bubonem:
Eto paused.
He was right, of course – she was a liar, and a wicked person. Those were all aspects of the person known as Eto that she had accepted years ago. Yet, why did Kaworu’s words sting so much?
Ah, it reached her then, the harsh fact that those closest to her would always suffer – whether from her hands or from those that wished her harm; anyone who dared even got close to Takatsuki Sen was a potential target. Kaworu had been no different.
“Kaworu-kun.”
“Has it not been months since I last saw you? What have you been doing?” She wasn’t trying to change the subject, no, but rather try and understand where such words were coming from Kaworu. “I do care about what happens to you, so please don’t misunderstand me; it’s not about who I trust or care for more, I simply…”
Simply, what? Eto hesitated again, unsure of what to say.
“I was always watching over you.”
Kaworu admitted. That was how he knew how to meet the boy on that day. That was how he knew he was being spied on by that boy’s guardian. He could see from so far away, he really was a guardian angel in that regard.
He let his head hang for a moment. This had gone too far. Something infected him, like a snake crawling up in his chest. It coiled and coiled into knots, and as the knots pulled tighter he felt worse. He had only meant to make her feel guilty, but now he was the one feeling genuie emotions.
Kaworu stopped crying, immediately his expression became neutral as he stood up. He had only been faking after all it was easy to stop. He moved towards the door and turned his eyes back only for a second to watch her.
“Tell me Eto, from the moment you were born has there ever been a point where you actually told the truth?”
Kaworu walked out the door and slammed it with his own mind. His AT Field there hovered and kept it shut for a minute, enough to give him time to leave without being followed.
