Oh my, I love Shigaraki so much. So much. I am going to die, I love him so much.Â

I hate them all. Don't talk to me if you like them or justify their actions.
I knew this Shigaraki panel looked familiar for a reason, and surely enough, it parallels Eri
Horiâs never been particularly subtle about introducing Eri as foreshadowing of Shigarakiâs eventual salvation, but the foiling here is really neat. Chisaki raised Eri to believe her existence is cursed because her quirk is monstrous and can only hurt others; AFO raised Tenko to believe he is a symbol of terror who lusts after blood, and that his quirk can only destroy.
yet, both of those things were just grooming. Their abusers used those claims to keep their victim docile. And indeed, Eri only ever get freed from the shadow of Chisakiâs abuse when she started smiling, aka living a life devoid of suffering.
Similarly, Shigaraki has never really known freedom from his suffering, and his hatred is exactly what enables AFOâs continued possession of his body:
What does this all mean? Well, itâs obvious, isnât it? For Eri, true freedom from her abuser had to pass through that smile â a smile that means sheâs finally starting to live her life to the fullest, feeling genuine joy for the first time despite Chisakiâs claims that she can only know pain.
Only then, did Chisakiâs shadow that had her in his clutches fully vanish.
In other words, what the parallel here shows us is that to break free from the possession, from AFOâs clutches, Shigaraki needs to learn how to feel positive emotions as well, cause the hatred only makes the shadow stronger
Do you think it is also foreshadowed the rol Tomura could have as a punisher for AfO? (or in general becoming something like a vigilante in the end?) Because it may have been the heroes the ones who defeated Overhaul an saved Eri, but it was Tomura the one who delivered his punishment by cuting his hands as he said it himself âfor being so full of himselfâ (treating everyone like pawns, disregarding Magneâs death) and there is no one as full of themselves in bnh as AfO.
I donât know about vigilantism, but I think thereâs a fair chance it foreshadows Shigaraki turning against AFO and helping the heroes defeat him. After all, Chisakiâs defeat wouldnât have been possible if Eri hadnât lent her quirk to Deku and helped him out through the fight. Thereâs a good chance of this happening too, now that Shigaraki is beginning to realize his master is only using him. Thematically, Shigaraki has always strived to express himself without someone trying to stifle his identity. I think the point of his arc is to finally free himself from the abusive hold people have had over him all his life, and the only way to do that is to be instrumental to AFOâs fall
