It was a big deal to carry the flag, but Galadriel knew she’d only been picked to walk ahead of the rest of the Lindon team because there wasn’t another high profile Noldor to lead the thirty-six men and women out into the packed stadium. Scrunching her nose as she heard the countdown start like it could stop all the unwanted tears welling in her eyes from falling, her late brother, Finrod, not even there in the stands to cheer her on this time, she tried to shut out the sound of the appointed Southlands captain being celebrated by his group before he’d even proven himself this cycle.

thinking of haladriel like! their bond is not a crack allowing light to trickle through, but a jagged wound. a splinter lodged deep, festering with an ache that neither can soothe. to elrond, it is a thorn to be plucked; yet galadriel, for all her goodness, cannot bring herself to sever her connection with sauron, for in the pain she finds the last vestige of something true since her brother’s passing. meanwhile, halbrand feels she has shattered and reshaped him in ways no other soul could. he would cleanse his hands in hallowed waters if only to be deemed worthy of her touch, yet she has spurned him. now both are burdened by the humiliation of how swiftly their rawest vulnerabilities were laid bare before the other’s unyielding gaze. how effortlessly they were seen and undone. the world does not understand the gravity of what lies between them—this silent, aching war. and people don't like this show!! crazy!!!

Some of you not watching the show think that scene with Galadriel saying about Sauron, "I cannot let him in again. I cannot," and the cut to that scene of them sitting on the log together after she admitted she "felt it, too" and the corner of his mouth sort of pulled back into almost something but not quite was just something added in by the gif makers from S1 to help emphasize the scene.

But I am here to tell you that supercut was actually part of the show, and they really went there.

the fact that in trop canon, sauron is written with bearing in mind the fact that he LOVES galadriel??????? L O V E S HER???

imagine being galadriel knowing that the evil incarnate loves you? the abyss that she gazed into with hatred for so long gazed back into her with love!!!

and she is the only thing he is capable of loving? bc there is this cosmic connection between them that is just out of this world, metaphysical, entirely unique??? that they have their very beings bound to one another? that it's something much greater and of a higher essence than anything shallow and common? that they are the light and the dark fated to never unite but being eternally connected in a way that they are unable to with anyone else?

what are we even supposed to do with this information? how are we going to collectively ever be sane again???
