የሃይማኖት አባቶች የኤድስ በሽተኞች መድኃኒታቸውን በአግባቡ መውሰድ እንዲችሉ በምን አይነት መልኩ ማገዝ እንደሚችሉ ነበር እንጂ ስለ "ሰሜን ጎንደር ግጭት በተፈጠረባቸው አካባቢዎች ዘላቂ ሰላምና መረጋጋት" አልነበረም።

የመንግስት ኮሙዩኒኬሽን ጉዳዮች ጽ/ቤትን የሚያክል ግዙፍ ድርጅት ስለፎቶው ምንም አይነት ገለፃ ሳይሰጥ የገዛ ንብረቱ እንደሆነ በማስመሰል ያለፎቶ አንሽው ፍቃድ ህዝብን የሚያሳስት መረጃ ለማስተላልፍ ተጠቅሞበታል። ይህ ደግሞ ህዝብን የማሳሳት ወንጀል ብቻ ሳይሆን የ አዕምሯዊ ንብረትን የመስረቅ ወንጀልም ጭምር ነው።

ስለ ሰሞንኛ ግጭቶች ብቻ ሳይሆን በመደበኛ የልማት ዜናዎቹ ሳይቀር ህዝብን የሚያሳስቱ መረጃዎች በ መንግስት ኮሙዩኒኬሽን ጉዳዮች ጽ/ቤት የማህበራዊ ድረ-ገፆች ይሰራጫሉ።

ለምሳሌ ያህል ፅፈት ቤቱ

"የውሃ መሰረተ ልማት ትስስርን በዘመናዊ መንገድ ለማስተዳደር በደብረ ታቦር ከተማ የተጀመረው ስራ በሌሎች አካባቢዎች ሊስፋፋ እንደሚገባ የኢትዮጵያ ውሃና ፍሳሽ ማህበር አስታወቀ፡፡"

የሚል ዜና December 29, 2015 ላይ ለጥፎ ነበር።

የተጠቀመው ምስል የሚከተለውን ነበር

ምስሉ የተወሰደው ንጀር ውስጥ እንጂ ኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ አልነበረም። ዋናው ምስል እዚህ ላይ ይገኛል "Drilling down to the water table means a pump can be installed in the village in Niger.

December 28, 2015 ላይ

"በደቡብ አቸፈር ወረዳ አርሶ አደር ክንድይሁን ጸጋና ባለቤታቸው ወይዘሮ ያለምስራ አበረ፣ ህጻን ልጃቸውን በልደት ለማስመዝገብ በስፍራው መገኘታቸውን ገልጸዋል።"

የሚል ዜና ከዚህ ፎቶ ጋር አያይዞ ለጥፎ ነበር

ፎቶው የተወሰደው አክሊሉ ካሳየ በሚባል የወርልድ ቪሽን ሰራተኛ 2012 ላይ ሲሆን ፎቶው ላይ ያሉት ሰዎች "Kassahun Kebede and his wife" ተብለው ተገልፀዋል። መንግስት ኮሙዩኒኬሽን ጉዳዮች ጽ/ቤት ፎቶው ከተነሳ ከሶስት ዓመት በህዋላ ካሳሁን ከበደን ክንድይሁን ፀጋ ብሎታል እንግዲህ። ፎቶውንም ያለምንም ክረዲት በመጠቀም ህዝብን የማሳሳት ወንጀል ሲፈፅም ነበር።

መንግስት ለህብረተሰቡ የተሳሳተ መረጃ መስጠት የለት ተለት ስራው እንደሆነ ለማንም ግልፅ ነው። ማህበራዊ ድረገፆች ላይ የተሳሳተ መረጃ የለጠፈና ላይክ ያደረገ ይታሰር ከተባለ ግን ማሰሩ ከመንግስት ኮሙዩኒኬሽን ጉዳዮች ጽ/ቤት ቢጀመር መልካም ነው።

Starving peasants disgust TPLF

“We were being fed by the peasants with lavish food, if I can call it that. We used to get yoghourt, milk, meat, all this food. If they gave us food, we would have enough to eat. If they didn’t, we would go hungry. We had to learn to love our people, our peasantry, and to respect them—it is not difficult to respect somebody who has full control over your very existence.” - Meles Zenawi on TPLF’s relationship with peasants during his guerrilla years before the 1984/5 famine.

Fast forward 30 years. TPLF is still in power and Meles Zenawi is dead. The organization he masterminded (TPLF) is the one that essentially rules the country and Ethiopia is now facing severe drought and famine.

The United Nations estimates more than 15 million Ethiopians will need emergency food aid by the beginning of 2016. The UN also states 53,400 people have been displaced as a result of the drought between July-October and the World Food Program plans to provide supplemental feeding for 164,000 malnourished Ethiopians. Since the government suppressed reports on mortality, there are no official reports on the number of individuals who died so far. However, one BBC report, quoting the UN, indicates 2 babies have been dying every day in one area.

In the same BBC report, a mother named Birtukan was interviewed. She told the reporter her son had died of hunger. “Everyone is suffering”, she added. The government dismissed BBC’s report as sensationalism. It insisted “No one has died or displaced due to lack of food in the areas affected by the drought”.

State media later tracked down Birtukan and the other individuals that the BBC interviewed. Birtukan and the other interviewees recanted their story on National Television. Their new story was reported using pictures of a lake and harvest ready crop as a backdrop to the video. It seems as if the government was denying the ongoing drought as well. Not just famine.

This was a shameful and obvious propaganda stunt. As Ethiopia’s previous dictator regimes did, the current regime is busy trying to cover up the extent of the ongoing humanitarian crisis. It has been preoccupied with the ‘Ethiopia rising” narrative for so many years that it does not want this narrative to become “Ethiopia falling”

But then, how can a government (read TPLF) that was so in love with the peasantry since its inception, a government that used the peasantry as a womb for its birth, a government that survived its very challenging and trying times on the back of the peasants (paraphrasing Meles) now become so callously indifferent to the suffering of peasants who are facing famine and death?

I think the answer to this is in Meles Zenawi’s words. He said:

“We had to learn to love our people, our peasantry, and to respect them—it is not difficult to respect somebody who has full control over your very existence”

At this point in time, the peasants do not have control over TPLF’s very existence. Thus, TPLF does not simply need to respect or love the Peasants. Its multi billion dollar company, The Endowment Fund For The Rehabilitation of Tigrai (EFFORT), grips every aspect of the country’s economy. The then guerrilla fighters, except the dead ones like Meles, are now upper class super rich Ethiopians. They’re the new bourgeois. Sadly, for these people, hungry peasants who cry for food or their dead children are lower class, poor and disgusting. Love and respect for such peasants is the last thing that would cross their mind. To the contrary, peasants who have nothing to eat let alone something to give, peasants who cry for their dead children (as Birtukan did), peasants who have malnourished, starving or dead children; such peasants disgust TPLF.

Empathy plays a huge role to motivate people’s moral behavior. It helps people become compassionate towards others and “feel” the pain and suffering of others. Disgust makes people indifferent towards the suffering of others and it’s the complete opposite of empathy. The total lack of compassion that the government showed Birtukan, its constant denial and indifference towards the peasants who are dying of hunger is a direct result of the way how starving peasants disgust TPLF.

The “Ethiopia rising” meme

We have been sold this “Ethiopia rising” meme for years now. The Ethiopian government keeps projecting this narrative 24/7. State media have been preoccupied with plastering images of construction projects and GDP rates on the minds of citizens; and Global “Experts on Africa” have added the “Ethiopia rising” meme to their already existing “Africa rising” meme as well.

The “Ethiopia rising” meme has become pernicious in part because it is half-truth. Construction projects are indeed visibly “booming”. We can at least see the Addis Ababa light rail with our own eyes. Sophisticated international economists tell us the latest GDP figures as well. Local, Bole resident, developmental government minions and cadres echo these GDP figures too; along with their fellow traveler, foreign born drive by reporters who are mostly based in Addis Ababa who go out on field missions on few occasions and believe new buildings and a new light rail in Addis Ababa is the same as development of an entire country of 94 million people.

For such people, their echo chamber is filled with the “Ethiopia rising” noise. As a result, “Ethiopia rising” is the answer to everything. They have been so primed with this meme that they might even answer the question “What is 1 + 1?” with “Ethiopia rising”. Ask them if bricks can be bread or if starving children can eat a train and they will have no answer. (Or maybe they’ll just answer you with “Ethiopia rising”)

Skeptics of this “Ethiopia rising” meme have always been unwilling to buy into this narrative and refuse to equate Ethiopia’s GDP growth with development. Despite the “Ethiopia rising” meme, the country remains a place where 30.7% of the population live on less than 1.25$/day ; 88 children out of 1000 live births die every year before they reach the age of 5; 67% of all deaths of children aged under 5 years take place before a child’s first birthday; a total of 34.6% of children are born underweight, while 50.7% are stunted; and Ethiopia is a country which has one of the world’s highest maternal mortality ratios (675 maternal deaths/100 000 live births)

In addition, Ethiopia is now facing yet another severe drought and looming famine catastrophe ; the worst it has seen in 30 years and estimated 15 million people will likely need food assistance in 2016. UNICEF figures indicate a 27% increase in the number of children treated for Severe Acute Malnutrition already; 197 woredas had measles outbreaks; 14,300 suspected and 11,700 confirmed measles cases so far. Once again, the international community has started its never ending task of feeding hungry Ethiopians who are failed by their own government; yet another evidence for why the “Ethiopia rising” meme remains half-truth, if not a complete lie.

The extent of lives lost due to the ongoing drought is an unknown know reality for the moment. The government has suppressed report on mortality rates. Although public health information is incomplete without such vital statistics, UNICEF’s situations reports on the current humanitarian crisis bear no mortality rates. Even zero deaths should be reported in well-respected information sources such as the UNICEF. But that’s not the case here. UNICEF seems to have adopted a position that says “If the government says there are no children who died of starvation, then there are not children who died of starvation”. Yet, one BBC report states “The United Nations say two babies are dying of starvation every day in one area”. However, the government insists “No one has died or displaced due to lack of food in the areas affected by the drought”.

Without vital information such as mortality rates from independent sources, given the extent of Ethiopia’s previous famine disasters, previous and current governments’ denial and cover up on the extent of such disasters, and in spite of the “Ethiopia rising” meme, it’s hard to tell how bad the situation is. It might even be comparable with the 1984 famine.

A nation in denial?

On April 19, the Islamic State released a video that showed fighters from its branches in southern and eastern Libya, executing dozens of Ethiopian Christians, some by beheading and others by shooting. The reactions, among Ethiopians, to this tragic news were mixed. Government almost blamed the victims. It stated “opportunity for life improvement is expanding in Ethiopia” and cautioned “youth against illegal flight where no state provision of protection exist”. So many other begged to differ and fairly put the blame on the government itself. The fact that many of the slaughtered individuals came from the impoverished slum of Addis Ababa (Cherkos) was a no brainier for everyone (except for the government and it’s ardent supporters) to establish the link between poverty and migration out of Ethiopia in droves; leading to their tragic death. Despite the government's "booming economy and development" narrative, the fact remains Ethiopia’s growth is the growth of a few.

“Bole economics” does not seem to work for Cherkos residents; hence their desperate attempt to leave the place and find a better opportunity somewhere else. This is clearly evidenced by a statement given by “Meshesa Mitiku, a longtime friend of one of the victims who said "There is no job opportunity here. I will try my luck too, but not through Libya. I want to move out. There is no chance to improve yourself here. This is the whole community's opinion."

Apart from these mixed reactions, one perspective seemed to unite almost everyone; that the killings "had nothing to do with religion (Islam)". Almost everyone denounced the killing as a terrorist act. This denunciation was immediately followed by an assertion that “ISIS does not represent Islam and Muslims” and that “ ISIS is using religion as a cover to advance its own agenda”. Not a whole lot of people saw this tragedy as a brutal act committed by evil products of religion. “One nation under God” was the theme. "Not in my name” was the slogan; even after evils of religion hit closer to home. It sounded as if everyone was living in denial.

Out of an apparent worry about inter-faith conflicts, many touted how Christians and Muslims lived side by side in Ethiopia for long. The government even went out of its way and suggested that “ISIS is trying to divide Ethiopian Christians and Muslims”. Some highlighted how Muhammad told his followers to seek refuge in Ethiopia. Sheikas and Priests were pictured together and that was seen as a symbol for unity of Islam and Christianity.

The first notion; whether the barbaric acts of ISIS “have nothing to do with Islam” or not is an ongoing debate. Apologists for the religion hold a firm position that ISIS is a product of America’s war on terror and that it is using Religion as a cover to regain power. They state the fact that many of it’s top leaders and strategists were former Baath party members of Saddam Hussein and brush aside any link to its fundamentally religious nature. Other argue the Islamic state is indeed Islamic.

For these apologists who say “ISIS has nothing to do with Islam”, it does not matter whether the barbaric acts of ISIS can be substantiated by Quranic verses that anyone with an internet connection can find online; or the fact that ISIS itself admits to follow Islam and carries out specific penalty prescriptions for the unbelievers as they are clearly stated in the Qoran.

Yes, ISIS may not represent all Muslims. And true, the group may further a political agenda using religion as a cover. However, it’s barbaric acts have as much to do with religion as they have to do with power and politics. If it was not for the relationship between ISIS and Islam, what could possibly explain the flocking the flocking, by the 20,000s, of Muslims from across every corner of the globe to join the barbaric group? .

Whether they’re brainwashed by ISIS propaganda or not, these 20,000 young men and women sincerely believe that it is their duty to respond to the call for Jihad in the Caliphate, an act which is a religious duty described in the Qoran. Their behaviors and actions can be explained as the consequence of their beliefs and ideologies, which is Islam. Even if these barbaric acts of ISIS, as so many suggest, “have nothing to do with Islam” and that the group is “twisting and misusing the religion to further a political agenda”, what does it say about “the religion of peace” when it can easily be twisted and used to justify the barbaric slaughter of fellow human beings? Certainly, not a “religion of peace”.

To show how ISIS’s killing of Ethiopian Christians had nothing to do with religion, so many resorted to highlight the fact that one of the victims was a Muslim himself. They stated “ISIS does not care about religion” and that “ISIS slaughtered him along with the Christians while he tried to negotiate the release of his fellow countrymen”. This act of bravery was considered to show how ISIS does not follow Islam and that the group's brutal and barbaric acts "have nothing to do with Islam".

Those who use this as an evidence to show how ISIS has nothing to with Islam do not seem to grasp the fact that ISIS considered this brave young man as an “unbeliever”, someone who is with the “infidels”. ISIS’s killing of a Muslim, who tried to save Christians, says as much about the motives and ideologies of the killers as it says about his courage and bravery. It shows us that; from the perspective of religious fundamentalists like ISIS, “moderate Muslims” are considered as infidel as the unbelievers.

The second notion that was highlighted after the killings was how Ethiopian Muslims and Christians live in some sort of Utopia, where each group has nothing but love for one another. The fact that Ethiopian Muslims and Christians stood side by side to unanimously condemned such a barbaric act was commendable. However, the notion that Ethiopian Muslims and Christians live in such Utopia does not seem to hold water.

In 2010, Pew research conducted a public poll and published a report titled Tolerance and tension: Islam and Christianity in Sub-Saharan Africa. The report provides an insight on the religious adherence, attitudes, practices and relationships between adherents of the major religions in Sub-African countries, including Ethiopia. According to this report (among other findings), Ethiopian Muslims and Christians do not seem to know much about each other’s religions. Only 22% of Muslim respondents knew a great deal about Christianity; the figure was only 5% for Christian respondents on Islam; 42% of Christian respondents associated the term “violent” with Muslims while 23% of Muslim respondents associated the term with Christians. These are clear indicators of how divisive religion can be; contrary to the utopia we’ve been constantly told for few days now.

ኢትዮጵያ እና የሶስተኛ ክፍል ተማሪዎቿ

እንደ አውሮፓውያን አቆጣጠር አፕሪል 4-1968 አ.ም አሜሪካዊው የሰብአዊ መብት ተሟጋች ማርቲን ሉተር ኪንግ ተገደለ። ያን ወቅት አሜሪካን ሀገር ከፍተኛ የሆነ የሰብአዊ መብት ተሟጋቾች እንቅስቃሴ የታየበት ነበር። የማርቲን ሉተር ኪንግን መገደል ተከትሎም ብዙዎች ስለዘረኛነት የየራሳቸውን የተለያየ መላምት የሚሰጡበት ወቅት ነበር። ማርቲን ሉተር ኪንግ በተገደለ ማግስት ጄን ኤልየት የምትባትል የሶስተኛ ክፍል መምህር ከክፍል ተማሪዎቿ ጋር ያደረገችው የክፍል ሥራ ሙከራ አንዱ ነበር። አሁን ድረስም ስለዘረኛነት እና የዘረኛነት አስተሳሰብ ሲነሳ ብዙ ጊዜ ይሄ ሙከራ አብሮ ይነሳል።

ማርቲን ሉተር ኪንግ በተገደለ ማግስት ኤልየት ተማሪዎቿን ለማስተማር ወደ ክፍል ሄደች። ከተማሪዎቿም ውስጥ አንዱ ማርቲን ሉተር ኪንግ ለምን እንደተገደለ ሲጠይቃት በመላምት ከማስተማር ይልቅ ለሁሉም ልጆች በተግባር ልታስረዳቸው መረጠች።

ተማሪዎቿ በሙሉ ነጮች ነበሩ። "አሜሪካን ሀገር ጥቁሮች እንዴት እንደሚጨቆኑ ማወቅ ትፈልጋላችሁ?" ስትል ጠየቀች። ልጆቹም ተስማሙ። የክፍል ተማሪዎቿን ለሁለት ቡድን ከፈለች። የአይን ቀለማቸውን መሰረት በማድረግ።

በመጀመሪያው የሙከራ ክፍለጊዜ ሰማያዊ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸውን ተማሪዎች የበላይ አድርጋ ሾመቻቸው። የበላይነት ስሜት እንዲሰማቸውም አደረገች። ቡናማ ቀለም ያለው ክራቫት ሰማያዊ የአይን ቀለም ላላቸው ለጆች ሰጠቻቸው። ክራቫቱንም ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ባላቸው ሕፃናት ላይ እንዲያጠልቁ ስልጣን ሰጠቻቸው። ይህንን በማድረጋቸውም የበላይ መሆናቸውን እና ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት የበታች መሆናቸውን ተረዱ።

ሰማያዊ የአይን ቀለም ላላቸው ሕፃናት የተለያዩ ጥቅማጥቅሞችን አደለቻቸው። ምሳ ሰዓት ላይ ሰማያዊ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ልጆች ተጨማሪ የምሳ ሳህን እንዲወስዱ ተፈቀደላቸው። ወደ አዲስ የመጫወቻ ስፍራ ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ካላቸው ልጆች ተነጥለው የመሄድ መብት ነበራቸው። ተጨማሪ የአምስት ደቂቃ የእረፍት ጊዜ ነበራቸው። ሰማያዊ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት ከፊት የመቀመጥ ልዩ መብት ነበራቸው። ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት ከሁዋላ እንዲቀመጡ ተገደዱ።

ሰማያዊ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት ሌሎች ሰማያዊ የአይን ቀለም ካላቸው ሕፃናት ጋር ብቻ እንዲጫወቱ እና ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናትን እንዳይጠጉዋቸው ተነገራቸው። ሰማያዊ እና ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት ከአንድ ቧንቧ ውሃ እንዳይጠጡ ተከለከሉ። ሰማያዊ የአይን ቀለም ላላቸው ሕፃናት ብቻ ከተፈቀደው ቧንቧ ሲጠጡ የተገኙ ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት የጨዋታውን ሕግ ጥሳችሁዋል ተብለው ተገሰፁ። በሁለቱ የሕፃናት ግሩፕ መካከል ያለው ልዩነት በተደጋጋሚ ተነሳ። ስለ ልዩነታቸው ሲነሳ በዋናነት የሚቀርበው ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት ጉድለት ነበር።

በመጀመሪያ ወደ አናሳው ቡድን የተመደቡት ቡናማ የያይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት ሰማያዊ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት የተሻሉ መባላቸውን ተቃውመው ነበር። “ሜላኒን” የተባለ ኬሚካል በተፈጥሮ አይንን ሰማያዊ እንደሚያደርግ እና በተጨማሪም ጎበዝ እንደሚያደርግ ተነገራቸው። ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ልጆች ይህንን አመኑ። የመጀመሪያ ተቃውሞዋቸንም ተዉት።

የህንን ተከትሎም የበላይ ናችሁ የተባሉት ባለሰማያዊ ቀለም አይን ልጆች ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸውን ልጆች መስደብ ጀመሩ። የአለቃነት ስሜት ተፈጠረባቸው። አናሳ የተባሉት የቀድሞ ጉዋደኞቻቸው ላይም የጥላቻ ስሜት ማሳደር ጀመሩ። የፈተና ውጤቶቻቸውም በተለይ በሂሳብ እና ንባብ ከበፊቱ የተሻለ እየሆነ መጣ። በአናሳነት የተመደቡት ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት በተቀራኒው አንገታቸውን መድፋት ጀመሩ። የትምህርት ውጤታቸው እየቀነሰ መጣ። ራሳቸውን ማግለል ጀመሩ። በፊት ነቃ ነቃ ይሉ የነበሩ ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት ሳይቀሩ።

በመጨረሻው የሙከራ ክፍለጊዜ ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት የበላይ እንዲሆን ተደረገ። እነሱም በተራቸው ሰማያዊ ቀለም ያላቸውን ሕፃናት ማንቁዋሸሽ እና ከዚህ በፊት ሲደረጉ እንደነበረው ማድረግ ጀመሩ።

የትኛው ቡድን ሰማያዊ የአይን ቀለም እንዳለው የትኛው ቡድን ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም እንዳለው በውል ባይታወቅም የኢትዮጵያ የዘር ፖለቲካ ከነዚህ የሶስተኛ ክፍል ተማሪዎች ተሞክሮ ብዙም አይለይም።

በኢትዮጵያ ታሪክ ሰማያዊ ቀለም እንዳላቸው ሕፃናት የተለየ መብት እና ስልጣን የነበራቸው ቡድኖች ነበሩ። አሉ። እነዚህን ልዩ መብቶች በመነጠቃቸው የሚያለቅሱ የሶስተኛ ክፍል ተማሪዎች ነበሩ። አሉ።ህወሓት የትጥቅ ትግል ከመጀመሩ በፊት በአጠቃላይ ሊባል በሚችል መልኩ ኢትዮጵያ የአንድ ብሔር የበላይነት የነገሰባት ሶስተኛ ክፍል ነበረች። በዛች ክፍል ውስጥ አማርኛ መናገር እና በአማርኛ መፃፍ የበላይት ስሜት ይፈጥር ነበር። አሁንም ይፈጥራል። የሶስተኛ ክፍሉ የትምህርት ሂደት እና አካሄድ ወሳኞች ጥቂቶች ነበሩ። ሌሎች ብሔሮች ልክ ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም እንደነበራቸው ቡድኖች የበታችነት ስሜት እንዲኖራቸው ይደረግ ነበር። በአንፃሩ ደግሞ የአማርኛ ባህል ከፍ ከፍ ተደርጎ የሁሉም ማንነት መገለጫ ሆነ።

መምህር በሌለበት ሁኔታ የተጀመረው ይህ የሶስተኛ ክፍል ኢትዮጵያዊነት ሙከራ ወደ አመፅ አመራ። እንደ ቡናማ የአይን ቀለም ያላቸው ሕፃናት ተበድለናል ያሉ ትግሬዎች ራሳቸውን ህወሓት ብለው ጠሩ። ብረት ይዘው ሰማያዊ የአይን ቀለም እንዳላቸው ሕፃናት የተለየ መብት ያላቸውን አማራዎችን ገጠሙ። ለጊዜዉም ቢሆን አሸነፉና ስልጣን ያዙ። በተራቸው ሰማያዊ የአይን ቀለም እንዳላቸው ህፃናትም መሆን ጀመሩ።

ከዚህ በፊት ተጨቁነን ነበር ሲሉ እንደነበረው ሌሎችን መጨቆን ጀመሩ። የተለየ መብት ለራቸው ሰጡ። ሌሎችን መናቅ እና ማዋረድ ጀመሩ። ማሰር መግደል እና ማሳደድ ጀመሩ። ባንዲራ ቀይረው የድሮውን የኢትዮጵያዊነት ዘፈን በራሳቸው የኢትዮጵያዊነት ዘፈን ቀየሩት። የኢትዮጵያዊነት ቦላሌን በራሳቸው ልክ አሰፉት። ሙሉ ኢትዮጵያዊ ለመባልም እነሱ በራሳቸው ልክ ያሰፉትን ቦላሌ መልበስ ግድ እየሆነ መጣ። አይበቃኝም አለብስም ያለ በሊማሊሞ አቅዋርጥ ተባለ። ገዢውን መደብ ነፍጠኛ ሲሉ እንዳልኮነኑ የባሱ ነፍጠኞች ሆነው ቁጭ አሉ። መሬት ለአራሹ ብሎ ከተነሳው ቡድን እንዳልተወለዱ መሬት ለአፍራሹ ብለው መሬት መቀማት ጀመሩ። የቀድሞ ሥርዓቶችን በዘረኛነት ሲከሱ ከነበረው በላይ ዘረኛ ሆነው ተገኙ።

የጨቅዋኝነት መብቴን ተቀማሁ ያሉት ቡድኖችም መብታቸውን ለማስከበር የትጥቅ ትግል እየጀመሩ ነው። በዚህች ሶስተኛ ክፍል የሚደረገው ሽኩቻ አሁንም እንደቀጠለ ነው። አንዱ ሌላውን ዘረኛ ሲል ይከሳል። ኢትዮጵያ መቼ ወደ አራተኛ ክፍል እንደምትዘዋወር የታወቀ ነገር የለም። ከሴምስተር ሴሚስተር በነዚህ ሰነፍ እና በጥባጭ ልጆች የተነሳ አሁንም ድረስ ትምህርት እንደተጉዋተተ ነው።

መንጋ ኮካዎች

መንጋ ሲባል የነገሮች ስብስብ ወይንም ጥርቅም ተደርጎ ሊወሰድ ይችላል። ለምሳሌ የአንበጣ መንጋ አለ። የምስጥ : የዝንጀሮ : የወፍ ወይንም የሰው መንጋ አለ። በአጭሩ አንድ ቦታ ላይ ግርርርር ብሎ የሚግበሰበስ ነገር መንጋ ሊባል ይችላል። አንድ ቦታ ላይ ግርርር ብሎ ተግበስብሶ መሰብሰብ ሲባል ግን አይነቱ ብዙ ነው። ለምሳሌ አውቶብስ ወይንም ታክሲ ለመጠበቅ አንድ ቦታ ላይ የሚሰበሰብ የሰዎች መንጋ ፓርላማ ከሚሰበሰብ የፖለቲከኞች መንጋ በብዙ መልኩ ይለያል። ከዚህ ቀጥሎ እንግዲህ መንጋ ሲባል ታክሲ ለመያዝ የተሰበሰቡ የሰዎች ጥርቅምን ሳይሆን ግብስብስ ፖለቲከኞችን ወይንም ኮካ (ኮተታም ካድሬ)ዎችን የሚመለከት ይሆናል።

ግብስብስ መንጋ ኮካዎች ማለት ምንም አይነት የሆነ የግለሰብ ስብእና የሌላቸው ጥርቃሞዎች ማለት ናቸው። ምናልባትም እንደ ግለሰብ የራሳቸው የሆነ ይህ ነው የሚባል ማንነት ቢኖራቸው እንክዋን አብዛኛውን ጊዜያቸውን የመንጋው አካል በመሆን ስለሚያሳልፉ ያ የግለሰብ ስብናቸው እየደበዘዘ መጥቶ ከነጭራሹ የሚጠፋበት ጊዜ ብዙ ነው። ስለሆነም በግለሰብ ደረጃ ሊኖራቸው የሚችለው ማንኛውም አይነት የሞራል እሴት የመንጋው አካል ሲሆኑ ከነጭራሹ ይጠፋል። የመንጋው አካል ሲሆኑ ደግሞ ይህ ነው የሚሉት የራሳቸው አቅዋም ስለማይኖራቸውም መሪዎቻቸው እንደፈለጉ ያሽከረክሯቸዋል።

ግብስብስ መንጋ ኮካዎች ማለት የአንበጣ ወረርሽኝ አይነት ባህርይ አላቸው። ንፋስ በመራቸውና ለምለም ወደ መሰላቸው አቅጣጫ በገፍ ይነጉዳሉ። ዋና አላማቸውም ልክ እንደአንበጣ መንጋ ውድመትና ሰብል መጨረስ ነው። አንድ አንበጣ ብቻውን ወደ ፈለገበት በርሮ የሚግጠው ሰብል እንደማያገኝ ሁሉ ግብስብስ መንጋ ኮካዎችም እንደ ግለሰብ የራሳቸው የሆነ አቅዋም ይዘው ሲያራምዱ አይታዩም። ለዚህ አይነተኛ ማስረጃ ደግሞ የህዝብ ተወካዮች ምክር ቤት ሙሉ በሙሉ ሊባል በሚችል መልኩ የስልጣን መቀመጫ የያዙት ግብስብስብ ኮካ የፓርላማ አባላት ናቸው።

መንግስት ማፅደቅ የፈለገውን ሕግ መቶ በመቶ የማይደግፍ የገዢው ፓርቲ አባል የለም። አንድም ቀን መግስት ከራሱ የፓርላማ አባላት ተቃዉሞ ወይንም ክርክር ሲገጥመው አይታይም። እንደ መንጋ በድጋፍ እጃቸውን ያወጣሉ። እንደ መንጋ አንድ ላይ እንጃቸውን ያወርዳሉ። የራሴን አቅዋም ልያዝ። ይህ ነገር አላማረኝም። ትንሽ እንከራከርበት። እዚህ ላይ ማሻሻያ ይደረግ። ይህ ይጨመር። ይህ ይቀነስ። የሚል ምንም አይነት ክርክር የለም። እንዲህ አይነት ክርክር የሚያነሳ የገዢው ፓርቲ አባል ማለት ልክ በተለየ አቅጣጫ መብረር እንደሚሞክር አንበጣ ማለት ነው። ንፋሱ ጥሎት ይሄዳል። ሌሎች መንጋ አንበጦች ጥለውት ይሄዳሉ። ሕልውናው ከሌሎች የአንበጣ መንጋዎች ጋር የሞት የሽረት ሊባል በሚችል መልኩ ስለተሳሰረ ብዙም በሕይወት አይቆይም። ህይወቱን ለማራዘም ሲልልም የግድ በአንድ አቅጣጫ ከሌሎች መንጋ ኮካዎች ጋር መሰለፍ የቅንጦት ሳይሆን የህልውና ጥያቄ ይሆንበታል።

በእንዲህ አይነት የግብስብስ መንጋ ሕይወት አዙሪት ወስጥ የሚኖሩ ግብስብስ መንጋ ኮካዎች በግለሰብ ደረጃ የቱንም ያህል ሞራላዊ ስብእና ቢኖራቸው የመንጋው አካል ሲሆኑ ይህ የሞራል ስብእናቸው ሙሉ በሙሉ ሊባል በሚችል መልኩ ስለሚጠፋ ከሰውነት ወርደው ንፋስ እንደፈለገው በየአቅታጫው የሚበትነው አይነት ገለባ ይሆናሉ። በመሆኑም አውቀውትም ሆነ ሳያውቁት የመንጋው መሪዎች መጠቀሚያ ይሆናሉ።

ለምሳሌ በግለሰብ ደረጃ የሰው ልጅ ያለአግባብ መታሰር ወይንም መሰቃየትና መንገላታት የለበትም የሚል አቅዋም ቢኖራቸው የመንጋው አካል ሲሆኑ ይህ አይነቱ ግለሰባዊ የሞራል ስብና ሙሉ በሙሉ ይጠፋና በመንጋው ሞራላዊ ስብእና ይተካል። ኮካዎች በግለሰብ ደረጃ ጥሩ ሰዎች ናቸው። ቤተስክያን ይሳለማሉ። “ፈሪሃ እግዚያብሄር” አላቸውና እንደ ግለሰብ ሞራላዊ አስተሳሰብ አላቸው የሚለው አባባል ፉርሽ የሚሆነውም ለዚህ ነው። ምክንያቱም ምንም እንክዋን የሰው ልጅ ያለአግባብ መታሰር የለበትም ቢሉም ያለአግባብ እንዲታሰር የሚያግዙ (ለምሳሌ የ”ፀረ-ሽብር” አይነቱን ) ሕጎችን ጣታቸውን በመቀሰር ፓርላማ ውስጥ አፅድቀዋልና። በግለሰብ ደረጃ ቤተስክያን ተሳልሞ ጥሩ ሰው መባል በራሱ በመንጋነት ተግበስብሶ እንዲህ ያሉ ጨቅዋኝ ሕጎችን ከማውጣት አያስጥልም። ምክንያቱም የሰው ልጅ በግለሰብ ደረጃ የሚኖረው አስተሳሰብና አመለካከት ተግበስብሶ የመንጋ አካል ሲሆን ስለሚጠፋ እና በመንጋው አስተሳሰብና አመለካከት ስለሚተካ።

ግብስብስ የኮካ መንጋዎች ማለት ከከብት መንጋ በምንም አይለዩም። ሺህ የከብት መንጋ ጥቂት ፊት ፊት በሚሄዱ ሌሎች ከብቶች እንደሚነዳ ሁሉ እነዚህ ሰው ተብዬ ሮቦቶችም አካሄዳቸው ተመሳሳይ ነው። ፊት ፊት የሚሄዱ ሌሎች ግባሶ መንጋ ኮካዎችን ያለምንም ማመንታት ይከተላሉ። አንድ ከብት ከመሃል ሲጮህ ሌሎች ከብቶች ተከታትለው እንደሚጮሁት ሁሉ ግባሶ ኮካዎችም ከፊት ከፊት የሚሄዱ መሪዎቻቸው የሚያላዝኑትን መዝሙር ሲደጋግሙ ማየት የተለመደ ነው።

ለምሳሌ በአንድ ወቅት እነዚህ ግብስብስ ኮካዎች ሌት ተቀን ስለ ውሃ ማቆር ሲዘፍኑ ነበር። ስለ ቦናፓርትዝም ስለ ሙስና ስለ መልካም አስተዳደር ስለ ንዮልበራሊዝም ስለ ልማታዊ መንግስትነት ስለ ህዳሴ ስለ ሚሊኒየም ስለ ግድብ ስለ ብሔር ብሔረሰቦች ቀን ወዘተ ወዘተ። ከላይ የሚመጡ ሰሞነኛ ሃሳቦችን ልክ አንድ ከብት ሲጮህ ሌሎች ከብቶች ተከታትለው እየጮሁ እንደሚያስተጋቡት ሁሉ ግብስብስ የኮካ መንጋዎችም እነዚህን ቃላት ምንም እንክዋን ተርጉሞቻቸው ባይገባቸውም እንደ ከብት ተቀባብለው ሲያስተጋቡ ማየት የለት ተዕለት ክስተት ከሆነ ቆይቶዋል። ዉሃ ማቆር ሲባል ሁሉም በአንድ ላይ ውሃ ማቆር! ዉሃ ማቆር! ዉሃ ማቆር! ሲሉ ይጮሃሉ። ከመካከላቸው ይሄ ውሃ ማቆር ምትሉት ነገር ምንድነው? ጥቅምና ጉዳቱ ምን ላይ ነው? ይህ ቢሆን ይሻላል። ያ ቢሆን ይሻላል። የሚል ነቃፊ ወይንም ተቺ አስተያየት ያለው ኮካ አታገኙም። ምክንያቱም ያ የመንጋዎች ባህሪ አይደለምና። ግለሰቦች የመንጋ አካል ሲሆኑ ግለሰባዊ አስተሳሰባቸው ስለሚጠፋም ከግብስብስ ኮካዎች እንዲህ ያለ ነገር መጠበቅ ዘበት ነው።

የመንግስት መሪዎችና አርክቴክቶቹ ከግለሰብ መብትና ከግለሰብ ነፃነት ይልቅ ለቡድን መብትና ለቡድን ተፃነት ቅድሚያ ይሰጥ እያሉ የሚያላዝኑትም ለዚህ ነው። ልክ ኮካዎችን ወደ መንጋነት ቀይረው እንደፈለጉ እንደሚያሾራቸው ሁሉ ህብረተሰቡንም ወደ መንጋነት ቀይረው እንደፈለጉ ሊያሾሩት ይፈልጋሉ። ወደ መንጋነት ቀይረው እያሾሩትም ነው።

ግለሰቦች ወደ መንጋነት ሲቀየሩ ብዙም ማሰብ አይጠበቅባቸውም። በቀላሉ ይነሳሳሉ። በቀላሉ ወደተግባር ያመራሉ። ስለሆነም ወደ መንጋነት የተቀየረ ማህበረሰብን በአንድ አይነት አቅጣጫ መግራት ቀላል ነው። እረኛን ብትጠይቁት የተበታተኑ ከብቶችን ከማገድ ይልቅ በአንድ ላይ የተሰበሰቡ ከብቶችን ማገድ እንዴት እንደሚቀል ይነግራችዋል። የመንግስት መሪዎችም የቡድን መብት ይከበር ብለው ህብረተሰቡን ወደ ከብት መንጋነት መቀየር የሚፈለጉትም ለዚሁ ነው። አንድ ኢትዮጵያዊ እንደ ዜጋ ማነው ሳይሆን የየትኛው ብሔር/ቡድን ወይንም መንጋ አባል ነው የሚል ጥያቄ የሚያስቀድሙትም ለዚህ ነው።

መንጋነት የሚጠቅመው ክፍል ቢኖር እረኛውን ወይንም አራጁን ብቻ ነው። ይህንን ደግሞ ላለፉት ሃያ ሶስት አመታት በቡድን በቡድን መድበው ወዴ ቀራ እየወሰዱ ሲያርዱን እና ስጋችንን ሲበሉ የነበሩ እረኞቻችን በሚገባ ያውቁታል።
