What a long, strange trip it’s been. 

A little over three years ago, I joined The Sunguard. I started roleplaying the year before and had some pretty poor experiences with it, but I knew I loved the premise of it and wanted to advance the story of Avada Emberfall. 

That’s when I ran into @ocarina-of-what and @quelfabulous‘s work: a story of two elves in a guild called The Sunguard. 

So I dropped everything, swapped servers, and applied! First on my priest Feainne, before realizing I loved it enough to move Avada there, too. What followed was three years of an immersive creative environment full of warm, encouraging people who let me take my ideas and run with them. 

But I think now, it’s a good time to close the book that is The Sunguard. It’s bittersweet, but this is the type of ending that really just feels like turning the page. In those three years, I made a ton of incredible friends and maintain long-lasting creative projects. I actually started writing stories, which I’d never done before in my life. My art improved in DROVES (see above!!). I graduated college and started vet school.  Avada Emberfall leaves The Sunguard as a new officer of @hollowlightadventures, leading their Horde branch alongside @pyrosophist and @makotokino. She leaves as a stronger and more compassionate person than she was before, and she does not look back. But she does smile.

@thesunguardmg is ending for good, we got the announcement a while ago.

It’s taken me a lot of time, to think of what to write and how to say goodbye to something that has been such a huge part of my life for some of the very formative years of my life. We got the announcement a long time ago and I’ve had a lot of time to reflect and think on how I feel. I cried at first, change is something that I hate and it’s hard to deal with, and now I’m feeling a sort of calm.

I’m ready.

I’m ready to say goodbye, I’m ready to wrap up some stories, and end some links. I’m excited to move on with Adrianal and Velianor’s stories, because they are in no way ENDING in any meaning of the word. Adrianal and Felo’thore will continue, Velianor will continue, their stories won’t be stopped. I’ll still be posting their stories, their art, ideas and inspiration for them. This is just another leg in a long trip. The story with The Sunguard is ending and their story somewhere else is beginning. Where that is, I’m not too sure yet. I know I plan on taking a long break.

The Sunguard has been a group that has been so, so good for me. My formative young years of transitioning from a wary teenager into an adult were spent with this guild. I’ve met steadfast, longtime friends while here and I also learned how to lose people and how to accept change and move on. They even sat and taught me how to do my taxes and how to do positive credit! There has been a lot of laughter, a lot of tears, and a lot of emotion with this guild and I’ve been so, so happy here with my friends. They helped me grow up and they were my family for so long now. I will miss this guild all the time and the people I’ve met here, but I’m ready for this chapter in my life to close. I’ve grown up, I have different priorities, and I have different needs than I did when I first joined this guild. 

I don’t know what else to say or how else I can express these emotions that I have, how incredibly bittersweet and how incredibly fond and sad I feel. 

Goodbye, Sunguard. Goodbye and thank you for everything you’ve done for me.

Tonight is the final battle Adrianal and Felo'thore have under the Sunguard banner. The boys are going to fight their hardest to stop the machinations of the void from destroying their homeland and… retire, hopefully to more peaceful times. It has been a riveting 5 years writing and arting with @ocarina-of-what.

I’m so excited to take what started with these two, and write their hearts in our original story, @drumsofatelaer.

i know this exact post has been made hundreds of times but the funniest fucking part about Warhammer 40K lore is that orks are canonically reality-bending telepaths but are too stupid to exercise their abilities consciously; instead, things that enough orks think should work end up actually working, even if they violate the laws of physics. orks think that painting their vehicles red makes them go faster and painting missiles yellow makes them explode more, and so it does. captured ork mechs that get disassembled are usually revealed to be full of nothing but random scrap metal and wood piled haphazardly together and refuse to work when piloted by a non-ork. orks have fucking openable windows on their spaceships to let in a breeze
