I am so thankful to God for blessing me with this life that I have. Though I am still facing challenges daily, I am thankful that I get to meet different people almost every day, every week. I get to work with different clients on different projects. The chance to build meaningful working relationships that have the potential to grow into lifelong friendships. I am not very much of a social person, but when it comes to business, I respect trust and honesty above all else. I honor integrity and diligence. #startuplife #lifeofastartup #startupsg #startupasia #workingrelationships
I guess, as someone whose always been outcasted, and also made to feel like he has something wrong; I’ve grown to feel like great opportunities never belong to me. For so many years, I always felt unworthy of great things, and I almost started believing that good things can never happen to me, and after awhile, I acted like I believe in it, but deep down, I just felt unworthy of anything good.
Lately, all the things that have been happening in my life has started to turn the chapter in my life. Things have started to change and improve, and things are honestly starting to get better. Well, I’m not 100% out of the dark place yet, but day by day, week by week, I am making progress and slowly leaving a part of my past behind me.
And one of those really amazing things that have happened to me, is being selected and awarded with the opportunity to work on a cross-platform mobile app that will be used during the upcoming United Nations Environmental Programme Conference. For me, I am just 1 person, and I never lied to the head of the department in-charge. They are aware that I am a Singaporean, whose just started my start-up like 6 months ago. They are aware that I am pretty much still on my own.
Giving. Contributing.
One of the things that I realised is that by being given this opportunity to contribute to United Nations on a global scale, I felt that God has provided me with an opportunity to do some good. While at the same time, I am feeling proud to be a Singaporean, and to be from Singapore.
They could have jolly well given the contract to some other more reputable company. But it has been given to me. And I have happily, humbly and gratefully accepted the offer.
I am proud that I have the chance to leave a mark and to do something significant on a global level. I do not know about other companies, or individuals, but if you ask me, this is a huge honour and privilege, one that I most certainly do not take lightly.
With close to 2000 world leaders and environmental leaders converging on this conference event, I can only imagine some of them using my app. Some of them can be MPs in their own countries, or even vice presidents, or presidents themselves. As a UX specialist, I intend to build an app that gives them an amazing positive experience to remember during the conference.
After doing some reading up and research into the “textbook” concepts of agile development lifecycle, I’ve come to realised that some times, in the real world, we have to learn to adapt our projects to the various circumstances and situations that can happen.
Like any situation, the project manager, or team lead must also be fluid, and so is the team that is building the app or project. Never fall into the trap of just sticking to a single practice and thinking to yourself that it must be the only one you should abide by throughout your project.

Well, let’s put it this way, I am not the guy who usually sticks to the traditional conventions. Honestly, being in this industry for the last decade, I have seen and experienced time and again how project managers who refuse to be flexible, end up suffering at the hands of the circumstances surrounding their projects.
As for those project managers that are willing to adapt, the projects usually experience a breakthrough that is...well, unexplainable hence, this confirms my understanding that project management and being a lead on any team does require not only skills, knowledge, experience, but also the foresight into the project.
How far are you pushing yourself? Are you gonna quit? NO! Results and #gainz only happen for those willing to push themselves beyond there standards yesterday. Our standards yesterday are the mediocrity for today. There are going to be people who will say you are crazy, they are going to call you a freak of nature. They will say that you are too "BIG". But let me say to you that whatever your fitness goals are, never let what others say or think get you down. Keep going. Keep pushing. Because you are getting better at it every single day! #gainz #pushyourself #fitnessmotivation #fitnesssg #inspiration #motivation #fitness #fattofit #metanoia (at Fitness First West Gate)
Well, if investors were to come ask me what I think will be the next big great investment opportunity in the tech industry, I will tell them #BigData. I will say that this is a trillion dollar industry that is waiting to be mature in the coming years. It’s not as wise to invest in storing big data, rather, it is the investment in making sure that big data can be transferred between backend and fronted systems in a secure and efficient manner.
2 very good points I picked up today during my conference experience is something that my workshop attendees said:
1. Memory Management
2. Performance
And I guess, as a crazy JS developer, and a passionate UX believer, I am out on a mission to discover, and/or built that framework which will be able to solve those 2 most pressing issues.
One of the things that we spoke about during our breakout session after lunch, was on Big Data and how JS will actually play a huge role when it comes to...
