Elena definitely likes Margo--after all, she asks exactly the right sort of questions. "Louboutins," she says mournfully. "You know, the gorgeous ones with the red soles. Now you realize why I'm going to have to kill whoever took them, I take it?"

Elena grins when the other girl asks for food first--also her usual first choice, as well. "Food's through here, you have to take a left by that statue--oh, and don't listen to any of the ghosts, they'll all get you lost. Some of them mean well, but they keep forgetting we can't walk through walls like them. I'm Elena, by the way. Elena Macmillan. Excited to be at Salem, then, Halen Talotta?"

Unbelievable. This girl interrupts her when she’s in the middle of an Arithmancy paper–and a very interesting one at that, thank you very much–and then has the audacity to call her rude, to start taking shots at her appearance. Absolutely unbelievable. Camilla would be offended if it wasn’t so amusing, nearly impossible.
“You’re extraordinarily pushy,” she says finally, shaking her head. “And remind me again why you can’t just ask? Wouldn’t it be that much better if you did? I mean, if it’s seriously that important, then yeah, I can help, but you’ll have to tell me what you’re looking for anyway, because I’ll just take the books out myself. Madam Pince loves me. I could ask her for the entire Restricted Section and she’d give me everything in alphabetical author.”
"I am," Elena agrees, because it's important to be self-aware. "Especially with things that are annoyingly important. I can apologize if you want, and I can promise I'll try to be less pushy, and I will try, because I keep my promises, but it's mostly a lost cause by now. If it helps at all, I do promise I mean very well."
"Because I'm a Slytherin, and last thing I want is people thinking I'm getting into the Dark Arts. It just doesn't go with my whole aesthetic," she jokes, an easy grin on her face, before turning serious for the first time since the conversation started. "Alright, fine, it's--it's werewolves. I want to read about werewolves. Someone--important to me got bitten during the battle and I want to know what I can do to help. Please don't tell? I really don't want to draw attention to it."

“I didn’t ask if he was that bad,” Daphne points out with exaggerated patience, but she knows it’s a lost cause. “And I definitely didn’t ask about his genitalia–do you do this every time you see people you barely know? Start talking about penises that they never asked about?
“And no, I don’t want coffee, I want to finish running my errands.” Daphne presses her lips together, fingers tapping irritably against her thigh. “I’m not particularly bothered by my rudeness, either, so if you could just–” She gestures for Elena to move to the side; Daphne would have to shove past her to get through the door, and she usually draws the line at any sort of physical movement of other people.
"Oh no," she says cheerfully, unfazed by the rudeness. "People I barely know rarely mention my lamentable taste in romantic entanglements, though, so it's not like I have reason to bring it up. I had a good reason for being with him, I didn't just, you know, walk up to the Loser Club and pick the first asshole I could find."
Well, then--Daphne's just as rude as she's always been, and while Elena likes it a lot of the time--most of the time, in fact--staying where she's clearly not wanted has never been her style. She's got way too much self-respect for that, thank you very much. "Well, I tried," she says with a shrug, stepping aside. "Tell 'Tori I said hi and have fun with what's left of your errands."

"I don't have to, but violence gets the job done so why not? Besides, they have it coming." Elena's usually much nicer than this, she really is--but no one messes with her shoes. "Lead the way, then."

“You have more clothes than God,” Astoria scoffs, only vaguely paying attention, though she looks up from the gift and pouts. “Are you insinuating my clothes are slutty?” she asks, even though they are. “Worse, are you insinuating that I have clothes that aren’t? You’re lucky I don’t disown you.” She rips the paper from the box, withdrawing the vibrator first– ( “Perfect,” she mutters as she does, “I broke the last one” ) –and the shoes next, before setting both down on her bed and all but flinging herself at Elena, covering her face with sloppy kisses.
"I have more clothes than God in England," Elena corrects, sticking her tongue out at Astoria. "We aren't in England anymore, darling. And of course you have slutty clothes--I'd have disowned you otherwise--and a girl always needs a pair of non-slutty clothes. For, like, funerals. And getting your hair done. Last thing I want is someone messing up my hair because they got distracted by how hot I was. It happens a lot, sadly," she confines, before letting out a long-suffering sigh. "One of the problems of being this disarmingly good-looking, really." She shrieks loudly at Astoria flinging herself at her, wrinkling her nose at the sloppy kisses. "Oh my God, don't slobber on me," she yelps, giggling far too much to be taken seriously. "This is exactly why I don't get a puppy."

If she’d hoped that her refusal would win her some quiet, she was mistaken; Camilla sighs when Elena sits down, wondering how long she can ignore the other girl before looking up at her and leaning forward, a bored expression on her face.
“I don’t care about your House-prejudice experiences or shoes,” she insists. “And I really don’t see why you can’t just ask the librarian to let you past. Besides, what do you expect to help me with in homework? I’m hopeless with a wand, that’s not going to change any time soon, and I’m good enough with theory that I can manage the rest without help.” But she’s always been a bit of a sucker for real tears, and she hates herself for it but she shrugs. “What are you looking for, anyway?”
"You're very rude, did you know?" Elena says with an exaggerated pout. "That will lead to wrinkles one day and there's only so much magic can do about that. I mean, it's cool if you don't mind, as long as you're aware."
She hesitates, chewing on her lip, as Camilla asks her what she's looking for, and offers her a shaky shrug. "That's a--complicated question, actually. It's something a bit personal." Werewolves. She wants to read about werewolves, find out everything she can about what she is now--but she's not ready to divulge that information just yet. "Look, I can stop being annoying if you want and get out of your way, but it's--it's important. I wouldn't be asking for help if it wasn't, and if I could get it any other way then I would."

I worry about them, I really do.” ( And she does–is it that the girls here are unaware, or just disinterested? No matter; it’s none of her concern, and she’s a bit too self-absorbed to do anything out of charity. )
“Unless you’re just looking to corrupt poor virgin girls and steal their innocence, in which case, have at it.”
"You know, I really don't think your own orgasms lose any of their fun just because other people are getting off as well," Elena points out, laughing as she nudges Astoria's shoulder with hers. She's amused by the thought, much more than it is perhaps kind to be, but it's not like she minds guiding anyone out of the sexual Dark Age.
"I can't believe you think I would ever corrupt poor virgin girls," she says scathingly, the corners of her mouth twitching up. "By which I mean it's exactly what I'd do. Cheers. Wanna join me?"

“Well, that’s a pity. I was hoping those rumours were true. Is it still cheaper than it is here, at least? I mean, I like water well enough, but sometimes a girl just needs something with a little more kick.”

“I don’t care about the conversation you just had, or your love life. I’m trying to get into the shop.” Daphne’s not at all sure why the woman’s stopped talking, only that she’s grateful that she has–and then all that falls away when she starts talking again.
Of course, she looks familiar, and when the woman mentions Astoria, it clicks. “Elena Macmillan.” One of Astoria’s friends. The loud one. The loud, blonde one. Which, then again, describes most of Astoria’s friends, but Daphne can hope that she’ll develop quieter tastes. “Hello. I’m well. And you? Besides your evidently lamentable taste in romantic entanglements.”
Well, it's nice to know some things never change, and Daphne is as delightfully rude as she's ever been. Of course she could always just have gone around Elena, rather than start snapping, but of course she just wouldn't have been Daphne then.
"He wasn't that bad," she says dismissively, before sighing. "Okay, yeah, he was that bad, and I'd say I didn't know what I ever saw in him, but he had a spectacular dick, so I think it's pretty obvious what it was. Pity he also was a huge dick. Assuming it is who I think it is. If it's the other guy, he's just really pretty. I'm good, other than people breaking up with me over the phone. Can I buy you coffee? It's terribly rude to say no to someone who just got broken up with."

The girl was an excellent student, in some ways what others might view as her ‘ disability ‘ really just lending itself to her caution, a trait Regina respected. The girl held a particular place in the President’s heart, though it was an affection she worked to hide. After all, her — station lent itself to unbiased review.
“ I think the general precedings we have in place now should suffice. However, if you at any time feel the need that they be heightened. I am more than willing to help. You are an exempliary student, and you have done so well I do not wish this change to negatively affect you. “
A born perfectionist, being bitten as young as she was only made Elena strive to be the very best version of herself she could possibly be. Hard work and dedication meant she thrived in school--more in some subjects than in others, as the more theoretical classes were still a bit of a problem of a her--and her easy charm meant she thrived in social situations as well. She did like Professor Mills, much more than she'd found likely upon first meeting the woman, finding her too austere, and as much as Elena doesn't want to let herself down, she doesn't want to let the professor down as well.
"Oh, that's quite alright, then, Professor," she says cheerfully, hands resting on her laps. "I just wanted to check if anything else was required. I'm very comfortable with the current arrangements, truth be told. And thank you, Professor, truly, for everything. Your support has been extremely important."

the girl was just as lost as she looked, she had spent most of her morning trying to situate herself in such a foreign place. ❝ y-yeah … ‘m jus’ a bit lost. um… do you know where the– uh, ❞ she looked at her paper, and then spoke again, ❝ dormitory and dining hall are? ❞
"Of course," Elena said with a warm smile, gesturing for the younger girl to follow her. "Do you want food or the dormitory first? I usually prefer food first but it's up to you. You're in my House, right? Fairfield?" Offering her a reassuring smile, Elena lead her down a long corridor. "It's through here either way--so, what's your name?"

she was not, in fact doing anything important (unless you can count staring off into the distance as important) and was quite happy to help out the other girl. “there’s no need to be so VIOLENT. i’m like ninety nine point nine percent sure that i saw this sixth year running down the hall with them.”
"They stole my shoes--they will die S C R E A M I N G."
A pause, and then--"Do you want to help or should I just let you go look for an alibi in peace?"

“I’m afraid you’d be worse than useless. Elena. - But, if you put some time in at the pitch with a good player you’d definitely end up better than your house’s current keeper.”
"Oh, don't be like that--I'm sure that worst case scenario I could at least be used as a bad example. And do you have any idea what spending time in the desert does to my hair?"

Harry laughs at that, too, delighted that she appears to realize that whatever weird obsession thing was going on between him and Malfoy when they were in school was definitely a both ways kind of thing. He likes this girl, he decides.
“Deal,” Harry says with a bright grin. “Absolutely you have a deal.” He warms at her closer presence and then leans across the bar to get the bartender’s attention, managing to convey what he wants mostly by pointing at pictures on the drink menu. A bit of a mess, but it got the job done. Much like him.
Aware that he’s being asked something that requires an answers, he puts himself to thinking about it. “Tomorrow night? Or the next night. I’ll need to do some shopping first, but I can make time to cook for you.”
Elena bites her lip so she doesn't comment on Harry's terrible Italian--at least he's trying, she supposes, and that ought to count for something. Plus, he's getting them both drinks, which usually makes it that much easier for her to like someone else. And now that he's finally gained a few inches (when it comes to his height, at least--she hasn't looked below the waist yet), she supposes she gets what a lot of the hype is about. The eyes are to die for.
"Tomorrow night is wonderful," she says cheerfully. "I really don't know how long I'll be here for anyway, so the sooner the better. And shopping?" she asks, brightening up considerably at the idea. "The fun kind of shopping?"

She arches an eyebrow at the crocodile tears and the overused flattery, not bothering to look up from the book in front of her. Camilla has surrounded herself with charts, her hands are covered in ink, and she couldn’t be less pleased to be interrupted if she tried.
“Yes. I can. Watch: no. Besides, if you can’t figure out how to get into the Restricted Section yourself, you probably can’t be trusted with whatever you find there.”
"Ugh, you're no fun," Elena says with an exaggerated pout, slumping down into a chair in front of Camilla. "I used to have no problem getting in. And then the war happened and everyone thinks I'm going to start stabbing people left and right just because I'm a Slytherin."
"Do I look like the sort of person who'd do anything to get blood on her shoes? Please. I really could use some help getting in, though," she says tiredly, and this time the emotion is real. "Some reading I have to do, and the non-Restricted section is giving me nothing. Could I help you out with some homework or something, maybe?"
