taking a stroll on the streets of a nearby planet is a nice idea to spend the night
happy halloween!!
As an auto body shop worker, I swear it STILL makes sense for lemon bodyguards/mafia workers to have black paint, even though cars technically don't have formal dress code. Because black paint is like the EASIEST to color match and thus repair seamlessly as quick as possible
it also makes sense for lemon heads (and Ivan) to keep any paint they want bc they rarely get involved in real action themselves
This makes me wonder how hard it is for Finn to maintain his very metallic and distinct paint. He saw a lot of action in that movie and didn’t seem to get a single scratch despite repeatedly launching himself off of things and blowing himself up. But maybe this just shows that Finn has the resources of CHROME at his disposal to keep his elaborate paint looking good and the lemons just go with what’s easiest.
Does this further prove that Finn is just a tiny bit vain, knowingly choosing a difficult to maintain paint colour in active field work because he knows he looks fine as hell in it?
Oh hell yea it should be hard af to maintain that color of his! I think, in CHROME field workers get some type of armored coat on top of the usual clear coat so they don't gets that scratched up all the time. Also it's either CHROME works with very qualified painters or Finn knows a guy who's really good at matching colors. Because YES, it is that hard. Like, some paints might take half a day to match and you'd still get a wrong undertone somewhere because the guy who was doing the actual paint job did it differently from the way you tested the paint. Ugh.
I'm also surprised we barely see lemons with slightly mismatched colors on their different parts, but i suppose it's because they can't really afford a paint job in the first place.
Also newer cars (like year 2020+ for sure), especially chinese ones (I work with these, I know💀) get A LOT of discoloration on different parts right from the manufacturer. Like I've seen a car with a bumper or a door three tones lighter than the rest of it not even once (OC material i guess?). Older ones are MUCH better in this most of the time

oomf I'm back at it again
oc ask groups are my ultimate weakness 😭🙏
if i was one of the workers on the lemon oil rig i'd be bored as HELLLLL wdym they were working NINETY DAY SHIFTS???? in real life, the longest oil rig shift schedule that still exists is 28 days 😭😭
it was 2011 in the middle of the pacific ocean too so they couldn't even watch youtube while drinking their dinner
me when i'm 67 days into my shift at the oil rig and the weird new gremlin trainee is rooting through everyone's underwear drawers, fight night got cancelled because tyler sent petrov to the infirmary, muggsy started writing erotica about grem & acer, and the hugos ran out of weed 😁😁😁😁
these gayass kinder surprise penguins get me going fr
so this is peak overanalysis but i was analyzing and comparing the language used in grem's and acer's respective official bios and what i observed is really interesting
grem's bio uses a lot more negative language, with his field being the "underworld of international espionage", prof z is "villanous", the lemons are "ruthless", and the plan is literally an "evil scheme"
while acer's is more neutral, with prof z just being "devious", and the plan is instead a "clandestine mission" and an "underhanded plot"
grem's bio is written very passively. he was dismissed for his design, so he has a big chip on his fender, and it led him to working for prof z. things happened to him and it brought him to where he is now
in stark contrast is acer, who is written more actively. he always felt like an outcast, so he joined forces with fellow lemons. he felt a certain way and he chose to go on this path
all this provides some really interesting headcanon fodder
for grem, he knows his actions are wrong but he doesn't care. he sees himself as a victim/product of his circumstances
for acer, he knows his actions are illegal but he thinks he is doing something noble/"right" in some way. he sees himself as shaped by his circumstances but still independent
these mindsets make sense given grem's no-nonsense attitude and acer's eagerness

Working in a car dealership is really funny because usually we get random parts like fuel doors, hoods, actual doors or wings to match the color to
But sometimes they cut out a random rectangle out of the car and bring it in. extremely dramatically.
anyways here's a drawing I made of that interaction:
currently obsessing with the redline anime
gonna drop YET another mecha oc soon
Do you think licences plates get treated like dog tags?
Do you think they gave Finn Leland’s licence plate after they recovered his remains?
I'd just add "if".
Because why would lemons keep a car cube on the rig.
assholes
found this unfinished art from like two years ago. my Pacer oc Vitz (the most greedy one I've had so far)
also thinking about joining an oc ask again so I guess I might draw a couple of my fav ocs I've never shown here for some reason?? (if I don't get distracted again)
Kind of surprised there were no Ford Pintos in Cars 2 considering the film heavily features lemons from the 1970s-1980s in a plot involving exploding fuel tanks
Probably because their overall sales were sort of good, and for the times they were produced Pintos were, I suppose, somewhat decent (when not busy exploding) otherwise they wouldn't be made and sold for TEN YEARS (1971-1980). For example, AMC made about 3k Pacers and Ford sold over 3 million Pintos. At least the spare parts are not a problem for those.
And, well, don't worry, we got some self-igniting cars in the movie. Zaporozhets, on which Trunkovs were based, had a constant problem with their heaters that ran on gas separately from the engine and would sometimes catch on fire due to lots of reasons throughout the models (including both silly constructions and silly owners)
Or Deloreans!! They were considered lemons too but they weren’t included :(( it would’ve been so cool to see Deloreans as a part of the lemon families. (I guess they were too sexy to be included) Pixar were cowards for not including them >:(
Side note, SHIMERAAAAA!!!! I missed u omgggg
Or Amphicar 770 too :') To me, one of the cutest cars out here, amazing idea but forgotten about because, well, they were sorta lame in performance. Slightly below average both on land and water, expensive af to make and you needed a BOAT LICENSE to sail on those. But OH GOD how cool was the fact they could drive into a lake or something and just. Start swimming. With barely any preparation. Just shift into boat mode and voila. Just imagine real swimming cars that were REAL EXISTING TECHNOLOGY in the spy movie. Just imagine.
Can't disagree with Deloreans being too sexy to be included + Back To The Future got them a better reputation so (considering there must be the Back To The Future movies in Cars world) Deloreans probably got over the "being disliked and looked down on" by the time Allinol project started thus barely any reason to participate under the lemons' motif.
Pinto's nonexistent situation is why I also think older VAZ/Ladas weren't included, they're technically lemons as well, but there are TONS of them, they were sold for a long time and they just simply didn't fail in overall production. Would've been nice to see those too.
What I suppose could be a criteria for picking lemons in Cars 2 was not just the fact the cars were considered lemons, but the way they were failed or disliked enough for these to not be produced and sold enough compared to other companies/models (tho idk for sure, there were quite a lot of Zaporozhets' for example)
