ADHD makes it SUPER HARD to read books, but you know what? As nice as paper books are, the Kindle app is phenominal for people with ADD or ADHD. I’ve discovered this in the last ten minutes or so.
Short sections with large text so you don’t get distracted or overwhelmed by the number of words on a page, plus progress stats to keep track of what you’re doing
The ability to highlight sections you’re having particular trouble focusing on or understanding so you can separate it from the rest of the text
You can also make notes when your thoughts are too busy to keep in your head
Plus, when you highlight words or phrases, wikipedia, a translator, and a dictionary pop up in case you’re like me and obsessively stop to look up new words, particularly when other languages pop up
Miss a plot point somewhere? You can search words in the book to find specific mentions of it.
And if you need to, you can change the font, line spacing, color, text size, and margins.
Honestly this is a godsend for anyone who misses when they used to love reading
The Mayans had mastered water pressure and had fountains and toilets as early as 750 AD. Aztecs had running water and sewage.
The Victorians In the mid-1800s were dying of cholera because they just dumped their raw shit in the river Thames. They wouldn’t shower for months at a time because they were afraid of the polluted water.
Incans had created aquaducts in the slopes of the vast Andes mountains to reach the emperor, cities and farmers who used agricultural terraces.
Mayans, Aztecs, and Incans were far more advanced than the savage Europeans.
Reblogging since white people are sooooo upset about this.

Hazel Scott playing two pianos at the same damn time with ease
Hazel Scott was a musical sorcerer and a civil rights hero. She:
was admitted to Julliard at 8.
was performing in top venues by 16.
pioneered “swinging the classics” and made the equivalent of a million dollars a year doing it.
was the first person of color to have their own national TV show.
went to Hollywood but refused to be cast as a “singing maid.” Demanded and got control over her casting, her wardrobe, and how footage featuring her was cut.
refused to perform in segregated venues and led charges for integration in several northern cities, notably Spokane.
She was brought down by the House Committee on Unamerican Activities, and has been largely forgotten. But she was a sorcerer, and a hero.

Let’s un-forget her.
i’ve just come across one of my favourite videos on the internet
The supreme lesson of education is to think for yourself; absent this attainment, education creates dangerous, stupefying conformity. — Bryant McGill
