Dogecar Is Going to the All-Star Race!

Dogecoin ambassador Josh Wise is on his way to the moon once again. So victory. In a stunning upset this Friday, Wise beat out Danica Patrick (projected winner) in an online vote to send one of ten NASCAR drivers to the Sprint All-Star Race. Butthurt Patrick fans accused reddit fans of rigging the vote, according to reports.

Wise is the driver of the fearless #98 Dogecar, famous for its unparalleled ability to avoid serious wrecks, while hypnotizing drivers behind it with a playful, yet mischievous pair of eyes. Amaze.

The race is taking place tomorrow (Saturday) at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in North Carolina, at 9PM. That's right, it's a night race, shibes: Bring a blankets, and umbrellas as the Charlotte area forecast has called for some rain.  With $1 million on the line, you can bet there will be plenty of cryptocurrency fans glued to their television sets. Despite placing 22nd, two spots behind the dogecar in Aaron's 499 two weeks ago, Danica Patrick has taken first place in NASCAR's Sprint Fan Vote. Not to worry, shibes, the strong support of the dogecoin community seems enough to push #98 Josh Wise into second place, which would pass him on to compete in the All-Star Race.

The Dogecar finished 20th at Aaron's 499!

Dodging (or should we say doge-ing?) a number of accidents this afternoon, #98 Josh Wise, finished 20th in his r/dogecoin-sponsored NASCAR ca at Aaron's 499, at Talladega Superspeedway, in Alabama. It's been painted, and here it is in all its NASCAR glory. This dogecoin-sponsored dogemobile is the car that #98, Josh Wise, will drive at Aaron's 499, at the Talladega Superspeedway, a week from today (Sunday, May 4th, 1pm EDT). We're so excited here at Shibe Times, and can't wait to see it go around the track!

Andres Hernandez, an immigrant worker, was robbed of $400 in cash, and brutalized in Riverhead, Long Island, and featured in this exclusive report by Newton J. Burkett, of WABC7 Eyewitness News.

Attacks like this one have been ongoing in the area, and it's just unacceptable.

Gathered in the editorial lounge, we at the Shibe Times were brought to tears watching Andres's story. We're taking initiative to help the battered man pay for his medical costs and additional damages. We want to throw him some doge! But our shibes are limited on funds.

Our editorial staff so far have donated 15,000, and urgently need help from others in the community, as this is what our community is all about. We embrace others when they're hurt and need it the most.

Wow. Very legislature. 'Virtual Currency Tax Reform Act' introduced in US Congress

On Tuesday, Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Tx) introduced federal legislation to change the way "virtual currency" is defined by the United States. If the bill becomes law, the government would officially recognize Bitcoin, and other virtual currencies, as actual currency. Stockman's bill, otherwise known as the "Virtual Currency Tax Reform Act," didn't appear out of nowhere. Last month, the IRS announced that virtual currencies are property, not currency at all. That means that not only are transactions taxable, but any gain in the currency’s value during the time you own it, is as well. Stockman’s bill explains: “The classification of virtual currencies as property means that users would be required to pay capital gains tax on any transaction using the virtual currency based on any gain over the virtual currency’s value from the time of purchase.” At the moment, it's difficult to say what hope, if any, Stockman’s bill has of becoming law. It is, nevertheless, historic. The #VCTRA, or Bitcoin Bill—whatever the kids have started calling it—is the first piece of federal legislation to address virtual currency before Congress. No matter what happens, it's going to be fun, and possibly terrifying, to observe lawmakers grappling with the variety of cryptocurrencies available. (inb4 get that dogecoin off my lawn.)

Fun fact: Stockman is the first U.S. Congressman to accept political contributions in the form of Bitcoin, which a few people apparently thought was sort of sketchy, because, of course, it’s not money. In a statement, Stockman’s office told the press: “Along with 3-D printers and nanotubes, cryptocurrency is the future. We need to encourage it, not discourage it."

Having taken 57.16% of 5,413 total votes, the black design won. While plenty of votes were cast for the gold scheme, #98 Josh Wise, will be driving the car pictured above, at the Talladega Superspeedway, May 4th, for Aaron's 499, at 1PM.
