How late are the studios in the A-Wing open for? I'd like to work there in the evenings but am not sure how late I can stay.
they are open forever
Hi! Can someone recommend any mediums I should use for drawing hands, the characters, the storyboard, and the layout portion of the portfolio? I've seen a lot of dynamic lines and I don't know what they've used to create them? Maybe just a pencil overlapped?
pencil’s your best bet!
is there age limit for applying? like if i'm 24
no
Do first years get an art kit or supplies at the beginning of the year? If so, what kind of things are there? I know for fundies you get a ton of stuff.
We get nothing, unfortunately! As far as I know, unless it’s changed, you have to buy all the stuff yourself. However, I think the curriculum is mainly digital now so it shouldn’t be nearly as bad.
what if my style is somewhat similar to disney style?
then it’s similar
has anyone in the program ever taken a year off due to personal issues and come back the following year?
yeah tons of people do that
for the open house do we need our portfolio finished or can we just bring in some pieces?
bring in whatever you have
Are the degree breadth electives basically "minors"?
idk what a minor is
they’re like.. courses unrelated to animation like psychology to ‘broaden your knowledge’
When do we start enrolling? I saw the enroll button on the MyStudent Centre thing but it says it's not available at this time. All of my outstanding application requirements have been completed by now.
you sign up for classes in august I think
would it be bad to use brush pen to line for the portfolio? like for character turn around? is pencil okay or do we have to line it with ink?
you can do it with whatever you want
Do second years also have all required classes? Or do we have to sign up for the courses? Thanks!
in second year, you sign up for 1 elective each semester, the rest are all mandatory
did Sheridan provided us with a student number? If so then where can we find it?
when they send you an email after the get your application, it will have your student number in the email
is there anywhere I can get feedback on my art before applying? does sheridan have anything like that/do you know anywhere that could do that? I want to know what I need to improve on for the portfolio so that I have time to improve
in nov, there’s an open house you can attend, and profs will do a mini portfolio review session there
I know the trafalgar campus has a lecture hall in the sheldon levy centre. is that the only one one in the school?
Nope! There are lots of lecture rooms but it’s mainly classrooms.
Hey, does Sheridan provide free printing and photocopying for animation students?
Nope! But we do have a printing shop, and you get about $4 worth of printing money on your account when you first start here.
Hi! I was accepted into the program for next year and I was wondering if there is like an existing "blog" for futur students to meet each other, like a Facebook page or something ?Thank you very much
There is! The teachers encourage it and there’s a facebook page for each year of students. They’re usually called something like “Sheridan Animation Class of _____”, the blank being the year you would potentially graduate. So look up class of 2022! That should be you guys.
