Today I was sanding Jeff's latest #table. I think I am not normally a detail person, but I like finishing the tables. Today as I sanded I went slow. I #prayed a lot. It's interesting, really, you could sand a piece of wood to nothing and it would still be imperfect. It's flaws would still pop up. I use 60 grit and it breaks off the big chucks, removes stamps and stains. It is still rough. I still am stuck by splinters if I move my hand over it. Isn't that the same as my life? I was rough and flawed and I asked the Lord to save me. I use 100 grit and the splintered edges are removed, I can easily rub my hand over it... But it was not smooth. My life is full of bumps, mistakes and so I go to #church. I worship and listen to his word. I use 100 grit. The table is smoother, softer. Starting to look good to the naked eye. My outside appearance is changing..... But my heart is blemished still. So I begin to pursue #God. I begin to read his word. I use 200 grit. The table now looks and feels perfect... Smooth.... But it's not. When I stain it - when I add an outside influence -little wood fibers, little imperfections will pop up and I will need to gently sand it again with steel wool. The truth is the same for my life. Every day I am bombarded with things. Choices, people, influences, pressures, #desires.... I need to continually, daily allow God to gently work on my heart by reading his word and spending time with him. I will also never be perfect. Just like the table though I am #loved and accepted.
