the importance of watson isn’t that he’s useful. he’s important because he LOVES holmes and holmes loves him. whether he’s a crack shot or good in a fist fight or doctors ppl up real nice is beside the point. he doesn’t need to bring good detective skills to the table. that’s not why holmes wants him around. and watson doesn’t hang around with holmes just because he wants someone to oooh and ahhh at. they enjoy each other. they support each other. they love each other. that’s that.
