☆ Brud speaks in 3rd person, we know it's a popular headcanon, but it fits them so well!!!
☆ He/it for Simon, they/them for Brud, he/him for Jevin

I couldn't get myself to face Brud, especially not after what I've done.
I know I was being controlled, I know I didn't mean to, but I still feel at fault, I still feel like the monster I once was.
After we have all gathered together the first time after the whole chaos, I was happy things were going back to normal, or, as normal as they could get.
Bandages on their head and abdomen, partially missing head.
I felt the worst guilt of my life, I almost started tasting the flesh and blood again, I felt like I was gonna puke right there and then, just like the first time, right after I was turning back to normal.
The tightening of my stomach, the violent reaction my body had after gaining back my senses, the teste of iron, the clumps that were occupying my stomach, spilled out almost immediately, all i saw was blood, bits of meat and
with an eyeball staring back at me.
Everytime I see Brud, I remember that eyeball staring at me.
I wanted to apologize, but an apology wouldn't undo all the damage I've done.
During the gathering, I ran, not having the gut to look back, not wanting to remember anything anymore, not wanting anyone to see me anymore.
After running out of breath, I sat under a tree, catching my breath, trying my best not to cry again, bringing my knees to my chest, hugging my legs and hiding my face and shame from the world.
I still felt the guilt eating me up from the inside, but I felt calmer.
looked ahead, wondering what I could even do with myself now, how the other sprunkies see me now, how I'll face... them.
I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder, and flinched, almost tumbling over, looking up to see who it is
I couldn't tell, he's always been hard to read.
"I saw you running away after the gathering, do you feel guilt for what you did?" he questioned.
I looked away, I couldn't bring myself to look him in the eyes, but answered regardless "Yes, I just can't bring myself to even go near them, I'm scared that they might be afraid of me now and.. and I just" my voice cracking and the tears flowing once again.
"Simon, Brud doesn't recognize danger, their body don't register pain, and I doubt they hold grudges, especially if you apologize to them. You didn't have control over yourself, and you know that. All the abnormal sprunkies didn't have any control over what they were doing. I understand you feel guilty, but the best you can do is reconcile with Brud and apologize to them, you can't hide away forever Simon." He explained.
He's right, I can't just hide and feel sorry for myself for the rest of my life.
"Okay, I'll.. I'll talk to them, I'll do my best.. Thank you Jevin" I coughed out, feeling nervousness slowly creeping in.
Arriving back at the gathering spot, all the sprunkies now doing their own things, hanging out in groups, talking, playing, singing, like in the old days, and Brud, chasing a butterfly, at least to the best of their abilities.
Nervousness began taking over my body, hands shaking, feeling sweat beads forming on my forehead already, and then I felt it again, Jevin's hand resting on my shoulder, turning my head towards him, giving me a nod. I nodded back at him, feeling a little bit reassured, and a little more brave.
I walked up to them, heart beating out of my chest, rubbing my hands together, trying to calm myself down.
"Hey Brud" I finally spoke.
They turned their attention to me, fully facing me.
Before they could respond, I continued "I know what I did and I wanted to say, I'm so sorry, I really didn't mean to bite you, and you didn't deserve that, I'm sorry, I understand if you can't forgive me, but I just wanted to apologize." I couldn't look him in the eye while saying it, I just stared at the ground, feeling shame and guilt crushing my chest.
I heard the grass shuffling, I braced for the worst.
I was caught off guard, and froze
"It's okay, Brud forgives Simon, Simon can be Brud's friend again." they muttered as they held me.
My throat was tied into a knot as tears spilled out like waterfalls, the relief, the joy of feeling whole again, being released of the monster that was once there, the shame no longer being present.
I hugged them back, being careful to avoid their bandage, sobbing into their shoulder "Thank you.. Thank you so much." I cried out, letting out the guilt that once haunted me.
Moments passed, happy memories forming, I stood by Brud's side, turning my gaze to them, the sickness and guilt being replaced by joy and relief, reaching over and petting their head, surprising them for a second, then immediately excitedly leaning into it.
I saw Jevin in the corner of my eye, looking over and waving at him with a smile on my face. He waved back, seeing a small smile form on his face.
I'm so glad things can finally be okay again.
