Dolly Parton, what a woman! Absolute Glastonbury highlight and all time highlight when it comes to chat- there's a story behind every song and each one is told with a charming country twang. But never mind Dolly, what about the ice cream?
Following the Hay festival trend, Glasto was a bit of a mixed bag this year, showers and sunshine throughout with the odd mega downpour to keep us on our toes (or in our tents). But (of course) we all still managed to have a good time, and with no breakdowns (mechanical or mental) its was perhaps one of the smoothest Glastonbury's in recent years, now no one was expecting that!
Since then Justin has been to Cornbury with most of the crew and I headed off to Beyond the Border, a storytelling festival set in the most beautiful location- on the welsh coast amongst the buildings and castles of Atlantic College. It was exactly the sort of chilled out experience I needed after a week at Glastonbury, I was joined by my friend Fran and we were both completely charmed by the lovley people, fantastical stories and lazy sunshine. A true hidden gem that should be on everybody's summer schedule.
Last weekend we all had a break from festivals and put on our own mini one here. It was Martin's 60th birthday party and saw friends visiting form all over the country to come and help us celebrate. We had a line up of bands and even some walkabout, there was mountains of pulled pork, piles of chocolate brownies and of course, a bit of ice cream to go along with it all. Apparently even on our weekends off we can't stand the idea of sitting inside, eating from a proper oven or not having a good dance to our favourite bands along with old friends. I guess it just goes to show that there's no such thing as too much festivalling and whether its in our field or someone elses, we do love a good party.
