LUCY ALBRIGHT TELL ME LIES (2022-2026)
EVAN BUCKLEY 9x17 "I Got You Babe"
tag drop!
Today I heard that someone left this earth, that someone disappeared left no mark here.
Elle didn't find any personal gratification in missing him without measure, nor did she care for the notion of longing for anyone. What a distractingly unwarranted sentiment attachment was—the reality of someone genuinely meaning something to her felt more like the beginning of the end. What irked her even further was finding remnants of him in the most asinine moments, making her feel like some sentimental beast whenever a message from him elicited an unguarded smile. Considering how long they'd been doing this dance, it should have unsettled her how perilously dependent she was becoming in this particular tango.
Beyond a peculiar addiction, it resembled more of an all-consuming fixation.
Yet, as life often does, regardless of the circumstances, it carries on. Elle refrained from devoting too much energy reflecting on the misconceptions of her own life - the past few months comprised of an abundance of fashion shows, the launch of her new collection, and filming the latest chronicles of her family's frequently controversial and theatrical lives in the limelight.
Still, as though she and Cade were unwittingly caught in a ill-fated twist of destiny. It was inevitable that they would be pulled into each other's orbit eventually.
As she drew near, Elle's expression was one of calculated neutrality; her eyes roved languidly over his body to gauge the situation, but they quickly rolled at the slurred undertone of his confession. Head cocked, she bent down slightly to cradle his jaw, directing his face towards her scrutinizing stare. "Look at the state of you," her inflection collected. "What a shame to blemish such a pretty face."
"I leave you to your own devices for a few weeks, and this what I return to," another seemingly passive reprimand. Yet, the gentle way her thumb traced the outline of his jaw revealed a softness beneath her words. The same hand was pulled back just enough to allow her to extend it for him to take.
their push and pull had it's appeal, but lately, cade felt more and more detached from reality, which he knew only happened when he was about to have a manic episode; he knew the signs, he just never had anyone in his life who could help him through it, which resulted in him going on a bender. a bar fight was nothing; there had been a morning he'd woken up with a broken arm in an alley with no memory of how he'd gotten there. to cade, it was just a part of life; he wasn't so disillusioned to assume he'd live to an old age; he'd make some more movies and then end up the cover story for a tabloid for a few weeks so they could speculate and gossip about his demise. still, in one brief moment of clarity, he'd reached out of the abyss for someone- for elle- and she'd come. she stood before him like some ethereal being, her smooth voice reaching his ears as he took her hand and stood, grimacing at the pain in his head. "you should know better than to think i'll behave," the young man attempted to joke, but it didn't reach his eyes as he fell into step beside her, walking towards her town car. "i didn't have anyone else to call," he laughed humorlessly, his voice hoarse as he climbed into the backseat and tipped his head back, hazel eyes closing slowly.
Of a trade that had been thrust upon her when she was too young to rebel as opposed to earnestly manifested, Faye had grown to adore her vocation over the years and the realms she was blessed to explore with each new feature etched into her cinematic repertoire. Ones she likely never would have experienced had she adhered to her naive aspirations - wanting to be a dragon tamer at seven years old was adorably ambitious. but hardly practical. However, the nuances of this part of the job had always eluded her.
The networking ( insert daunting percussion here ); an enduring, perennial experience that felt more intimidating than any slasher she had outsmarted on screen. It was when Faye had to confront the stark reality of life unscripted, where clever anecdotes were not provided to her from behind a camera or presented in straightforward context. Always feeling too awkward to be charming and too odd to be captivating, her fans celebrated her peculiar affability, oblivious to the internal cringe she felt with each social misstep.
As if she hadn't already been suffering the absence of her personal sun in other aspects of her life, she was acutely aware of it in moments like this. Typically, she maneuvered through these events with Avett accompanying her. With the one person who understood you unconditionally, how could you ever feel out of place?
As if conjured from her most profound longings, Faye almost believed she was imagining the sound of Avett's voice until she turned to see the blonde standing there. Beautiful features devoid of their typical beaming radiance, now appearing justifiably disgruntled. A profound, bone deep, sense of relief washed over her, only to be swiftly replaced by guilt and shame that settled in her chest like an immense weight.
"Avett," she struggled to suppress the instinctual fondness that threatened to tint the syllables of her name. "Of course I am. I just…still need some time to…" to what? Drown out the intense sting of rejection that flooded her thoughts whenever she recalled that moment - which was constantly. "I'd never abandon you, I swore didn't I?"
Avett hated the way she felt staring at her best friend- could she even call her that anymore? They hadn't spoken all summer, and Avett still wasn't sure how the hell to remedy the situation. Faye's confession of feelings had come out of nowhere, and then as quickly as it had come, Faye had gone. The silence between them all summer was deafening, and seeing her now just standing there had Avett feeling all mixed up and understandably stressed. "How is that fair? You tell me you have feelings for me, and before I can even say anything or stop to think- you're gone," She snapped, the unfamiliar manner in which she was speaking to the brunette causing her stomach to clench. Reaching out for another drink, she took a sip and shrugged, trying to appear as if she didn't care; she was an actress, after all. "You sure about that? Sure seems like you did," The blonde shot back, taking another sip of her drink and wrinkling her nose at the strong liquor in it. "It's fine, I'm fine. You can go back to ignoring me and I'll just deal. Add you to the list with my mom, my dad- hell, maybe I'll write a song for you for my album," Avett spoke up bitterly.

Eloise's attention rose from the perfectly sculpted mound of meringue situated in the divet of her spoon to the two pairs of heels one of her assistants presented to her. As she pondered, Eloise's head bent, creating a hilariously charming angle for the rollers coiled in her hair. "The silver ones, the other will clash with the hemline," she finally concluded, a slight arch of her brow and a subtle twist of her lips signaling that she was now dismissed.
The spoon was extended towards Finley, "Have a bite," an order rather than a suggestion. Separated from the rest of the family, the two sisters choose to get ready for the evening's event with each other. Elle was confident she could vividly envision the chaos in the other suite. "The sugar will give you the energy to make it through the night."
"I liked the other ones," She remarked absentmindedly as the assistants scurried away to do Elle's bidding. The brunette sat on her little sister's plush bed in a silk robe, manicured fingers tapping at her phone screen aimlessly while Elle continued to get ready. Her makeup and hair was done, and she wasn't about to put her tight dress on until absolutely necessary, so she was simply relaxing and appreciating the peaceful atmosphere Elle's home provided. If they were with the rest of their family, there would be the inevitable blow up fight between them, with their brother making them all want to suffocate him with his pretentious clothing choices. Slowly but surely, the two youngest members of the Vanderbilt family were limiting contact with their family and pursuing their own business ventures; making sure their success had nothing to do with their last name. "Why are we even going? Our mother hasn't spoke to me since I quit the show and got a divorce all in one week," Finley groaned, leaning over Elle's shoulder to touch up her lipstick in the mirror.

With all the comfortability that several years of friendship afforded, Bree felt no incentive to warn her best friend of her impromptu visit in advance. Ferreting her personal spare key to Elena's house from the back pocket of her snug jeans, she stepped inside with a lively gait, her free hand gripping the handle of the suitcase rolling behind her. She had not initially been expected to return for another two days, but pre-production for her upcoming film was progressing ahead of schedule.
With a snicker, she bellowed down the hall, "Honey, I'm home!" as she searched the familiar spaces of Elena's home for the blonde, suitcase abandoned in the foyer.
It should have felt strange, or at the very least imposing, that her initial destination after departing the airport, even before dropping off her luggage at home, was to see Elena. But any formalities between the two were redundant, considering how intertwined their lives were. Her little family, chosen over the blood relatives she'd become estranged from over the years. There would always be a tender reassurance knowing she'd always have someone to come home to.
"There you are, hot stuff." As she peered around the corner, her head peeked out to greet the blonde, and a wide grin spread across her lips as she made a beeline to the vacant spot beside her. "I come bearing gifts from my travels" she declared with a dramatic flair, her legs swinging over Elena's lap to settle in comfortably. "It's me. I'm the gift."
It had been a long summer, with long night shoots and lonely days with Bash on vacation with his father, so Elena had gotten used to her home being too quiet for her own comfort. She wasn't exactly the type to go out and fill the silence with parties or events, unless her manager encouraged her to do the occasional talk show, too focused on busying herself with work, so when she heard her front door open and a familiar, melodic voice ring out through the foyer, Elena smiled broadly for the first time in a week.
"You're never allowed to leave me for that long again," The blonde accused with a playful pout on her lips, opening her arms to receive the leggy woman who went right ahead and sat down beside her on the couch. Surveying her appearance, Elena could only scoff silently at how stunning she looked, even after a long flight. She was beginning to believe Bree had made a deal with the devil awhile ago to always look like a bombshell. Even in the early mornings after she slept over, Elena would wake up to the other woman looking like some type of model for loungewear or something. "How's the film? I'm so excited this project was greenlit, even though it takes you away from me. You're gonna kill it," She beamed proudly, arms draped over Bree's thighs comfortably.
