My deeeeeeeaaaar, ask and you shall receive! You might be disappointed, since No End is just the last chapter to the first arc of Tandem, and Shining is (T)Roped Together, which has been pointed out, to my chagrin, only had one chapter that actually posted to I'm having to rewrite the rest. *Tears forever.* But, onto the excerpts!
From Tandem:
Inuyasha forced himself to shut the bathroom door quietly, his hand shaking on the knob. The heightened sexual tension from the past few weeks, combined with the sight of her curled up in his bed in one of his t-shirts, was about to assassinate what little control he had left.
He released the breath he had been holding, deciding that he might take a shower to calm down.
No sooner than the thought crossed his mind, and he had to inhale.
Instantly, the scent of Kagome’s arousal slammed into him, filling his nostrils and coating the back of his throat. His eyes rolled back at the intensity, and he dropped to the tile floor, the hard surface sending a shock through his knees.
What the absolute fucking hell! The erection he'd been fighting sprang to life with a force that left him dizzy, and he cupped himself through his jeans, desperate for a little release. He whined when he realized the smell was even stronger down here. Confused, he leaned forward, trying to find the source. One clawed hand reached out to scrabble at the door to the cabinet under the sink, where the smell was strongest.
Once open, his fingers brushed up something with an odd, rubbery texture and he knew immediately it wasn't one of the bottles of cleaning products that he usually kept in that cabinet. Curiously, he pulled it out, nearly dropping it when he saw what he was holding.
A vibrator.
A fucking purple, textured vibrator.
And it was still wet.
Which explained Kagome’s nervousness; she was sitting in his bed, probably with no pants, her thighs still slick.
Normally Inuyasha would stay in here and take care of himself until he could walk out there and remain in control. But the last couple of weeks of high sexual tension that kept being interrupted had weakened him, and Kagome’s current state caused something in his mind to snap completely.
He was done.
Eyes tinged red, he stood and opened the bathroom door, leaning around the frame to get her attention.
“Sorry I didn't let you know the trip got canceled,” he said, noticing the way she held his blankets tightly to her waist.
“Oh, it’s no problem--it isn't like you can’t walk into your own home whenever you want,” she answered with a high-pitched, nervous laugh.
“Mm. I could have at least checked if you needed anything,” he continued silkily. “Dinner. Paper towels.” He stepped out of the bathroom, holding up the vibrator with a predatory grin. “Batteries.”
From across the room, he could hear her breath hitch, her eyes growing wide in mortification. Before she could panic, he was at the foot of the bed, one knee on the mattress.
“Did you finish?” He asked, eyeing the way his t-shirt stretched across her chest.
“Wha--I--” Kagome gasped out, her mind struggling to process the situation.
“Did. You. Finish?” He asked again, a light growl rippling through his voice.
Slowly, she shook her head; he didn't seem like he was mad that she had been doing that in his bathroom, and frankly, there was something about his reaction that was turning her on even more--she was desperate after putting this off for so long.
He smirked, tossing the vibrator onto the bed as he slowly crawled toward her. “Even if ya did, I don't think it lasted,” he snickered, able to smell her increased arousal. “Want me to help with that?”
From Together:
From the moment Kagome slid into the car, she had felt like this was a setup. She argued with herself, believing that there was no way calm, level-headed Sango would ever do such a thing.
Now, three hours later, she was praying that Sango's firstborn would be twins, so she could have the pleasure of buying each of them their own drum set.
"Let me guess," Inuyasha's voice came from the hallway behind her, 'There's only one bed."
"Oh, no," Kagome answered, shifting so he could see into the room. "That would be crass. We were given options."
Suspiciously, Inuyasha peered inside, before dragging his hand down his face with a groan. The 'options' were a perfectly comfortable, normal looking bed. Just big enough to fit two comfortably.
The second option was a rusted-out cot, thin, damaged mattress already pushing past the springs. The third and final option was a blow-up mattress that was maybe three inches off the floor, and looked to be sinking fast. Even from this distance, he could hear the sad, slow hiss of air, and knew that even trying to blow it back up was a lost cause.
"You know, there's plenty of room out here to bury a body," Kagome mused, not taking her eyes off the room.
"Two. Miroku is an accomplice."
"How do you know?"
"It's Miroku. Tell me how he could ever be anything other than guilty."
Okay, you know how some fics written during that time period were….all over the place? Alien ninjas meets 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea? Yes. Some of them were train wrecks. And then others….worked. Oddly. You wouldn’t think so by the description, but once you read it, it felt perfectly natural! I was going for the latter.
Setting: Modern day Japan, but the blending of the human and demon societies have slowed down technological advances. Demons are basically running the show, but that doesn’t usually affect the daily lives of the humans.
Unless the wars between the different factions become too violent.
Unless you are a Miko, whose allegiance and powers are coveted. A prime spot has opened up with Sesshomaru, son of the late Dog General, and ruler of the western lands. Kagome has an ace up her sleeve to ensure that she gains that spot, putting her in place to exact revenge on the demon who murdered her father.
The only catch? As a way of cementing their arrangement, Sesshomaru has one demand; she must marry his younger brother.
(Because, of course, this wouldn’t be complete without the Arranged Marriage trope thrown in.)

Oklie doklie, artichokies! I’m only going to toss out some recent(ish) ones; some have dust, but no mold accumulation yet. And others are so short and disjointed, they look like (and probably were) notes from a fever dream, so I’ll avoid those too. There’s a mix of InuKag and NaLu, so to avoid disappointment, I’ll mark which is which.

A small snippet of something new I’ve been working on. 👀
The windchimes tinkled gently in the evening autumn air, the same breeze twisting several dark strands of hair across Kagome’s face. She stood at the kitchen door, the warmth from the indoors beckoning her to return to her cozy seat by the heater.
In the light.
Where it was safe.
She wished she could send Souta out for the bag their mother had forgotten in the car, but her unease wouldn’t allow her to put him in danger. Instead, she stepped off the small porch, holding her breath as she tiptoed across the yard. Against her will, her gaze was drawn to the Bone Eater’s well, the small building that surrounded it looking more dilapidated than ever in the setting sun. It had always made her uneasy, and the feeling had only grown stronger in the last few years.
She allowed herself a small moment of relief when she reached the car, although she couldn’t help but wince at the loud crack the door made when she shut it—if she didn’t know it would drain the battery, she would have left it open.
With the shopping bag clutched in one hand, she turned back to the house, the light from the window spreading much further away than it would during the day. The sun was setting faster, the shadows stretching across the ground, reaching for her unprotected ankles.
It was when she reached the midway point that she heard it.
The scratching.
Something sharp dragging against wood in slow, even strokes.
Hide.
It was coming from the well.
Hide.
Stumbling, Kagome sprinted for the house, almost sobbing as she crossed the threshold. She slammed the door behind her, wanting nothing more than to join the rest of her family in the other room. Instead, she moved to the window and twitched aside the edge of the thin blue curtain.
She knew every detail of the building that housed the well. Every nick. Every warped board.
Every place that there was not space for an animal to get inside.
Unless her grandfather, in an unprecedented fit of forgetfulness, had left the door open.
That could explain everything.
That would be a safe answer.
Reassuring.
Slowly, her eyes scanned the door.
And came to rest on the lock, firmly in place.
With a moan, she turned away, trying to pretend that it was only a trick of the fading light that made it appear as if something was pressing on the door from the inside.
Hide.
Later that night, Kagome’s eyes fluttered open, pulled from sleep by uneasy dreams. Her sheets were hot, drenched from the sweat that coated her skin in a tacky layer. It was in direct contrast to the dryness of her throat, which felt as rough and raw as if she had been screaming at the top of her lungs. Resigning herself to going to the kitchen for a glass of water, she swung her feet to the floor, frowning at the dimness of the room. Usually, it glowed from the light down the street.
Confused, and more than a little half asleep, she turned to the window.
A pair of blood red eyes locked with hers, the pupils only the thin, narrow slits of a predator. It was hanging upside down from the roof, and long, bedraggled silver hair swayed in the wind, the ends extending beyond the windowsill. Its mouth was stretched in a twisted parody of a grin, exposing sharp, dangerous fangs.
There was no sanity in that gaze. No mercy. Just a cunning malice so strong that she could almost hear the laugh that would echo around her when he tore out her throat. As if he could read her thoughts, his smile grew impossibly wider. Slowly, a hand extended, and one razor sharp claw drew a lazy gouge in the glass.

You may have missed my birthday, but luckily for both of us, today is my UNbirthday! I really love this; from the lines of her hair to the way her little feeties are pointed. His trademark grumpy expression. Top tier.
Yesterday, our beloved @brain-rot-hour lost her home in a fire. She's lost almost everything except what she was wearing. She's thankfully located most of her animals, but there are a few that are still in the wind.

hello shikon! I came over from AO3 because I started rereading the art of falling in tandem and in chapter 3? I think, you mention your tumblr so I thought I'd see what was new! And I saw that life was really tossing you a lot to juggle at once and I wanted to say I was thinking of you! I don't know exactly what you're experiencing, but I've definitely been in the "life keeps chucking me lemons" phase before and I just wanted to offer moral support. thanks for all your stories!!

Life has indeed been tossing me lemons faster than I can juggle, and I suspect that a few of them are just poorly painted grenades. 🤣
This month alone, we have:
Almost $600 dollars stolen by someone stealing my debit card info, causing my mortgage to be late.
My father making himself sick trying to get their house ready to sell.
My sister’s car is dying again, and, after already having it for two, almost three months, she gets a weird letter saying that the lender isn't going to do the loan and she’ll have to take it back. So that fun little situation has to be resolved.
My mother’s van dying and needing to be repaired.
A comorbidity to my autoimmune disease cropping up to let me know its going to be a permanent thing from now on.
A family friend nearly dying after being struck by a falling tree branch (he's fine now though!)
The anniversary of my grandmother going into the hospital for the final time.
Other sundry bits bleeding over from the last few months, as well as others looming at me as the future months approach.
But! I am still doggie paddling forward! I may have to spit sea water with every other breath, but I'm not going down yet!
One of the things about ff.net that sucks is that it’s impossible to reply to guest reviews. Which is really frustrating when someone leaves a question, but I have….zero ways to answer.

No.
It is not.
We are just getting to the end of the first arc.
The next chapter is two thirds written.
But I’ve been juggling dying/cancer patient relatives, recovering from wisdom teeth removal, and running like an exhausted hamster in a spiked wheel to catch up with work. 😂 I’m trying to get the chapter out soon. I’ll juggle some things around to try to get that done faster.
