i have been looking through every single post with the dbhc tag on your blog because i was Intrigued(tm) and now i am feeling so unwell. they make me insane, symbolism and emotions and relationships aghhhhh. thank you i think but also i am going to be thinking about all of these guys for days, your characterization and art is amazing. you may have also singlehandedly made me interested in docsuma i don't even go here

Also, funnily enough, I also don’t go here regarding docsuma LMAO, i don’t actually ship normal hc x and doc very much—it was just kind of a thing that happened because of the dbhc au’s specific circumstances and has made me increasingly unwell over the course of all these years. It’s like, iderk how we got here but we sure are here and I sure am having a wonderfully good time <333

listening to Xisuma’s playlist and Ego came on and. Uh. There might be tears in my eyes.

EGO MAKES ME. [strangled noises] It's really. Honestly one day I would LOOOVE to do an animatic or really cool piece or short animation to Ego, it just makes me so incredibly insane. If there ever was a song to perfectly encapsulate 24 and Xisuma's unspoken dynamic during the most tense parts of season 8, this would be it. The end of this song especially just feels so so bad (/pos), and its so raw-feeling that there was just no other place to put it on the playlist. It's on both X and 24's playlist, representing the same moment for them: 24's emotional breaking point as he lashes out at Xisuma in an attempt to hold desperately onto the control that's slipping out of his fingers. Everything about this song, from the biting and abrasive and pointed verses to the seemingly-forcefully-muted sounded choruses... man. man. yknow? yknow. Something something, both xisuma and android 24 are trying to stay in control, in vastly different ways

I was listening to your dbhc Doc playlist and Ghosts and Monsters came on and now I’m scared. What are you planning to do to him

DW! Ghost and Monsters on Doc’s playlist is actually supposed to represent the post-Destruction and early season 9 era for Doc, so it’s not anything y’all don’t already know about, in theory! I imagine Doc struggles a lot with self image after Etho dumps all of those memories into his brain (and then dies/gets shut down while still connected to him), sometimes not being able to differentiate his own thoughts, feelings, and memories from Etho’s. I really like the narrative imagery of Doc being haunted, both metaphorically from Destruction+Dont Let It Reach The Heart and literally physical in his system from Etho, hence the phrasing of Ghosts and Monsters—

(Lyrics like “did I leave that door open, is my mind gone?” Make me think of like. Doc, whose comfort and self identity come from having complete control over himself and knowledge of the things around him, is looking into his code and realizing that he doesn’t recognize these bits of code that have been dumped into him. Very scary and unsettling for him I think. ALSO. The lyrics “Stay awake / ‘cause i’m afraid they’re comin’ for me when I / close my eyes” make me think of DLIRTH when doc tries to go to sleep in chapter 3 when, as he begins to go into sleep mode, Etho’s memories resurface in his subconscious and send him into a near-panic attack. ALSO ALSO, I think what really solidified this song for this part of the playlist for me was the scream after the song’s bridge. It always gives my really intense and vivid imagery of doc like. Reliving etho’s death and gripping his head. Something something waking up from a nightmare and knowing that it was all real)

—Etho is the ghost in his code and the monster under his bed that Doc can’t shake no matter what he does. This sentiment carries really well into the next song, Software Greatman, which explicitly spells out these themes (with the chorus being: “‘I don’t know how to get over this thing / ‘cause it’s always there / And every time I go back into myself / it’s just waiting there”) really well I think :)

Hi! I thought I’d put together a couple of rambles and doodles for my thought process on how I draw my Xisuma’s helmet! I hope it’s at least a little bit helpful :D

I can’t stress how much of my mental process is just telling myself “attempt the 3D shapes, but if it’s really and truly not working out after a bit of fiddling (esp if it’s just for a doodle or not a serious comic), it’s fine the way it is, because I’m gonna draw him a million more times, and the repetition will be more helpful at getting the hang of it than trying to make this one drawing perfect. Also people are not eagle-eye squinting at my shapes to see if they’re perfect, so don’t stress about it goober” so hopefully that helps too hehe :)

Not sure how canon the askers interacting with Android 24 really is but the idea of him eventually meeting Hels and being like "oh so that's what they meant >:O" amuses me greatly.

LMFAOOO STOP I’ve also had this thought actually. I don’t think the Ask Events are actually canon (more meant to give everyone a good glance into what things were like during those time periods), but I’ve definitely had silly images in my brain of 24 going “…. Ohhhhh” when helsknight comes into the picture FGJBDFHKDGHN and it amuses me greatly also =w=

I've just read through like, all of dbhc in the soan of seven-something hours. I don't even know much of anything about dbh but I liked the AU very much and I Might have to go watch a playthrough now.

HEHE HI <3 I’m so glad you like the au :DDD at this point I pretty much consider dbh and dbhc completely separate entities (because these days I’m doing whatever I want with the android mechanics and that was the only thing from dbh the au was based on LOL) but dbh still holds a super special place in my heart :D The characters are super enjoyable and it’s so easy to get wrapped up in their stories!! There are lots of good playthroughs out there, and lots of commentary-less walkthroughs of particular endings if you don’t see anyone you vibe with!

Regardless, I’m so glad you’re having a good time with au >:3 exciting things are coming, so you picked a good time!!

S9 Elf Gem my beloved :] I wanted to work an antler-looking kind of headpiece into her design that wasn’t actual deer antlers since that’s more of a s8 thing, so I went with this little crown thing that reminded me of the sun imagery she has in Empires 2 :D
