Just some kiddos, nothing bad will ever happen to them
Yep, nothing bad, not ever. What do you mean, I’m not delusional, they’re happy and still besties to this day?

Me watching season one of House of the Dragon: I hope Rhaenyra and Alicent work things out
Me watching season two of House of the Dragon: Okay but Rhaenyra and Alicent can still work things out
Me watching season three of House of the Dragon: I still think Rhaenyra and Alicent can work things out
it has always been a dream of mine to relax
it’s just not possible
I can't believe we live in a world where there's an AI company unironically called "Palantir," and it isn't a parody. It's a real thing. I remember seeing a picture of an advertisement on here and thinking, "This HAS to be a joke. This is too on-the-nose to be real. They wouldn't honestly name an AI company Palantir, after the Seeing Stones from Lord of the Rings that are supposed to offer knowledge, but famously also might be feeding you misinformation from evil sources because 'we do not know who else may be watching.'" But then here I am listening to the BBC News discussing why the CEO of Palantir just published a Manifesto that sounds like it was written by a supervillain.
this is so cool... i would love to type with the WBN font 👉👈
99% of queer discourse stops right before they define the true difference between bisexual and pansexual!

I think the funniest possible game samer would be if Sam managed to trap Lou, Siobhan, and Brennan in an escape room again
just like. for the crowd.
here's the sexual content guidelines saying nudity is ok
here's the bit from the termination email telling you you can make a new account as long as it doesn't break the same rule
here's the guidelines for what counts as explicit (not mature, aka grounds for content deletion)
here's the section telling us that you will always be able to respond to content getting flagged as explicit (lie)
here's the section where it says you will be notified when your accunt gets terminated, and that the appeals are reviewed by humans (both lies)
and by the way, posting a single thing against ToS isn't supposed to be grounds for deletion, (this is what the termination email is warning you about)
sharing content without content labels isn't either
just almost said something was “free use” instead of “public domain” 💀
I feel like ODD being an official disorder in the DSM should be the thing that makes everyone go “hm” about how psychology is practiced
[looking a child directly in the eye] i diagnose you with Shitty Bitch Syndrome. this makes it legal to do medieval german tortures to you by the way
cmon man
Hi I have an undergrad psych degree! I also have ADHD! In my motherfucking TEXTBOOK, the authors said, “Research describes ADHD as a neurodevelopmental disorder in the same vein as Autism. We are putting the (miniscule) section on ADHD in the same chapter as ODD, though, because we believe really these disorders both boil down to ✨️ people not doing what we tell them to because they are lazy✨️”
So my actual TEXTBOOK admitted that it was biased and teaching these disorders based on opinion and not up to date research. And, as described above, the section on ODD was basically just, “these are bad kids. We will not look into why or how or what comorbidities exist and we will also not be exploring the possibility of ODD really being a manifestation of trauma/undiagnosed adhd/autism/pathological demand avoidance/persistent drive for autonomy. We will however be mostly focusing on how annoying these kids are to their parents and teachers ✨️”
It’s fucking crazy. “Yeah we know lots of people with autism struggle to follow demands. They may either ignore/not register demands or have meltdowns when demands are placed. They may engage in physical aggression, verbal aggression, and property desctruction when directed to complete tasks or be exposed to uncomfortable sensory input. They may need to know the why behind demands and consequently argue with authority figures. They may be easily upset by sensory input or social interactions and have emotional outbursts when pushed beyond their limits. Some children with autism seek attention and may engage in maladaptive behaviors to elicit the attention of peers and caregivers if positive attention is not given freely/if they are ignored when behaving appropriately. All of these are symptoms of their underlying neurological differences and should be met with compassion and understanding. They are not bad children. Their brains process information differently and therefore they have executive functioning, sensory processing, and emotional regulation challenges that cause these behaviors.
Those kids over there? Yeah they have all the same symptoms but they are just Morally Wrong and Bad Children. They have Oppositional Defiance Disorder. How can I tell? Well that one hand flaps and that one doesn’t.”
How would you even measure that?
Things adults wrongly identify as arguing:
Asking for clarification
Asking any kind of question
defending yourself
answering a question teh adult has just asked you
breathing
Existing
Oh, also:
Race and the Mental Representation of Individuals Diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder: Implications for Diagnosis
Results: Classification images (CIs) showed that the children selected as having ODD appeared more prototypically Black in facial appearance than children not chosen as having ODD. No differences emerged in the gendered appearance of the two group-level CIs. Judged rates of ODD were higher for the children who appeared to be Black. However, diagnostic judgments of clinical trainees and practitioners were unaffected by appearance factors, suggesting that formal clinical training might attenuate the influence of stereotypes on judgment. Discussion: These results indicate that an overlap in Black stereotypes and diagnostic criteria for ODD might contribute to elevated diagnosis of ODD in African American children.
Overwhelmingly Black diagnosis.
Pathologizes problems with authority to dismiss them as irrational.
I know I already made a post to this effect but it's so baffling to me when someone defends the fact that headphone jacks are slowly but surely getting phased out by smartphone manufacturers with some variations of "wireless headphones are more convenient anyway" bc like. If we're talking about convenience what I like about wired headphones is that they conveniently have a single plug that makes the same damn pair of headphones universally compatible with every single audio-output-capable device I own, from my phone and my computer to my fucking gameboy and my casette player, it doesn't get any more convenient than that.
there are places in the world today that are experiencing 40°C for the first time in recorded history. of course there's no way to know whether chucking billionaires into volcanos will appease the sun god but i feel we're doing the scientific method a disservice if we don't at least try
Thinking about the doomed friendship between Cody and Aaron.
Aaron asking Cody for help identifying monsters. Cody being able to protect himself and his magical friends because Aaron trusts him. He can misdirect the hunter.
Cody asking Aaron if he needs to talk to somebody because he knows about the horrific way his parents died and that the guy is completely right, it was vampires that killed Aaron's parents, and Cody is the only kind person around Aaron that would believe him. But Cody can't say he believes him, because that endangers him and the magical beings he cares about.
But also, maybe if Aaron just had a friend who didn't treat him like he was crazy, who loved him gently through his grief, Aaron could cope with his loss in a less murderous way and they could be real friends, and Cody could be safe.
Aaron dying the same way his parents did, to vampires in a Banksy scheme, and Cody feeling guilty for feeling relief. Cody knowing that Aaron was right all along to be scared of vampires, to believe they were frenzied killers. Cody still choosing to be on the side of his own species' forsworn enemies and friend's killers.
Cody forever wondering whether maybe, if someone had talked to Aaron about the real dangers of the monster world, about the oppressive forces that suffocate humans and magical beings alike, Aaron could have been an ally in the war rather than an ignorant soldier forever shooting in the wrong direction.
But Cody was never brave enough to try.
And now Aaron is dead, with nothing to show for it.
anyway i think fans of unjustly overhated female characters and fans of unjustly overhated characters of colour should unionize
Happy pride month
